My friend and I made a pact to make our first full-length debut film before we hit 35, and we're starting to make shorts and stuff a lot. I have a hand-me-down DSLR from my dad, but honestly I have been so into just using Filmic Pro (same app Sean Baker used for Tangerine) on my iPhone that I just want to make stuff with that for now. It's convenient as hell and really intuitive, and I just want to focus on more important things than the camera.

Is that a texan thing? In NYC we had a burger and it was grilled pattie and what every else you wanted on a bun. I didnt see sandwich on a menu apart from reuben and club which was with bread. Just curious. A bit of cultural interchange. :up: I remember my neighbour going to hawaii on her engagement several years ago and she came back talking about burgers being called sandwiches but when I went there as a teen burgers were all just burgers.

Ah, it was great, really! I didn't know what to expect. I went over thinking I was gonna make an appearance and then leave. 6 hours later I was watching the ball drop in times square on the tv with a bunch of burned out karaoke chicks watching Mariah Carey, all talking shlt about her!

Very comfortable situation, though. We went upstairs to the studio. We snuck away from the girls ;)

As soon as the first bong hit started racing my heart, I picked up the bass, closed my eyes and played very softly and servicably. My line signal was super hot so I had to be careful not to spike anyone because we were all running on one submixed input as one stereo track. No post edits or fader adjustments!

I'm often guilty of heavy post adjustments though, usually to try and compensate for inadequate equipment, (or falling in love with filters). :lol: But I do a lot in one take,and unplanned.

The best stuff comes out when you are unplanned. I think one trick is to just leave everything rolling, no matter if it's a couple of hours, and just lay stuff down..then you can always go back, pick the best nuggets, and shine those up and arrange them. I used to be dead set against a click track, but after shooting my foot off many times, I always use some sort of tempo guide whether a drum loop or whatever...you never know when you'll want to insert a quick few bars of Bee Gees styled rhythm section!

I got this stabilizer the other day. I had a phone stabilizer which was cool, but returned it and replaced it with this - which works with DSLR cameras. Which, until I get my vintage super 16mm camera, is my go-to type of camera. :D

my daughter always wanted to work with animals...after getting her associate's degree .. she didn't go straight to work...finally after 2 years of doing nothing she volunteered at our zoo...no pay of course but experience is what she needed...then 2 or 3 months later...shes started working at the aquarium here...there she gets paid but it helped her narrow the field of zoology she wanted..she plans on becoming a wildlife educator....she has one foot in the door already at the zoo and both give her the experience to move in further..

Go get that job at the movie theatre and look for a way to volunteer at a play house theatre which may help you becoming that director you want to be

I may have been visibly shaking a tiny bit, but the dialogue was great and I had an excellent conversation with one of the employees while waiting for the manager to come out. I'm not often proud of myself, but the idea of doing something like this has petrified me since my teens, so tonight I am.

Recently watched Logan's Run again and was left with several questions this time for some reason (hope no one mind's if I ask them here).

When Logan is tasked by the computer to take on a secret mission to find Sanctuary the computer puts up "number of unaccounted for runners" and the number is over 1000. Logan is shocked, but somehow he jumps to the completely unrelated conclusion that no one killed in Carousel regenerates. What does the number of unaccounted for runners have to do with those killed at Carousel - who are not runners and are all accounted for? Why does Logan seem to think the number of "unaccounted for runners" is counting all the accounted for 30-year-olds killed at Carousel? We learn later that "unaccounted for runners" ended up victims of Box (the robot), but why does Logan leap to this unrelated conclusion (that defies everything he ever believed) about regeneration?

Why does Francis chase Logan? We know Francis witnessed Logan let a runner go - so I guess that's the main reason. But doesn't it ever occur to Francis that Logan may be on a mission to find Sanctuary for the agency that employs the Sandmen since he knows that Logan still has a couple years on his lifeclock and just came out of a top secret meeting with headquarters? Francis knows Logan's age (established in the film) but then hunts him as if he's a runner. Logan can't be a runner because he's not old enough - wouldn't Francis realize something's gone wrong with Logan's palm crystal since he knows Logan's age? Then Francis offers to make a deal with Logan if he'll turn himself in while Francis terminates Jessica - his reasoning? He says because "she's a runner" - but she's not, her life clock hasn't even turned to the final color yet. Sure, Francis could maybe arrest her for having a connection to Sanctuary, but he couldn't kill her for being a runner since she's not old enough to be one.

And I also had some problems with the final scene - going back into the city via the ocean ducts, just leaving the old man outside with no supplies, and how all the people from the city just seem to walk up to the old man, when earlier the only way Logan could find access to the city was through the ocean ducts. (But that's enough for now)! ;)

And I also had some problems with the final scene - going back into the city via the ocean ducts, just leaving the old man outside with no supplies, and how all the people from the city just seem to walk up to the old man, when earlier the only way Logan could find access to the city was through the ocean ducts. (But that's enough for now)! ;)
