No doubt. I've really liked him in other movies though. Especially Along Came Polly where he rips off Rupert Murdoch and is the stereotypical ocker. Hilarious!!! (ocker is sort of like redneck but not as insulting) There's also a movie called The Bank that he's in.

Those who really know me like Citizen Rules, Swan and Minio will tell you that my joking is always in good fun.. there are people who were cruel to me in their joking.. and there was some who wasnt... and I had no problems joking back...

MovieMeditation posted something while I was gone.. I have read it and I knew he was joking as was Mr Minio who responded to him... those are people who know me more than what they see posted on this board... they took the time to talk to me in private and understand the person I am.

Some take my comments as harsh and abrupt but they really dont know me for who I am.

Son of Dundee? I guess I missed it. I'm not watching the Super Bowl this year. For a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan, I've always hated the Eagles, and I can't stand the New England Patriots either. The Patriots I despise (lightheartedly---I don't really get that bent out of shape about sports) more, so I hope the Eagles win...or if the game's over, I hope they've won and this is the first time I've ever rooted for them. But tell me what Son of Dundee is? A movie about Crocodile Dundee's son? I need to know. By the way, did you ever watch The Paul Hogan Show back in the 70's or early 80's, whenever it was on. I can't get anyone I know to say they remember it and I thought it was pretty hilarious.

You know the old saying about writing, right? That you need to write every single day, no matter what it is. Just keep it up. I hate to admit it, but I actually wrote an entire book once, but it's boxed up and put away and will never see the light of day. I read it back to myself and it was terrible and derivative. But I was glad I went through with it and accomplished it.

Hilarious when Hogan turned up. I was taken by surprise as well (and I dont even like the guy these days).

Really fun, creative campaign and so hilarious out here because it caused an absolute poopoostorm in a teacup that some loud mouthed, stereotypical American was the lead in a movie about the legendary Croc Dundee, and it turned out to be a superbowl ad.

Dad, teasers were being released over the last couple of weeks about this 'movie'. It's a tourism ad but so many people here were fooled. Even I was fooled initially. A-lister aussie actors were cast, and the outrage more than anything was it was being 'funded' by the tax payer. Loses a lot in translation now and you really had to be there from the beginning. Saunch laughed all the way through it (up in new trailers thread)

Okay, I just watched the trailer and read the article you linked me to, and I gotta say it's pretty dang hilarious! That so many people would get bent out of shape about that is funny. But then again, I've moaned about certain reboots before, so I'm not immune. But it's pretty obvious when you see the trailer how it's not a movie: I mean, "Free beer, free beer!" That snippet right there should have been obvious. But I enjoyed it for the parody aspect. And yes, the ladies in it, naturally. Margot Robbie, Isla Fisher, and Ruby Rose. Oh boy. Hey, maybe they should do the reboot. Nah, I kid! I kid! Three is enough, and it doesn't need rebooting. And actually two was enough---not that the third was terrible to me, it was just kind of okay. They kind of ran out of ideas on that one. I would have rather had the Dundee family staying in Australia than go to L.A. But, whatever. I just pray nobody really gets the "idea" to reboot. Hogan is Dundee to me.

Right, so I finally got my answer to the american culture scenario today while having chat with my friend. She is a chef in her 60s (just to give some background generation info) so we were discussing the difference between continental and american use of cutlery. She decided to then, after a comment I made about loving cross cultural exchange, blow off some steam about something she had been mulling over.

Last year she was going through some not always nice treatment for an illness over several months. Every couple of weeks I would send a message of 'Hi, How's it going. I'm around if you want to chat. How was your weekend?' or 'How cold is it there at the moment?'. It was as simple as that. Just normal chit chat I would say to anyone. She admitted today that she actually thought I was being nosy and wanting the nitty gritty of her reactions to treatment. She was too embarrassed to say she thought I wanted all the ins and outs while she had been having a rough time so she exaggerated the american cultural bit because she was being passive aggro (her words) while in hypersensitive and defensive mode, but it was the way she was taught to not ask for details.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It's just me saying hello and letting her know I was thinking of her without asking for details. Wow talk about a lost in translation moment. Anyone here who has received a PM from me knows that I start a PM more often than not with something like 'Hi, How, how's it going?' then further chit chat. SMH. So much is lost in text. I asked why she didnt seek clarification at the time and she said she didnt want me to feel ignorant. LOL. Wouldnt have bothered me, but the fact is I never specifically asked about her treatment anyway. That's personal, so I left the ball in her court if she wanted to blow off steam.

Bloody hell, how exhausting. Goes to show how clear you have to be in written speech. I would feel really rude if I just said Hi then dived into a heavy duty convo. I think I pretty much always say How are you, how's it going. It doesnt mean I want your temperature, blood pressure, weight, side FX from whatever drugs and alcohol you had last night, and if you got a roll in the hay.

This is "Star Wars: A New Hope"

I watched this with a friend who is 26 years old and he had never seen it before. Oh what a blast I had! I have seen it multiple times and figured when he asked I watch it with him, I would be bored again. Within the first 2 minutes of the film, I said "The gold robot C3PO is annoying". His response "so is the little one". Throughout the film we basically didnt talk until near the end and then his wit came out. It was great. A few things he said "This old dude is going to die. I can feel it". (Obi Wan fighting Darth Vader) "These two are going to hit it on. I can feel it" (Han and Leia). "They are so bad at shooting" (everyone in the film). "Tarzan" (when Luke and Leia swing across getting away from Stormtroopers). "He's been bragging about this Jedi **** the whole movie and then died to the guy with the toy head". (again Obi wan) There are many more but my favorite is " His hairy friend sounds like a cow c***ing".

well if they try to steal him when he's not activated, they may be missing a few vital pieces. I have a durable reusable bag to carry the ball around, his head will be in my "sealife" bag that is on my shoulder and his remote will be in my purse. I decided to keep the pieces separate for this purpose. I doubt if someone here would try to steal him but yeah.. go for it if you think you can .. it won't function unless you have all three. the head and remote are only synced to the ball.

a) people almost always say "worse," presumably because friends inevitably move on and whatever changes makes it different from whatever they loved about it at first (and there's a bias towards familiarity/nostalgia, of course, in all things).

b) there are always upsides and downsides to every change.

This year was better than last year. The guy tried 3 times & sent me back home. Boy, was I annoyed.
