Downfall is a great movie-i see someone has commented that it might be too sympathetic towards Hitler-however its been widely stated that Hitler was a very nice and polite man towards the people around him.

Just sat and watched a pretty brutal 2-3 minute fight between two Frenchmen from my window. I live right next to a police station so they just came out and split them up then took them away, Would be pretty funny if it was just a silly scrap but one of them was bouncing the others head off the ground :eek:.

I know Captain America has been out for awhile but disappointed it isn't in my theater anymore. Hell neither is xmen when I want to go this weekend.
I was thinking that was strange, but maybe that's just because Deadpool managed to stay in theatres here until just a couple weeks before it's DVD release and I no longer remember what a regular turn around time is haha.
Civil War is still playing here, but it's down to 2 screenings a day (1 3D, 1 regular). I imagine when they update the showtimes for later this week it'll be gone. X-Men is still playing 4 times a day, 3 of which are in 3D, and it still has one screening at the other, smaller theatre, but I don't imagine it'll stick around too longer either since there are quite a few movies coming out in the next few weeks.

I finished it earlier. In the end i do think that Adnan most likely did it but same as Sarah i don't think i would be able to convict if on the jury with the evidence presented. Then again i haven't looked into the case myself yet, for all i know Serial misrepresented or left a lot of stuff out.
I think it was interesting at the end the developments with the serial killer but i can't imagine he'll have anything to do with this case. Jay knowing where the car was alone is too much for me to consider it being anyone other than Adnan or Jay. I think there's a chance that Jay did it with Adnan but i can't believe Adnan had nothing to do with it, and i actually think that it was more than likely what Jay said despite changing his story that Adnan killed her then Jay helped bury her. As the producer woman said there is way to much coincidence and bad luck for Adnan not to be involved at all. What do you think?

Yeah, I think she was a little biased. I wish I wasn't two years removed from listening because there were two or three things that nagged the hell out of me and certainly would have made me think twice if I was on the jury.

Yeah vinyl can be pretty expensive, it's worth it if you love them though. Not everyone does, but I do.

Those who hadn't, I'd recommend another film to them or just ask them if they're rather sit next to me eating popcorn for two hours.

I saw the trailer in theaters. It made me chuckle a couple times, but I have no desire to watch it. That's just not my kind of humor. It just looks like a stupid movie. My friend saw it and he said it was really dumb humor. It made him laugh, but at the same time he was face palming himself for laughing at it. He enjoyed it, but yeah it sounds really dumb. Can I have some of your over priced popcorn?

I could use some chill right about now.
Woke up with severe dental pain from a tooth I was supposed to have extracted weeks ago that luckily hasn't been bothering me until now. But boy is it making up for it, and no amount of advil, orajel, or numbing mouthwash is helping. Was hoping my dentist could clean out the tooth again and put in another temporary filling, but silly me forgot they were only open for 4 hours in the morning on Fridays. By the time I called, it was too late to bus up before they closed, so now I'm stuck in agony until Monday morning (and even then my dentist might not be able to help).
It's just after 2:30 now, and I haven't had anything to eat all day but my tooth is too painful to touch. I'm trying to find something soft to eat, but other than some limoncello gelato, all I have is some 5 minute couscous that is past its "best before" date. Since I have nothing else, I'm going to put it on.
If I never post again, assume the couscous killed me and remember never to eat anything past the expiry date.

The last few movies I saw in theatres had nearly 15 minutes of ads/trailers (excluding the ads that played before the supposed start time). Luckily we're seeing it in IMAX, and the IMAX theatre tends to only play a couple trailers.
I feel that with the absurd ticket prices here, we shouldn't have that many ads shoved down our throats. And I do mean actual ads, like you'd see on tv, not just theatrical trailers. It's ridiculous.

Did you know that there's a phone app called RunPee -- when you're watching a movie, it tells you when are the best moments to leave the film and quickly run to the bathroom and pee.

*nods* Yeah, the user reviews for it over at IMDB are practically all non-stop very negative reviews.
I wonder why it turned out so bad. I guess you just can't repeat something like the original Independence Day twenty years later.
It reminds me of E.T. part II. There was a treatment/plot/idea for a sequel to E.T. Of course it never happened and it's probably a good thing that it didn't. This was a movie they shouldn't have made, yet they did.
Their whole problem was trying to be so different in ways from the original movie. It should have been more of a carbon copy of the original film. They shouldn't have developed their technology so much and made the film so futuristic. Even if people criticized the sequel for being so much like the first film.... (and there may be people already saying that, but I don't think it's like the first movie)... at least it could have possibly been more entertaining. They also needed a new funny guy to replace Will Smith.

Jake's a little odd simply because his connection to the original movie isn't really there. His parents were killed in the 1996 alien attacks. I don't know/I don't think they were characters in the first film.
More cheesy lines? I kinda thought the movie had a bunch of cheesy lines... maybe too many in fact... they just weren't great cheesy lines.
Harvey Fierstein's character is unfortunately dead.... but I wish he wasn't. He would have been FAR better as a returning character than Dr. Okun. I don't see what's so special about Dr. Okun. He was a weird, interesting character in the first film... but then it looked like he died or something in that (he didn't)... and that would have been enough of him.
But oh well. I'm kinda glad Harvey Fierstein's character died in the original movie and was spared returning for the sequel. The sequel probably would have just ruined him.

