Mr Minio

I don't even know that chord (or don't know it by name). Just play any power chord with your index finger on the 5th string and add your middle finger on the 3rd string just between those two different frets, just like:

G 4
D 5
A 3

Sounds cool and you can move it all around the neck

Sitting in a hospital waiting room in Dallas. Grandpa's quadruple bypass went well, but he was heavily sedated, so we are just sitting here overnight waiting until they take his breathing tubes out.

Being tired as fuuuu with nowhere to sleep is taxing, but I guess I could be the one in the hospital bed. I guess I have it pretty good.

And my grandpa is doing pretty good. He's going to be in some pain though, and he doesn't like those tubes in his nose. He's so heavily sedated that I don't really think he even knows who has been in to visit him.

I wish i could cry on cue. It's hard for me to cry but sometimes I think it would make me feel better.
Like when I spend an hour shoveling my car out of the snow only to have it not start.

I've also got to wonder.. what kind of ******* plows HALF of a .5 mile neighborhood road and then thinks to himself.. good enough, I'll turn around now.

Yup I'm back from boston and I abandoned my vehicle blocking in half the neighborhood. Road hasn't been plowed so most people aren't going anywhere anyway.. except now the plow can't get through.

Should be filming my foot chase sequence this saturday night.. my final sequence as an overweight cop with a mustache. Really, really looking forward to having this done so I can diet and grow my hair out, bring sexy back, etc.

My actress cop-partner just canceled on me because her director on another project rescheduled today…

I've been stretching about 3 hours a day for the last 6 months for this project. I've gained 80 lbs for it. Spent $400 renting a special camera so we can shoot at night. SABOTAGE!

This is what people are like though.. they're so unreliable and I get no respect.

Yeah, that's a tough sell. Maybe have the emails printed onto cards and then held by sexy ladies? Like an 80's gameshow. You could make the dvd/bluray interactive and have the viewer guess what the reply was from a set of possibilities. :D

Right now it looks like I have 1 friend showing up to help me with this foot chase.
I know I don't get out much these days with my health problems.. it shouldn't be too surprising i don't have friends anymore. It;s still a tough pill to swallow. It looks like I'll be using the last of my savings to hire random strangers of craigslist and pray they show up.

But one friend did! not a close friend but now someone I'll appreciate forever. And then there were two!

I hate how mean and disgusting Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon's characters are in those films. They get too violent to the point that it's not really fun to watch for me. But I could see how a film totally devoted to Captain Spaulding might be a lot better if it was just him and had a lot of humor. Though, I still don't really trust Rob Zombie's skill even with that. He'd probably make a really brutal Captain Spaulding film, with not as much humor as I'd imagine.

I bet Captain Spaulding on the forum could write a great movie involving Captain Spaulding. I think he's more talented than Rob Zombie.

You have to pick movies everyone has seen and likes. I don't feel like I have the freedom to really pick the movies I love and think are great because I'll be the only vote and they won't make the list. The lists have a lot of mediocre but popular movies, and so many great movies don't make them that really should. I just don't care what the most popular movies on the site are. I put in work in the past for a couple lists and it felt like a complete waste of time.

I like seeing people's individual lists, but I don't really enjoy the whole experience as a game or passtime activity. I like looking at what movies people put forward in the early stages trying to get people to watch movies they think are great, but I don't like the end product of the list itself.

I suppose this is true to an extent.

I don't feel like I have the freedom to really pick the movies I love and think are great because I'll be the only vote and they won't make the list.

I think everyone should vote for whatever they like, i know i haven't ever voted for something because it is popular.

I like seeing people's individual lists,

A lot of people would like to see your list too, i at least have gotten a lot of great recs of movies that didn't make the Countdowns. Also i don't think it is quite as filled with popular films as you are saying, if you look at the 60s list there were a good amount of lesser known films. Maybe there could be more but that isn't going to change unless people like yourself with unique taste makes recommendations then actually votes for those movies.

Miss Vicky
02-11-16, 12:55 PM
You have to pick movies everyone has seen and likes. I don't feel like I have the freedom to really pick the movies I love and think are great because I'll be the only vote and they won't make the list.

If you refuse to vote, then this just becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. You have no way of knowing what people have and haven't seen and without your vote, some films that might have made it won't because you assumed they didn't have a chance. Furthermore, there are other ways to increase the odds of people voting for the movies you favor. You can promote them on the forum by suggesting them in the preliminary list threads or in recommendation threads for the list's theme. You can join a HOF and nominate an eligible but possibly obscure film. You can also contact people directly and "trade" movies by asking them to watch a particular film that you want on the list and in return you watch something that they want. These methods work. You just have to be willing to put in the effort.

Zotis
02-11-16, 01:02 PM
I don't think it's going to change as long as most people have mainstream taste though. And I can't expect that to ever change. If you want to know what my favorite 25 of a particular category are, feel free to pm me anytime. I love giving out recs.

I think the 60's list turned out better because most of the more mainstream prople don't watch older movies. Hopefully the same will be true of the 50's, but I still suspect there will be way too many Hollywood movies on it.

Personally I haven't seen enough 50's films to come up with a top 25, but I could probably give you my top 5 or 10.

Oh, and for the record, even though I knock mainstream taste I still agree that everyone has the right to be as plebian as they want to. It doesn't neccessarily make them terrible people. :D :p

The Sixties list is made up of almost a third of foreign language films. There's films that have appeared on a number of lists that would be classed as obscure and artistic. Also I don't think because films are American and/or Mainstream that they aren't artistic or whatever. Try and lobby your films and encourage others to watch, send in a list and your films might make it. I don't know your exact taste, but judging quickly from your top 100 so far, it isn't completely filled with obscure films, most of them I've heard of and a lot are popular around here.

That's a good point. Onibaba showed up on your top 100 recently that made the Countdown at #62. could've been higher with your vote. Also not sure how obscure it is but i know i hadn't heard of Woman in the Dunes until the lead up to the 60s Countdown and that managed to make the top 20.

I see a bunch of Ozu, Kurosawa, Bergman and Fellini making it. The 400 Blows from Truffaut, possibly Pickpocket from Bresson but maybe not since Au Hasard Balthazar missed the 60s, the first two Human Conditions from Kobayashi, Ordet from Dreyer, The Wages of Fear from Clouzot. And maybe other foreign films. It depends what everybody watches in the lead up to the Countdown really.

I disagree with this. I'm not really enjoying the documentaries countdown much because I haven't even heard of most of the docs on the list so far, but I'm looking forward to revealing my list after it's over. To me, that's the best part. I love seeing the stuff that didn't make the countdown. That's the stuff that people listed because they love them, not because they were concerned about whether or not they would make the list.

Honestly, i think that is actually a thing. My brother in law used to end up in prison all the time when he had a guaranteed job when he got out, since he changed jobs he hasn't been in since. He used to come back like a five year old telling me all the new friends he made, and books he read and activities he participated in.

I guess for some people it's a joke of a punishment. They get free room and board, a library, a gymn, free food, and people to hang out with. All they have to do is some crime they want to. It's like a slap on the wrist, and going to prison is something they can brag about.

I agree with everything you said there and it is awful obviously. I can honestly say my brother in law wasn't attracted to prison for any of those reasons though, guy is in his mid 30s, great job making very good money. He just hasn't fully grown up and it was clearly like a month (he only commited very minor crimes, i think the longest he ever spent in jail was 15 weeks) holiday from his family with the sort of people he grew up with, since he came through the foster care system. His job back whenever he got out made it easy for everything to work out, since he moved to a better paying job he hasn't been back and i don't think he ever will again.

You can have the last word as long as you don't respond after this post.

Listen Camo, you need to understand something about having conversations with people on the internet. There are certain rules you have to follow. You can't just keep posting forever. If everyone did that it would be total chaos and anarchy. The fabric of the wired would fall apart at it's seams.

And that's why you have to let me have the last word. Because I can stay up later than you.

Fair enough. I wont sit patiently calculating the exact right moment to slip the last word in four months from now during a heated argument between Swan and Sean so it will be buried never to be found again.

Okay, but it isn't going to be until four months from now. Camo is showing himself to be a worthy adversary of wits.

Edit: I guess the last word was mine after all.
