i'm watching hi diddle diddle (1943) a delightfully silly wartime comedy. my favourite bit is where billie burke has gone into a nightclub with two other people, they check their hats in and one says 'i'm sure i've seen that hatcheck girl before' and Billie Burke replies 'she's a very particular friend of the producer of this picture, he sticks her in every pucture he makes.'

I'm ashamed to say, as a Steven King fan, that I haven't read the book. I don't know how anyone could be disappointed though, it certainly packed a punch. Took me a good few days to recover.

So...What'd you think of them ?
I'll have to give it some time for all 4 to really sink in to give you my honest opinion, 'Son of Saul' might need a 2nd viewing.
But If I had to tell you what I thought of one of them. Well...
https://fanart.tv/detailpreview/fanart/movies/336804/movieposter/mustang-56ae9098cadf9.jpg
The way it was directed and shot was so simplistic, yet rich. It's a beautiful tale of people who are free spirits, but want the Emotional Justice of breaking away from their trapped "lives." The way It was crafted was with such Orgasmic Joy, you can literally feel tenderness and love drench from the screen; whether our protagonists are playing near the beach, are at a football game, or just having fun in their bedrooms. I expected It to be emotional, but I wasn't expected It to be so intense. Really Superb acting from all 5 of the near first-time actresses, wasn't really expecting that either. Really Excellent Film.
1st Watch Rating: 4.5
I might even bolster It up to a 5, but that remains to be seen...
It was good. I gave it 3, but that's what I give a good movie - one I certainly recommend.

How was it? I keep pausing when I see it in my list but move on. I just need a little nudge!! I just finished Christine (2016)...it's a pretty powerful film about depression and is based on the true life story of news reporter Christine Chubbuck, and her life inspired the 1976 movie Network. I liked this much better than Network (1976). Yeah, you should watch it!
Just watched Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time. I've never been a horror fan up for the all the years of my existence but playing the new games Friday the 13th and the PC port Dead By Daylight has made me want to watch all the classics. I'm looking for Halloween and Friday the 13th now.
I remember having nightmares for a week as a kid thanks to the werewolf Goosebumps episode and as such it soured me toward horror films all these years but now I'm watching them mostly to laugh. Like Scream, I was laughing within the first 5 minutes of it just because the girl went from being slightly creeped out by a guy on the phone to flirting with him and lying about having a boyfriend and carrying on a conversation with him until he threatens her. I looked it up later and I guess it's more of a black comedy than outright serious horror film but that's fine with me since I find humor in these things. I appreciate my movies to be serious but some of these horror films seem to intentionally not take themselves seriously and I can appreciate that since I find humor in it.

The Bye Bye Man.
I heard the writer, Robert Schneck, on a podcast where he describes the back story for this film. It was truly one of the more creepy things I'd ever heard (and that's saying something). I'm sure the film version will fail where the legend triumphs but we shall see.
The tale, by the by, came to light in one of those Ghost Story Chowder Society (or Mary Shelley tell me a tale) evenings where people gather to scare one another with scary stories. This one, so goes the claim, is based on some Louisiana hoodoo that evidently can't be undone.
Anyway, if you like this sort of thing you can follow Mr. Schneck's facebook page here:
https://www.facebook.com/historianofthestrange/
He's always got an interesting tale to tell.
The Bye Bye Man.

LOL I flipped out, but from the eyeball scene so you're safe. Looks good - nothing original but looks fun.

Well, I think it's sort of unoriginal if all you've got to judge is the film. If you look into the backstory though it adds another dimension.

Loved it dani! I've heard good things about it and it did not disappoint. The cinematography alone is worth watching. Dev Patel is great, but the real winner for me was Kidman. I have not seen her so unguarded and thought her performance was very raw and beautiful. I would also mention the woman playing the biological mother (Priyanka Bose) was amazing as well even though she had a very small part.
The film does drag a bit at some parts and that is my only small criticism.

Sunny Pawar was great as well. Forgot to mention him. Yeah, a few scenes really got to me. The one when he finally finds his bio mother or the one where Kidman's character tries to console his adoptive brother with her husband... :bawling:
Same for me. And Kidman won me over. Usually I cant warm to her but I found her portrayal so real in this. I've seen complaints it drags a bit but I was engrossed. Made me wnt to go back to India.

Dr. Strange for the first time since it's on Netflix. Probably in my top 5 of Marvel movies, enjoyed it way more than I thought it would. Attribute that mostly to Cumberbatch, I can see now why he's so revered by many. Also, the moral I got from that movie is don't text and drive - if you do, hope you come out of it with healed hands and magic powers.

Think this is only my 3rd Brazilian film after City of God and Pixote, enjoyed both of them tho. Could almost call them an odd trilogy with City of God being a more stylized; hollywood-like view of the slums and streetkids, Pixote being a more straightforward brutal view of them and Bus 174 being an actual documentary about at least one street kid and his crimes.
Looking forward to it.

I'm halfway through this & it's quite meh. Loved all the other Bourne movies, but am struggling with this one. Hoping the second half will be better. Alicia Vikander acting like a scared rabbit in the 1st half. Hope she feels more confident in her acting abilities in the remainder of the movie.
Edit: Couldn't finish the movie even though there were only 20 minutes or so left. Very weak. Movie consisted primarily of people chasing other people. The first scenes were like this & there was more of this when I bailed out. Disappointing.
