I think a good way to convince people to stick around is to get them posting in this thread. Build some rapport with us and such.

Same. If you feel excluded you aren't likely to stick around.

And as far as lesbian cinema goes: Vampyros Lesbos...okay, well that's probably not what she had in mind.

She's a big fan of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanson and seems to like foreign films, cheesy horror, and anime and she's a really nice person so I think people would like her if she'd just start posting. She keeps saying she's going to start a thread asking for suggestions for lesbian cinema but then never does. I've informed her that she NEEDS to participate in the animation countdown, so here's hoping she listens.

I had a friend join... but he only posted 3 times.. right now.. we are not friends for certain reasons... he did something he shouldn't have and I said "When you decide to get things straight.. you know where I will be... and perhaps in time.. .I will reply to your posts and give you rep points"... I doubt if he will ever come here to post

Yeah, that would be great. Kinda like My Life as a Dog not even coming close to making the 80's list.

I've re-read some of my posts and the grammar and wording as of late are really embarrising.: I blame it on lack of sleep because of my back. I found out what it is finally. I went to the doctor and I have a pinched nerve. I got an anti-inflammatory shot and that has helped immensely.

I've had one before but it went away on it's own. Apparently, sometimes they can be serious enough to require surgery, but I should be back to normal in a week or two.

Yes, I adore Bill. And Geoffrey Rush. I do love Scarlett Johanson but I haven't been too into her movies lately. I would probably say my favorite actress is Audrey Hepburn and Emma Thompson. Cheesy horror is great, but creepy scary is even better!

Now that my time (time for myself) is so limited- I try to be picky with what I choose to watch. The last movie I took myself to see was The Lunchbox and I really liked it. Next movie I really want to take myself out to see is Mood Indigo. Both foreign- Ha!

Currently, lesbian cinema has taken a backseat to lesbian fiction, but it is on my to-do list. My favorites lesbian films so far are Kiss Me, and Desert Hearts. I just bought the mini-series Fingersmith.

Don't worry, Tory, I'm working on my favorite animated movies- baby steps!

Yeah, I'm more of a graphic novel person. I know some say there is no difference, but they bring two different things to my mind. Comic book stores usually have a fair share of both though.

Ask Godoggo, she's read a lot more than me. I haven't read that many. I've just loved the ones I've read.

For graphic novels, check out Black Hole. That's my one recommendation. :D

But, if you count manga, check out Uzumaki by Junji Ito. That's my favorite graphic novel/manga that I've read and one of my favorite books.

Recommendations. I need them.

Sandman ~ Neil Gaiman
Chew - John Layman/Rob Guillory
Stitches - David Small
Call of Cthulhu - H.P Lovecraft
Cthulhu Tales: Chaos of the Mind - Michael Alan Nelson
My Friend Dahmer - Derf
The Voyeurs - Gabrielle Bell
Unterzakhn - Leela Corman
Anya's Ghost - Vera Brosgol
I can give you more tailored recommendations if you tell me what you're looking for, but those all some of the ones I love.

Sandman and Chew are series the rest are stand alones except for Cthulhu Tales which is Volume 2 in a series, but they are short stories so you needn't read the others.

Anya's Ghost is young adult just so you know, but I love it.

My cat gets offended by the smell of anything minty. Also the smell of citrus.

Which works to my advantage when he's being particularly obnoxious. All I have to do to keep him out of my way is chew gum, brush my teeth, or eat an orange and leave bits of the peel on the desk where I'm trying to work.

He's such a weirdo.

I go for night classes whenever I can. Hate getting up early. My personal course preference hierarchy probably goes Time (later is better) > Tutor(s) (if I like them and have had them in the past, that's better, obviously, though I'm much more likely to not choose a class because I don't like the lecturer than choose one because I do like them) > actual content of the course. That's horrible. I'm sorry you're getting treated this way by a family member but then again, I can completely relate to that :(

My stepdad cried over a huge fight with my mom a long time ago but I got home too late to actually see it happen. I would have taken pictures.

I think I've read him say that he's cried at some films, now that I think about it.

I remember my parents fights... they were not fun.... my dad had a slow fuse... my mom, well I think she might have asked for what she got

I remember when my mom's younger sister was living with us.. my dad came home and something happened that made him upset... I think he was stressed from my aunt living with us.. and well... my dad hit my mom in the head with a metal lunchbox (this was in the 70s, and dang it was my lunchbox sitting on the chair by the door).. My mom was mad as hell.... I think it was like over 20 stitches in her head.....

Well, it's obviously her right to get mad over that. I sure would have been mad. Parents' fights are the absolute worst. I start uni in a week and I always thought I'd be living abroad or at least on my own when I went to uni but nope, still with my family. They're alright sometimes but most of the time they're just so annoying.

The only thing is that if you ever met my dad... you would think him a gentle soul... again.. it would take a lot to make him angry

out of 3 girls... I was the only one he spanked and it only happened once!

I just remembered how whenever my parents would leave my stepbrother and I home alone, they'd put me in charge and my dad's first rule would always be 'you're not allowed to have girls sleep over' and I would always be like, ugh fine dad whatever but on the inside I was always laughing :) parents are hilarious

Yes, I guess I'm not in a position to judge him or his actions. It's not like I knew him or anything.

Yeah that's from the annual Veterinary Practice News "They Ate What?" (http://www.veterinarypracticenews.com/2014-X-Ray-Contest-Winners/) X-ray contest. We get that magazine at work and I always get a kick out of the finalists. That one got third place. This was the winner this year:

Gravel. The owner had used pea gravel as a substrate in its tank and the frog ate it. It had surgery to remove the rocks and it survived.

Lucky froggy though, to have an owner that would consent to x-rays and surgery (or to even bring it to the vet at all). Sadly a lot of people view herps as disposable pets.

Howie Mandel makes it a big deal about the two young boys who play rock music with cellos.... they are not the first to do this.... Im sure there are many others out there... but dang it.. no one is more famous for it than Apocalyptica....a band formed in 1993 from Finland.
