How come most of the films are from back in the 30s/40s/50s?

a style or genre of cinematographic film marked by a mood of pessimism, fatalism, and menace. The term was originally applied (by a group of French critics) to American thriller or detective films made in the period 1944–54 and to the work of directors such as Orson Welles, Fritz Lang, and Billy Wilder.

Yeah I haven't seen really any. But then again I don't really understand what the genre means. Some people might call them old gangster films. But after WWII there was a bunch of darker films made about criminals, cops, underworld, shady women. Usually the story is told from the POV of the bad guy, who we find out has some redeeming qualities, but is doomed in the end. Some noirs that you might have heard of are:
Sunset Blvd (1950)
The Big Sleep (1946)
The Killers (1946)
The Maltese Falcon (1941)
Double Indemnity (1944)
Just to name a few.

There's nothing like a cold shower on a sweltering day. I came home feeling all hot and sticky and dizzy from deterioration . I downed 4 pints of Robinsons juice with 5 pounds of ice in it, and then jumped in the shower. I feel like a new man. I feel like I can beat Usain Bolt in the 100 metres!
While we are on subject of fruit barley water/juice. I've been looking on forums where British ex pats have been discussing this matter, and they say they can find no American equivalent. The closest thing they could find was powdered crap like Crystal Lite and Kool-aid. No barley water in the U.S. or Australia for that matter. I can't survive without Robinsons. I drink 2 bottles a week. I've probably drank enough of it in my life to fill an Olympic size swimming pool!

She reads books about raising children from authors who dont have children so they dont have first hand experience. She tries to tell others how to raise their child as well..
She has to have gluten free food so her child cant have gluten, lactose or anything along that line...
She breast feed her child... well her breast milk contains lactose... apparently she never paid attention in biology class..
Oh there are many other things..
That reminds me of my sister when she had kids. Anytime anyone complained about anything that she did, her standard answer was "When you have kids, you'll understand.".

Usually on wedding day everyone has their party smiles on. Did she do anything to you? Or do you not just don't like the cut of her jib?

She thinks she's better than everyone else.. and she knows all there is to know... she's a drunk and a snob... she's from Johnson County Kansas.... pretty much most of them act that way...
Let me tell you what she did one Christmas... She brought her son to my sister's house to watch him.. while my nephew went to the movies and she went back home to relax.. she didnt bring the child any bottles or anything.. just dropped him on my sister's doorstep... that baby cried all night for his mother... and my sister and her husband just went to bed... the rest of us who was awake had to do deal with the child... why couldnt she keep the child at home with her... mothers are supposed to put their children first...

It doesnt matter... as a parent .. it is your responsibility for your child.... I never dropped my daughter off at someone's door step...and expected them to take care of her.. while I just sat at home and did nothing... not even on my days off from work.. my child didnt go to daycare... she stayed home with me....

I dont see her much which is good..
Remember me talking about my sister not waiting for me to get off work to celebrate the holidays with them? Its because of my nephew's wife..(at the time, his girlfriend).. she cant change her schedule to eat at her parent's house early and my sister's late...
That child will be the kind that everyone picks on in school.. because his parents dont allow him to be social... and that he has to eat a special diet... etc...

90sAce has not been banned. Though I'm sure my saying this will be taken as evidence of an even deeper conspiracy. :)
He's been abducted by aliens and will be featured in the X-Files revival.

Even as a young boy growing up at the circus, I knew that something wasn’t quite right with me. The other kids used to pick on me because I preferred playing with dolls and make-up rather than plastic guns and footballs. I’d look down at my penis with revulsion and try to will it back into my body. Sometimes I’d even sneak into the bearded lady’s tent to try on her dresses. As I grew older and learned more about gender identity, I realized that I was a woman trapped inside a clown’s body. I have lived with this secret for many years, ashamed and afraid of being judged and ostracized. BUT NO LONGER! A year ago I started my transition into becoming the woman I was always meant to be. I’ve taken all the necessary steps, from hormone replacement therapy to breast augmentation. A few weeks ago I finally underwent the final step: inverting my penis into a vagina. Captain Spaulding was nothing more than a cocoon preparing the beautiful butterfly inside of me for her metamorphosis into the real world. I am born anew! Caitlyn Spaulding has finally blossomed! And I am looking forward to spreading my wings across the forum as your new heroine and inspiration!
Since I no longer have a penis, I doubt Sexy Celebrity will want anything to do with me, which means . . .
I’M SINGLE!!!!
So act quickly before somebody else sweeps me off my feet. Just be gentle. My new vagina hasn’t fully dilated yet.

Best scene in film history.
Oh there are times in both films were you see the clay sun.. which is that drawing... Too bad. I hoped for a sunflower monster that could beat the OH NOEEEEE NUT TEH BEEEEISSSS scene from the Nic Cage remake.

Minio... you know there are two different versions of the Nic Cage "The Wicker Man"... one where you see his legs get broken and one where you just understand they are broken...
I still hated it.. Even Robin Hardy was upset over the outcome...

The Cage remake was a turd.

I've seen Clockwork Orange, I suggested that for a college class, so we watched it and everyone hated it, especially the girls. I've not seen it since the 80s.
I've not seen The Wicker Man, The Count of Monte Cristo, Hunger, Dark Crystal.
Is The Wicker Man just not your type of film? I really dont consider it a horror.. never did.. many cultures believed in what that films discusses.
The Count of Monte Cristo is very good...
Hunger a great IRA film ...
The Dark Crystal.. one of my favorites as Im a fan of the conceptual artist of the film.