So many people from the first movie are now dead! This movie kills off Will Smith's character, Bill Pullman's character, Vivica A. Fox's character. I heard Jeff Goldblum's wife from the first movie - Connie - she's supposed to be dead from cancer, that's why she's not in it. She was a major character in the first film. Harvey Fierstein is dead. Dr. Okun's boyfriend (who was also in the first movie) is dead. Who's still alive? David (Jeff Goldblum), his father, and President Whitmore's daughter. That's about it! Oh, and that damn Dr. Okun. And Will Smith and Vivica A. Fox's son.
What's crazy is most of these people didn't even have to die. Vivica A. Fox's death is an accident.
Oh, and Russell Casse is dead, but we all knew that.

Well, the third movie -- and I already told Raul this, but I'll tell everyone else -- IF they're actually bold enough to make a third movie -- I heard it's supposed to take place in the far future. Mankind has advanced EVEN MORE and we're supposed to be the bad guys. It's a reversal of the very first Independence Day -- some other planet out there in outer space gets attacked BY US. We attack an innocent, primitive planet and they have to defeat us.
That's what I read somewhere. I can believe that's their idea after seeing Independence Day: Resurgence.

I didn't understand this whole Jake character. Where the hell he came from. I also think the movie could have been better had it more cheesy lines
I actually just had to look up who Jake was. Did not know/remember Hemworth's character's name haha.
Both myself and my room mates said the same thing about the cheesy one liners. I think the point of Jake was to be that character, but they forgot to actually give him any good lines to say.
If I go the singer-songwriter route, I'm going to use my full name. Like Paul Thomas Anderson.
Listened to the first episode of the second season of serial. I thought it was fine, admittedly not as gripping as the first season so far but it was pretty interesting at times. Next episode is Sarah talking with the Talibaan so i'm curious how that will go and how Bowe's story will stack up against theirs.
I've been listening to another true crime podcast called Sword and Scale and i listened to a disturbing two part one on that POS Luka Magnotta. Weirdly his story sounded eerily similar to what Bowe himself was saying, Bowe was saying that he wanted fame by leaving the camp and doing some super soldier-esque things, he actually reluctantly said this himself that he thought the leadership of his unit was corrupt and that he wanted to be recognized as the person who went out and exposed this. I don't know, initial reactions from one episode don't mean much but i really don't like the sound of Bowe so far from his own words.
Yeah, I didn't think I liked Adnan much either but I stopped listening because listening to Bowe's excuses was driving me mad. Let me know how this one turns out.
I did like Adnan. I think he was incredibly charming and relatable. At the same time i fully believe he did it and that it was most likely premeditated. That's what scared me most with that story, i completely believe Adnan was a sociopath. My most head shaking moment and when i think the most bias was shown was when Sarah was being told what a psychopath usually acts like and she failed to mention how Adnan was acting towards her, the only questions she asked the doctor were in relation to character assessments his supporters had given rather than how he had been speaking to her which is surely the only true, unbiased proof of his character. I don't know, it is a show and she may have been trying to drag out the he may be innocent side to make things more interesting, but even if that is the case i still think she has to have realized that Adnan sounds pretty perfect of a match to what is being described and this may have genuinely scared her. It would have scared me.
In Bowe's case i don't know. Thing is unless it changes later on Sarah isn't the one involved with Bowe, she isn't speaking to him, this other guy is she is just reporting this. I do hope Sarah gets a chance to interview him in the last episode maybe with her questions about what she has learned. I have to say i don't always agree with her but Sarah is a great host, she is a great storyteller and i think she has an inquisitive mind and often asks the right questions.

Forgot to respond to this earlier. I think potentially the most interesting thing about the second season could be the fact that Bowe is so disingenuous. I think a lot of appeal for me in the first season was hearing Adnan talk, you don't often get that much access to a potential killer and it really makes you think a lot about what he says and how he says it. I'm guessing it is going to be the same with Bowe, in the first episode i found a lot of what he said really curious, there may also be developments or admissions later on, we'll see. How many episodes did you listen to before you gave up last time?

I can't get over that Fourth of July song by Sufjan Stevens. It devastated me.
Damn massive Hornet just flew into my window. I'm not even scared of bees, wasps, hornets, etc, but this thing was some size no way was i staying in a room with it. Thankfully i checked in a few minutes later and it had flew back out.
That five hour energy is lasting way longer than it was supposed to.
Almost had a panic attack today. Never fun, that.

So I'm at the theater. I watched most of Neighbours 2 which was cringe worthy. Is Seth Rogan getting desperate?
Then I watched Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. We were only going to watch part of it and then go to The Neon Demon, but it was so good we watched it all and forgot to even pay attention to the time.
Now we're watching part of Me Before You. It's so unbearably cringy... It's sappy and tacky with horrible acting. Whenever a scene looks like it's about to get interesting it ends. My friend was trying to sleep but I kept waking him up to talk about how bad the movie was. But there was nothing else playing except Dori, and we're killing time till The Neon Demon starts.

For the rest of Canada, today is Canada Day. For us, however, it is Memorial Day. It commemorates the tragic losses the Royal Newfoundland Regiment suffered at the battle of Beaumont-Hamel in 1916. We're talking an 85-90% causality rate in just 30 minutes.
Normally Canada Day celebrations sort of overtake those of Memorial Day, but since today is the 100th anniversary, things are super sombre here, to the point where people can't even say "Happy Canada Day!" on Facebook without people immediately posting links about Beaumont-Hamel. I really wasn't expecting to see that when I woke up this morning.
I can hear the drums from the ceremony, even though it's 4-5km away. It's bringing back a lot of memories because in my hometown, we lived right across from the Royal Canadian Legion, which was just two buildings away from the War Memorial, so the annual Remembrance Day and Memorial Day ceremonies always took place right on our doorstep.
I really need to watch something comedic, or at the very least light-hearted, yet all I can think about is the 1981 Gallipoli film and the real war footage they always made us watch back in grade school. :(
