Of course a priest can and should. I just think I’d feel lost if I were on the receiving end. Alas, that is, however, one of the most memorable scenes in the film.

This is a dose - Everything Everywhere All at Once - It's "said" that it has received universal acclaim, although I did think it was about a half hour too long.
It's sci-fi, with subtitled segments and English language segments, in which the owners of a Chinese laundromat in the US get audited by the IRS. The wife/mother of the couple is in the crosshairs as her daughter wants Mom to accept her new girlfriend, her father, an invalid, has arrived from China and her husband wants to sell the business. If that were not enough, the people of the Alpha Universe are hitting her with alternate universes in which she has different lives. There's a big, dark bagel looming, which seems to be a black hole into which she can jump.
There's an awful lot going on here, and it's hard to keep track of which universe is the current one without a scorecard. Does it have an ending or conclusion? Yeah, in fact it has 2 of them, so don't leave until the long credits roll.
Like all of the A24 films I have seen, it's intellectually challenging and worth seeing even if it doesn't entirely work for you.
It was a decent night downtown, some people returning, showing at The Charles, one of our indie film outlets here in Baltimore.

This one's interesting, from one of my sets of old sci-fi-horror flicks, The Monolith Monster. In this one, shiny rocks from a meteor start to grow when they are exposed to water. Also, people, exposed to the rocks turn to stone themselves. These rocks have no purpose or intellegence, they just grow and fall on buildings, cars and people.
What's unusual is that this cheesy, drive-in feature is shot and acted quite well, in spite of its dubious concept. Everybody plays it straight. In an unusual twist, the cute kid in the movie also is turning to stone. Usually kids are untouchable in monster movies, but not this time.

Indeed (aware that he lived there), but I speak fluent Spain Spanish, and to me it sounded off not just accent-wise, but in terms of word choice (which, to be fair, could well be intentional for the purposes of the plot). In any case, I’ll probably rewatch Jauja, as I quite liked it, to form an opinion. He doesn’t exactly speak much Spanish in it, either. So I’m still a bit conflicted.

My Argentine friend spoke highly of Viggo and I can say my friend is more into arthouse and obscured cinema vs mainstream (I don't think he has watched LOTR films).
Also Viggo's partner is Spanish (i thought she was Argentine) aswell. Or maybe they lived in Argentina at one time

Yes, thanks to the coding classes and guidance available, students who want to take their enthusiasm for Minecraft to the next level through coding may do so. Java, in particular, allows children to learn how to make Minecraft mods, allowing them to personalize the game.

I remember watching the movie “Titanic”(1997) on our television. As a child, I was very fascinated by ships. So I watched the whole movie with my parents. Yeah, that was embarrassing. It was an embarrassment that was safely left ignored. And now I can download it online and enjoy watching it every weekend.
The film is a masterpiece. I still enjoy this movie to date. No matter how many times I have rewatched this movie, I cry like a baby every time. DiCaprio and Kate are wonderful. The movie was full of emotions. I liked the details of the movie. It became the first movie to gross $1 billion.

It became the first movie to gross $1 billion.
i remember seeing titanic as a kid, it made me cry alot when jack died

Agreed, it is very overrated, but still good. I’ve only seen it once before, and a monochrome palette appeals to me right now.

Oooooh now then. If you enjoy it half as much as I did, you'll enjoy it alot.
Also check out the director's film 'The Silence' if you can. Very well directed with a few similarities to DARK, aesthetics wise and in other ways too.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1361835/
Well, this was fast. Shame it didn’t last longer. I watched the last season with a migraine when I could (which, somehow it’s surprisingly fitting with the visuals and all), so wondering if that has impacted perception much.
I did enjoy it immensely, it was that proverbial binge viewing, but I did feel that it went ever so slightly downhill towards the end (then again, the only two shows that I’d say had a perfect ending are Breaking Bad & Hannibal).
The first season was just about perfect, visuals, narrative, everything, exactly the sort of Primer-like experience I’m always on the lookout for. The last season, especially towards the end, veered a little into His Dark Materials territory (especially the Will part where the books are concerned), and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it felt like it was slightly moving away from what I adored in season 1. But then again, I also admire the ambition & scale involved in wrapping it up. All in all, it was spectacular - thanks so much for getting me to finally watch it!
Guess I’ll be on to Silence soon.

