I watched The Theory of Everything tonight.

Didn't really learn anything new since I'd seen a documentary about Hawking's life a few years back.
I cried a bit due to the subject matter. It's never easy watching someone deteriorate physically. The actor playing Hawking achieved a remarkable likeness right down to facial mannerisms of Hawking and contortions his face makes due to his affliction. But overall, nothing unexpected.

I still find it rather puzzling because it lacks the sublimity of the best films of Miyazaki, Takahata and Whisper of the Heart. But it is indeed a very good movie, I just don't see it as a great work of art.

Great thing about a lot of the Noirs I picked up is several are real short. I am able to make quick work of a lot of them today. This one is actually on 67 minutes long. Great for making a real dent in the BFI 100 Noir list.

Is it your first time, mark? It's a cool film, because you can keep getting back to it with time as you discover more films and recognize the film fragments used in it. Obviously, it has a masturbatory Godard mumbling over it and that's a love it or hate it thing.
