Besides Close-up and The Koker Village trilogy, Taste of Cherry is one of my favorite Kiarostamis. Excellent existentialist cinema, with a metafilm touch. No wonder it won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. One of my favorites from that year!

To me, this is the only Lynch film that is genuinely complicated.

I always love reading people's different interpretations of "ambiguous" or "complicated" films, but only after I form mine, and in this case I haven't yet. I will definitely check the video out after I finish watching the film...again.

It's basically deleted scenes that Lynch was unable to use due to the length, it's not anyones interpretation. But yeah it'd probably be best seeing it after the film.

I've only seen his last two: Like Someone In Love and Certified Copy so far, liked them alot. Will probably go for The Koker Trilogy after Taste of Cherry. I'm particularly interested in Where Is The Friends Home? since it was made before Close Up and yet he didn't get that much recognition until Close Up, and i know a few who think of Where Is The Friends Home? as one of his very best.

It was one of my favourite films and i'm sure i'd still love it but i'm kinda hesitant to see it again since it was one of my first Noirs, wasn't familiar with the various common Noir tropes at the time.

Today while flipping around I came across a movie called Flipped (2010)

Got interested and saw the last 20 minutes (which is unfortunate because I felt I'd really like this movie and wanted to see it from the beginning without knowing the end). So I found it On Demand and will watch the whole thing.

It reminded me very much of The Wonder Years as it's a coming of age story of young love during the mid 60's. And it also had the voice-over narrations (similar to "Kevin's" narration of The Wonder Years) but from the points of view of both the male and female leads.

It shows that different epochs can be just one cut away and has a great ending (although the famous Griffith ending wasn't actually thought up by Griffith himself - I saw a French short made the year Griffith was starting that already had such an ending!). Oh, and it has Gish. <3

Even though now we got a four-hour-long version of Greed available, it's still filled with still photos and feels a little bit incomplete. Nonetheless, a great improvement over what it was for years, a 2-hour-long laugh of a movie. I already wrote on MoFo about von Stroheim and how his films were mutilated (even more badly that Welles' films) by producers, but finding it now will be quite hard, I believe. Anyway, I think that von Stroheim was too ambitious for his times and that resulted in his failure. The film itself, though, is a wonderful masterpiece.

It's hard to choose which one is better, so I'm not going to do it. I don't think that it is that important as long as both are wonderful movie experiences that somehow survived more than 90 years to grace our eyes and remind us that cinema is not an invention of yesterday.
