I was going to post this in the funny pic thread, but I thought it might be needed here.

1. I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006; Chan-wook Park)
2. The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001; Larry Blamire)
3. Pootie Tang (2001; Louis C.K.)
4. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001; Kevin Smith)
5. 24 Hour Party People (2002; Michael Winterbottom)
6. Bubba Ho-Tep (2002; Don Coscarelli)
7. The Saddest Music in the World (2003; Guy Maddin)
8. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004; Wes Anderson)
9. The Wayward Cloud (2005; Ming-liang Tsai)
10. Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006; Scott Glosserman)

These are all listed as comedies on IMDb. Choose one of them for me to watch (some of them could be rewatches.) And if one of them isn't really a comedy let me know, so I can strike it from my list. The more fun the movie, the better. I need a little bit of escapism for now.

I haven't seen any of the movies on that list, but for a good comedy when you need a laugh, I would recommend either Liar, Liar with Jim Carrey, or My Cousin Vinny with Joe Pesci.

Anderson is such a breath of fresh air for me right now. The way he makes serious themes so light hearted and quircky. Always amazing characters. Glad is was just a little of what you needed JJ.

I had a dream last night where I was walking around shirtless. I have that dream a lot. Thank god I guess. At least I didn't forget my audio recorder. That would be awful. :D

I tried to look up what being half naked in a dream means but it all sounds so dumb.

'Often times, when you realize that you are naked in your dream, no one else seems to notice. Everyone else in the dream is going about their business without giving a second look at your nakedness. If this happens in your dream, then it implies that your fears are unfounded; no one will notice except you. You may be magnifying the situation and making an issue of nothing.'

It does help if you have a wondering mind (I do) even when I try to pay attention something said will trigger a chain of thoughts and suddenly I'm thinking about Indonesian elephants and have no idea what the professor has been talking about for 20 minutes. I even do it in my creative writing class and that's a pretty hands on interactive class. Not much lecturing.

Then my mind is occupied by thoughts of how to slowly torture that guy and once again I am not paying attention.

I have lived in the northeast a good bit of my life but ironically my favorite Italian restaurant is here. One of those chains, but not really. It is called Provinos, and there are two or three of them in this area. Delicious food. Carrabas is great as well, I enjoy it a couple of times a year.

I agree 100%. There are some nice things about LI, but the cost of living is definitely not one of them.

Another problem is that we see a lot of advertising for restaurants that we don't have around here. Golden Corral, CiCi's Pizza, Sonic Drive-In, and even Dairy Queen. They all look so good, but we have to go out of the area, (usually over a toll bridge or two), to enjoy those restaurants.

Yeah, those people are out there, but they're rare. The Yankees are in the Bronx, so most of the people who live in the Bronx are Yankees fans.

Would you say the Giant and the Jets, and the Rangers and the Islanders have similar geographical boundaries? Just wondering because i always found it weird NY has two teams in most sports, but i suppose that's because it's for NYC and the rest of the State. Then the Buffalo teams come into it and my head explodes :p.

The Giants and the Jets both play in New Jersey. The Rangers play in New York City. And the Islanders play on Long Island.

I don't follow football, but I think the Giants and the Jets both play in the same stadium, (The Meadowlands), but it's not actually in New York.

I know that baseball has some rules about how close the teams can be because a few years ago, the Yankees wanted to move one of their minor league teams into Nassau County (on Long Island), but they weren't able to move them there because the Mets had to approve the move because it was too close to Shea Stadium, (where the Mets played).

Yeah, that's pretty accurate. I've found that most Mets fans also root for the Islanders, the Jets, and the Knicks, and most Yankees fans usually root for the Rangers, the Giants, and the Nets.

Also, most Mets fans are usually pretty easy-going people, and most Yankees fans are usually not so easy-going. (Most, not all.)

I'm not even sure how I became a Mets fan. Neither of my parents were sports fans when I was young. My Mom said that she just walked in the room one day when I was about 3 years old, and I was watching a Mets game on TV. She doesn't know who actually picked that channel.

We had a major problem with Olive Garden last year, but we complained to corporate and they sent us a nice gift card to convince us to go back there.

It was so bad that we asked the manager to switch our server, which he did, but the original server told the kitchen to cancel our order, and didn't tell anyone, so we waited over a half hour for our food before somebody figured out what caused the delay.

Just started up my Video Game Favorites thread. Should be a fun blast from the past.

Speaking of scientists, I think I'm becoming really sick of Sam Harris for some reason.

Not the idea that there's no free will -- which I still believe -- but Sam himself.

I just finished reading his new book, Waking Up, and ever since I did... I feel these feelings of annoyance with him.

Swan, you've seen Uzumaki, right? I know you've said the graphic novel is one of your favorites. Would you consider the movie a comedy?

Also, what about Greedy Guts?

I haven't seen the movie. However, the graphic novel is absolutely not a comedy.

I like that one, Drew was hilarious in that film. It was the sparkly one that creeped me out.

I think it's kind of gross - the avatar. Not really in a way that's "ewww, blood! sickening!" gross -- it's just gross as a Drew avatar. It'd be like Honeykid using an avatar of Drew dead and hanging from the tree in Scream. Why even bother with that?

Decided to move to a yearly approach with my comedy viewing. Which of these from '00 should I watch after I finish Bubba Ho-Tep?

1. High Fidelity (2000; Stephen Frears)
2. Snatch. (2000; Guy Ritchie)
3. Chicken Run (2000; Peter Lord & Nick Park)
4. Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000; Lloyd Kaufman)
5. Tears of the Black Tiger (2000; Wisit Sasanatieng)
6. Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000; Joon-ho Bong)
7. The Foul King (2000; Kim Jee-woon)
8. Meet the Parents (2000; Jay Roach)
9. Small Time Crooks (2000; Woody Allen)
10. Best in Show (2000; Christopher Guest)

Chicken Run.

And when you finish, you'll need to add it to your animation ballot.

Well, first of all, don't finish Bubba Ho-Tep.

Skip Chicken Run.

I'd go with Citizen Toxie and then Best in Show.

Avoid Snatch. That movie did nothing for me.

Snatch is great and you definitely need to see Chicken Run. I highly, highly recommend Best in Show. It may not be as funny if you don't know the dog show world, but I laughed so hard. I'm not much on comedies either.

The only movies I've seen on that list besides Chicken Run are Best In Show, Snatch and Meet the Parents. I didn't care at all for Snatch or Meet the Parents. Best in Show is good, but it's not my favorite of Guest's films. I prefer A Mighty Wind.

Chicken Run is the movie that put an end to the anti-animation phase of my teenage years.

Was Dwight the one who started the thing with the wolves t-shirt?

Swan

No, that started because people started posting ridiculous reviews of it on Amazon and it became popular after that.

Swan

The fact that Dwight wore it just makes it that much cooler.

I used to have that wolves t-shirt. No longer do, unfortunately. But I bought it without knowing it was a phenomenon. Which makes me feel silly. I just thought it was a cool shirt. Then I noticed it was everywhere and I realized I had bought a shirt people made fun of.

All moved back in to University. Second year now, got a house sorted with five other people (three I lived with last year and two of our friends from last year).

My room (much bigger than last year's university accommodation):