Glad you enjoyed. I felt the same as you - was disappointed a little by the finale. But then how else could it have ended? One of the best shows I've seen in the last 10 years. That 1st season really is something else. Baran Bo Odar will be working in Hollywood soon if he isn't already.

I really enjoyed it. Story not too cliched (especially when it comes to the mother), and such amasing visuals. The cinema I always go to announced a contest last night right before the screening: whoever recognised Bjork first would get a free popcorn. I don’t like popcorn, but otherwise it seemed absurd to me, because how do you not recognise Bjork?!

Excellent movie until it was bowdlerized. The full frontal scenes of Harvey Keitel have disappeared for some reason.
I enjoyed the film very much. I have read that Herzog said this film was neighter a sequel nor a remake of the 1992 film. Btw it is the 2009 film directed by Herzog i have seen, since u mentioned Keitel. I have never seen that film.

Castellari also directed The Heroin Busters, which is worth a watch for the bananas chase scene climax (switches between foot, car, plane and keeps going when any sane movie would have called out a day).

Forgot about Keoma. That one's good too. Nice hallucinatory atmosphere and a nice Franco Nero peformance.

Thanks Rockatansky.
Found it on Youtube, in decent quality. The Inglorious Bastards is a good movie. Tons of machinegun shooting, and an interesting mix of characters.

I saw Keoma a year ago. During my second semi big spaghetti periode. Nero gets his ass kicked a few times in that movie.

Bizarrely, this felt like one where the comedy actually worked. Still a bit too stupid for my liking, and plagiarises Romancing the Stone, but not awful. And Brad Pitt!

I don’t blame you. I mean, to be clear, by no stretch of imagination is this a good film. But I had a migraine (mild enough), long meeting, hadn’t been to a cinema for ages, so.

Probably this, unless I bail out towards the end of the day. Which has started out revoltingly, but ah, well. At least I’m looking forward to this, what with the debate on blame-shifting millennials etc.

I am actually kind of impressed by how awful it was. Easily one of the worst things I’ve seen in my life, worse than Cloud Atlas, and that’s saying a lot. And yes, the more I think about it, the more I think it exemplifies the worst of how it’s fashionable to perceive the world right now, all the way to being the worst version of you, and whatnot.
Also finding myself offended (not a word I use often) by the pixelated genitals. What the hell?! Either you show genitals or you don’t, but this is just nuts.

This would be a funnier sentence if auto correct had left “genitals” as is.

Huge fan of Keitel. Even when he has a relatively small rôle (Thelma & Louise), he’s brilliant.

The fortunes of Hollywood - tonight's movie is Tarantula, a 1950's classic "big bug" movie. In this case a big spider terrorizes the usual isolated dusty western town. I recall being a kid and finding a printed ad for this at our local theater. I went and it scared the crap out of me.
It stars John Agar, a star whose career was derailed when his marriage to none other than Shirley Temple ended. He found himself consigned to big bug movies after that. It co-stars Leo G Carroll, a dignified British actor who also found himself in big-bug movies. This one also has a big guinea pig, but the big spider is much more scary.
As a sideline, it also features a short, early appearence of Clint Eastwood as a pilot in an Air Force plane that shoots the big spider.

Great suggestion! I watched it again last night. Like you, I saw it when it came out. My grade school buddy and I always went to every '50s horror movie. Another good one with John Agar is The Mole People (1956).
I've seen Tarantula again since the '50s, but I love the way they put those stories together. Them! was good too, but in Tarantula the technical guys made the tarantula scenes life like and believable-- moreso than the ants in Them!.
Agar's problem was booze. He had great supporting roles in a few John Wayne movies, notably She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, and Sands of Iwo Jima, both in 1949; but after getting DUIs and some jail time, the big studios dropped him.
Wasn't Mara Corday, who played Carroll's lab assistant, a knock out? One of her many credits was as Playmate of October, '58 in Playboy Magazine. What a dish!

I'll have to recheck The Mole People, have it on a disk set. As for Them! it's somewhat of a classic outside the world of old monster movies, being one that actually has credible acting, not to mention the little girl who screams THEM! and gave the movie its title. I have to wonder just what they did to that girl to get that blood curdling scream out of her.
And yeah, Mara Corday was quite a looker. If you need more detail on that, Google Images can inform you.
