Yep. 7A is a bit too light for me.

matt72582
05-12-15, 01:52 PM
I like them light, because it's more smooth to play, and I want to control the sound more With sticks like 2B, you can play lightly, but still have a loud thump, but it makes for good exercises, playing with huge trees, and then playing 7A, feels like silk.

What kind of set/cymbals do you have?

I once saw a PBS documentary on the human mind and how these 3 different people had unique problems due to injuries.

Question 1
Whether the Belief that there are such Beings as Witches is so Essential a Part

manifestly savours of Heresy.

Question 2
If it be in Accordance with the Catholic Faith to maintain that in Order to bring

conversely, could produce such an Effect.

I completely agree, a lot of the blame has to go on the quack therapists who installed false memories in these kids. No doubt some were just flat out lying, but I truly believe some of the others came to believe this happened to them which is tragic :( .

Camo thanks for the link. I'm surprised to hear that anyone here knows of this old stuff from the 1980s. I'm in my early 50s and I remember the satanic cult scare, it was big.

Before that in the 1970s there were these strange news reports of cattle being dismembered in the middle of the night. It was a mystery on how it was being done and there was a lot of talk that UFOs were responsible. As a kid I remember being scared as it was on the nightly news often. Then the farm animal mutilations were blamed on satanic cults. Which might be the beginning of the 1980s fear of satanism.

You know I said it was like the Salem Witch Hunts, but it was more like the red communist scare in America during the 1950s with McCarthyism.

I'm out of here for the night.

CR, you should try some foreign films. You're missing most of the world!

Consider this - they'd have to be great films to make it in the US, so you know they have to be good. People hate reading subtitles, no one I know personally will watch them. I would rather know the language as I like to see the visual, usually the facial expressions, and to have a synchronization of audio and video. Also, sometimes you can read faster than the action. Still, it's so worth it.

I recommend "La Strada" - I think Gulieta Masina's performance is the 2nd greatest by a female (after Rowlands in "Woman....") It's an amazing story, it's very heartfelt, I just have a feeling it's your kind of film. Anthony Quinn is so great, and Richard Basehart is good as well...

This book written in 1980 had a lot of influence on the Satanic Panic and the false accusations that would come from it - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Remembers

Obviously it turned out to be bs  . Also good night Citizen :)

What did you think of His Girl Friday Cob?

I had a great time watching it!

I had already seen Wilder's The Front Page, so a large portion of the plot wasn't new to me anymore, but even though I liked Wilder's film, I think I like His Girl Friday even better. The "gender change" works remarkably well (in the original play the two main characters are males) and kind of makes the film even darker, which I loved.

It's also better structured and therefore a little less adventurous than Hawks' Bringing Up Baby, but again I think I prefer His Girl Friday over it, because it's so incredibly clever and fittingly fast. I do think Bringing Up Baby has some other qualities that His Girl Friday hasn't, though, so it's a tough choice.

Anyway, I really liked it, which is probably what you were most interested in. ;)

Camo
05-14-15, 10:29 AM
Glad to see you liked it. You lost me a bit at first since I haven't seen The Front Page. Then you pulled me back in with the Bringing Up Baby talk ;) . His Girl Friday is excellent, though not a top 10 Hawks for me. There's no doubt that it's one of the most tightly conceived and structured Hollywood creations, but I just prefer Hawks in other modes than his mode for that film. Interesting that you bring up the gender change. In Notre Musique, Godard uses stills from His Girls Friday to indicate that Hawks doesn't know the difference between man and woman. The more Hawks I watch, the more I agree with this statement.

I prefer his remake of Bringing Up Baby, Man's Favorite Sport?, to the original. It has the politics, fun, and charisma of the original, but is much more laid back and lackadaisical like the best of late Hawks.

Gunslinger there's no set in stone date so there is still time!

Oh good. I'll see if I can make it.

Will definitely watch Notre Musique and Man's Favorite Sport then. I'm interested how Godard defines "woman" and "man".

Strangely party city had much better costume stuff than costume cabaret.

I got a pirate shirt and a woman's blonde hippie wig.. only blonde wig without bangs.
Going to a stylist tomorrow and see if they can cut it and style it for lestat.

Party city also had "retractable fangs" with a tongue lever but after reading the reviews online I decided to pass.

I really want to get a massive Big Trouble in Little China commentary. Swan, Nostro, HK, and Slob and anyone else!

I'd be up for a Big Trouble commentary if I was able when it came to it

You can take Party City wigs to a stylist and get it cut?

Yup! It's a cheaper quality and you can't use anything with heat, but you can definitely cut and style it. I already have hairspray designed for wigs :p

So I am at the AMC cinema here to see Mad Max: Fury Road. Had a meal at the bar (BLT pizza is delicious btw). Anyway noticed they have a wine made by none other than Francis Ford Coppola. Bought a 5 oz glass. Because f**k it he made The Godfather and Apocalypse Now is a Top 10 favorite film of mine. The moral of the story is clear. I need to stick to beer, and Francis needs to stick to movies. Oh well. It was probably still a better choice over the Dan Akroyd Crystal Skull vodka.

I just added Persona and The Triplets of Belleville to my collection. I also replaced my Ratatouille, Wall E, Emporer's New Groove, Kronk's New Groove, Brother Bear and Brother Bear 2 DVDs with Blu Ray.
