Goodbye Dragon Inn (2003) by Tsai Ming-Liang

This should be one of Tsai Ming-Liangs most radical movies in terms of that there is nearly no dialogue. Some people consider it his big masterpiece, so im really looking forward to it.

L'argent (1983) by Robert Bresson

L'argent is the last film of Robert Bresson, but it should also be one of his best!

Also, liking or disliking one movie from a director doesn't mean you're going to feel the same way about the director's other work. Take John Waters, for example. I thought I liked him. I love Serial Mom and liked Cry Baby and Pecker well enough and I find him amusing in the TV shows and film documentaries I've watched him in.

And then I saw Pink Flamingos.

Spring Breakers surprised me. I thought it was going to be entertaining, but I was more than just entertained. James Franco's performance amazed me because I actually didn't know he was in the film before I watched it, and I didn't realise it was him until two thirds of the way through. The content really appealed to me, and the film was well made and realistic. It was very entertaining.

Anyway... tonight I'm going to Wizardry (1991) an anime OVA based off an old video game. Not really very serious, but it looks entertaining.

Should be a very dark thriller. It's disturbing, because everytime I randomly click on film's timeline on my player I always get a creepy whispering. I've seen the director's experimental surrealism short and it was pretty good. Arrebato means 'rape', so it's gonna be one helluva disturbing experience.

How about it HK? I picture us running quite a fascist, totalitarian forum. We would institute 'Drew Barrymore Friday' where everyone would be forced to watch a Drew film, sport a Drew avi and generally just talk about her. We could ban all mention of Stanley Kubrick, forcing the Kubrickians to go undercover and discuss his films in a dark corner of the board. We could set up an orientation package for new members. When someone signs up they must watch Enter the Dragon, First Blood, Charlie's Angels, Die Hard and Taking of Pelham 123. What else? Oh, forum sanctioned torture of Masterman until he admits that Man of Steel is a piece of s*it! :D

Same here, I think. I really liked Submarine without being blown away, but I thought it was a unique take on the subject matter and a really promising debut. The cast for this one is a fantastic mix of "in" British stars and foreign wild-cards and Ayoade is tackling some interesting subject matter. Looking forward to it.

I started reading and watching a lot of stuff about (American) politics, lately, so it seems logical to start watching some interesting looking feature films about politics too. This one is also from the '70s, so that's two birds with one stone! If anyone has any good recommendations concerning films about politics, please feel free to share them with me!

A schoolteacher's attempt to escape the boredom of the outback for his annual holiday in Sydney lands him in a place the locals lovingly refer to as "The Yabba." Here, through well-meaning but forced hospitality, kindness and copious amounts of alcohol, he quickly falls into a Hell of drunken debauchery which robs him of all his resources and means of escape. The activity in the Yabba is fast and taut with action, suspense, brutality and a personal ambiguity which leaves our main character an emotional mess. Wake in Fright has a well written and explosive storyline which won't disappoint you.

I've been watching the anime TV series Cowboy Bebop (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0213338/?ref_=nv_sr_1) (I finished it yesterday night and I must say that I had a pretty good time) for the last two days, so I didn't watch any new films yet. I still need to watch a serious amount of '70s film and It seems that I'll start watching another TV series too (Fargo), but as it is quite late already, I'll settle with something smaller and more modern, so I can give the '70s movies and the TV series a more concentrated look. :p

This will be tonight's film:
