The one and only time Holden Pike actually made a post in Sexy Celebrity's Movie Commentaries (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=1088662#post1088662) he posted this picture of Geena Davis in Earth Girls Are Easy and now I constantly see guests looking at it in "Who's Online."

All I know is I once had TWO Rockstars in one day... and two aspirins I think it was.... don't do that. I took a nap and when I woke up, I felt.... loopy. Might be hard to imagine, but I felt like my mind was racing and I couldn't "get ahold of myself." There was this weird feeling of mental disorganization. It was scary. Probably a low tolerance to caffeine, were you perspiring severely or having shortness of breath as well? I have done my share of certain chemical compounds and never really found the caffeine to interact with me in a way that was seemingly detrimental.

Funny fact, they say if you ingest caffeine before a nap, when you wake up you'll feel 100% and not groggy whatsoever. Tried it one day, actually worked.

I've taken several energy shots before at once. And certainly felt it. I definitely have had a lot of caffeine in my life. Normally I would figure it's a non issue, but when one takes quality over quantity into consideration, and you have someone who is literally posting wikipedia information in threads, it just seems like spam and like he's trying to up a post count. Now I could be entirely incorrect, but I've seen this sort of thing before.

I don't think they are asked why.

...But if they bump say 2 dozen old threads in the course of a few minutes?

No one can possibly have that many stars on their mind at one time, when it suddenly occurs to them to go search for those specific people & topics because the very person or topic they were thinking about (because say, they just saw a movie with that star) comes up in a search (can they?)

I'm not asking just about the nut who's bumping old threads tonight. I mean in general. We see stuff like this a lot, and even if the person bumping the thread has something interesting to say, someone usually asks them why they bumped an old thread. Either they should bump the old thread, or start a duplicate thread, but both answers can't be correct.

Sometimes new members just want to start posting quickly, and one way to do that is to search for old threads that sound interesting. They don't always use the search feature. Sometimes they just browse through various sections of the forum.

That's what I did when I first joined, but I started with the Movie Questions section, and answered a bunch of old unanswered questions so nobody complained. But when they pick random threads and just try to get involved, it seems to annoy people.

Hi gbg. I've been told to bump old threads because, when I first came here, I didn't know where the search button was and started out posting redundant topics, but I've never been criticized for bumping an old thread. (Of course I didn't bump 2 dozen of them in a half hour!) ;)

In general I would just assume use the old thread because it's already got a plethora of info and insight (mostly ;)) But I figure people think they're gonna get a better reaction to a thread that's fresh and still got that new car smell. Sorry if I misunderstood you GB, and I do agree with you, both cannot be correct, but it's not really like we personally have any say in it, so whatever happens happens.

Yeah, the timing on my question probably wasn't the best, and I'm certainly not trying to defend the guy who's just randomly bumping threads tonight, but this question has been on my mind for a while, and I just thought someone might have some insight into this issue.

Personally, I don't mind when people bump the old threads as long as they have something to add to the discussion, but for some reason, it seems to bother some people.

I think people are reacting to the specifics of the circumstances.

Like say I bumped the thread about Tom Green, but my post was that I just saw this guy in some movie or in some news story and hadn't seen nor heard about him in a decade.

If that was the only thread I bumped this evening, I don't think anyone would care about the age of the thread.

(except maybe Sexy Celebrity would probably have a comment.) Wot? Wot? ;)

P.S. I remember this one scene from the Tom Green show where he was being pulled in a rickshaw, was dressed as a Scotsman wearing a kilt, and was screaming (just a long moaning scream) into a megaphone while being pulled up & down some sort of public thoroughfare - it was like a walkway next to a lake or a beach or something. If anyone could find or give me a link to that clip, I'd be much obliged!

They don't bother me when someone bumps old threads, so they don't really stick in my memory for long, so I'd have to go back and search, but there have been a few of them recently. Weird. I don't know. Usually people only say something if someone is bumping a lot of old threads at one time. As i said i usually don't even notice anyway, the only time i ever bring it up is if someone starts a thread that clearly would have been made multiple times on a movie forum like overrated movies. I've heard it's not really fake... not intended to be fake at least... they just don't question the stories. You could invent a fake story and go on and perform it and they won't question if you're legit. Some might be real stories. I do think a lot are fake, though.

They are obviously mostly fake at least. I think it probably started out with mostly real stories but they had to get more outrageous when the show was massive at one point. On one of those panel shows Jerry was saying that he would only be given a card with the title of the segment say "my family won't accept my wife" then it would turn out to be a horse or something. Doubt that is even true but it is hilarious to think about.

Screw it. I should just get monkeys to play all the characters.

Sounds like you're ready for the big time

Anomalisa is great my second favourite of last year after Going Clear.

And i have to agree with MV, Cera always plays George Michael. The only film i can think of that he tried something different was Youth In Revolt and it just felt like George Michael trying to act like a badass.

Welp, I have revised the first two chapters to first-draft level. They are, more or less, what I want on a basic level before really thinking about my script as a cohesive whole.

Need to do the same with the following chapters, then re-read the entire script. Then, if all is good, I can declare it a complete first draft. :)

Don't stop at 70 pages.. it's an awkward length. Take it up to 90 and you'll have a genuine feature length script.

Swan
02-23-16, 11:46 AM
Of course, Foster, I agree. I find as I read over and think about each chapter, I have more to say. And there are some already-written scenes I know will need to be expanded on. I'm at 76 pages right now, so getting to 90 with all that in mind should be fairly easy. :)

Swan

And I'm not stopping there. This is just the first draft.

Need to start thinking about cinematic influences. So far its

The Great Silence
Breaking Bad
Tarantino, Vivre sa Vie, and Antichrist (being told in chapters)
Jodorowsky

Could look at other stuff for potential influence, help form the film and maybe give me new material.

Well you generally don't want to go past 110.
Pretty awesome swan, I've never written a feature before.

I want to start one this year though.
I think my 6 pages horror script took longer than your 76 pages

Why do you believe one should not surpass 110?

Thanks though dude. If you do write one, and need someone to give you feedback, feel free to shoot me a PM or something. :)

Industry standard.. no one wants a spec script past that length.
Just stands to reason that if you put all that work into a screen play you might as well make it conform to what is considered a viable length for production.

Saul was pretty decent first season, but these first two episodes of season two have been really awesome. He's finally acting like the criminal lawyer we all know and love. Same with Mike.

Oh, and of course, one of the influences has got to be my favorite book, Blood Meridian, by Cormac McCarthy. Like Breaking Bad and Tarantino, I can't help but feel it's overwhelming influence all the time.

Interesting to consider, especially if you want into the industry. I'll keep it in mind but I don't think I'll live by that. The script is going to be as short or as long as the story ends up deeming necessary, I think.

sometimes in movies they'll make fun of a writer by saying their spec script is 200+ pages. Can't remember where I saw that

are you using screen writing software for proper formatting ?
otherwise the number of pages will be inconsistent with industry standard and you won't quite know where it falls

I have an idea for a film..

Zombie Rhinos vs Nazi Hippos - all the Rhinos in Britain's zoos become infected by a zombie virus. A renegade group of far-right hippos fights against the rampaging zombie rhino horde! An MI5 agent,a blonde bimbo, and a gamekeeper are caught in the middle. They must fight to escape Britian and the war!
