My post from the 6th HOF:

I just watched this tonight. Being a pretty big crime and gangster film guy I thought it was something that could potentially appeal to me. But it really didn't. It's more to do with my taste certainly as I know there are a lot of mofos who really like this film. The characters felt hollow to me and there seemed to be a cultural barrier between the film and my viewing. The film was shot really well, but that's the only positive I could get out of it. The story bored me and the ending that a lot of people probably really like just didn't quite resonate with me. 1 down, 16 to go.

I like the first one a lot, but I'm not sure I've seen it's sequel since it came out - actually, I remember sneaking into the theater to watch it (I was 15 or 16 at the time). I think the first two are overly criticized, and I think it's funny how vocal people are about hating them. Which is probably to their benefit, to be honest - if a film can stir up that much emotion, there's something to it. Either way, it doesn't matter. I like them a lot, because I think the concept is genuinely horrifying and the execution proper.

It's about time I got to this. I did a sorting of my collection a few days ago to sort out all the movies I hadn't gotten to over the years. I buy much second hand or when there's a sale, so I often come away with 3-4 movies that I sort in but then forget about. When I was finished, I had 117. This one came in a bundle together with dial M and stranger on a train, so I guess there's some hitchkock in my future.
