It is weird that i've never heard of it though, from the poster i've got a feeling my mum likes it if she has seen it, will have to ask her. Not really, IMO it's overrated. It'd be a great movie WITH THE RIGHT EDITING, which it doesn't have. It's just super long and unpolished. Yojimbo is a better Kurosawa film.

I never even heard of it until I saw the trailer before a movie I watched recently. I thought that looks like it might be a pretty big hit when it comes out. I looked it up and it was already on dvd. I guess it didn't do well but my wife and I thought it looked good.

Not that I paid much attention to the actual event, I remember it was a part of my childhood -
and it was everywhere: on news, on sports, on sit-coms, even on variety shows.

It was considered a major event (i.e. publicity stunt) that symbolized a turning point of the sexual revolution, "women's lib," and the then-just-burgeoning lifestyle movement (what is now known as the LGBQTUVWXYZ thing).

Fun fact, both of them are the protagonists of the two films directed by Lee Jeong-beom, The Man from Nowhere (Won Bin) and No Tears for the Dead (Jang Dong-gun). Won Bin can be seen in the great Bong Joon-ho thriller Mother (2009) and Jang Dong-gun was in the new Park Hoon-jung (New World, 2013) film V.I.P. (2017), the only good thing about that film was the violence and Dong-gun, I just want to see more films with him.

My favorite Kihachi Okamoto work, and the guy directed films like Samurai Assassin (1965), Kill! (1968), Battle of Okinawa (1971), Akage (1969)... Lots of great films! This is the film that made me fall in love with Nakadai acting (my favorite actor).
