Well at the moment I'm on a bit of a superhero splurge, revisiting some films I've not seen in a while and filling in some of the gaps. Well I've got a few options but tonight I think I'll fill one of the biggest gaps with 1978's Superman. Really not a fan of the character though so my expectations aren't all that high. Hopefully I'm surprised

No, it will actually ruin some of the mystery of the early films. 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 is the best order if you haven't seen any of the movies yet. It's always better to watch a series according to its release date.

It's a snow day, doing some painting in the house, so I turned on the TV and what was on - the 2008 version of The Day the Earth Stood Still, in which Keanu Reeves becomes an alien (isn't he always?) visits the earth and prepares to perform a planetary reboot because humans have messed it up the earth so much. This movie itself is a reboot of the classic 1951 flick of the same name, mainly with amped-up special effects.

I can't quite figure it...the original was a low budget, but thoughtful movie that worked quite well, had decent acting and great old-timey black and white visuals. This version followed the same story, but spent most of its effort with great visual FX. IMDB gave it a 5.9, although I think it should be maybe a 6.4. Where it mainly loses is that it just doesn't have a reason for being. It tells the same story as the old one, but less engagingly, doesn't bring anything new and spends a lot of money getting there.

I'm not a big fan of the superhero genre, but i have heard some great things about this one. I was meaning to watch it this summer, but i forgot so im sitting down and watching it in a few minutes. Snyder isn't the best director but I hope he delivers something really good with Watchmen.

I really enjoyed it myself, even though it is flawed. It's definitely one of the grittiest superhero flicks that I've seen so far.

It's Donnie's nomination for the MoFo Hall of Fame and it looks like a lot of fun. It's also a nice occasion to watch another David Lean film!

On a related note, try and find the time to watch Lawrence of Arabia as soon as possible, I'm almost certain that you'll absolutely love it.

The last film watched was Man of Steel. Good film.

Saw it in the theaters. Came away unimpressed. Roommate rented it 2 nights ago and I watched the whole thing again to see if I was wrong. Ended up hating it even more.

Maybe I just don't appreciate Superman but I just don't think they will be able to make a Superman movie that I will like. I guess never say never but it's going be hard.

Then my first Manoel de Oliveira film, Francisca. Oliveira has made 12 films since 2000, pretty impressive for a director who just turned 105!

Starting off with something rather light. I've heard these films are incredible so I'm going to check them out starting with the first.

And then later tonight I'll maybe check out some Lynch. Oh yeah! I've never seen Wild At Heart but I hope it's crazy and insane!

A fitting role for Cage, Wild At Heart is.

This is a snakeskin jacket! And for me it's a symbol of my individuality, and my belief... in personal freedom.

Oooh, I love Drive. But be prepared: perhaps not all of your friends will enjoy it initially. It really depends on what they're expecting going into it. But I'm sure a quick summary of it can't hurt it any more than the ridiculous trailers for the movie lol.

I will be honest. I have only seen Man of Steel film of Superman all the way through. Saw it at the cinema, too. I have seen bits of the others but never all the way through
But I am the same with the Spider-man. The new film just did not do it for me. I have the originals in my mind, and 'The Amazing Spider-man' was just not the same.

I will be going to the movie theater to watch The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. I don't really know what I am expecting. I watched the first one, and all of the Lord of the Rings, but I never particularly loved any of the movies. I liked 'em, and to be fair, I saw the original trilogy mostly when I was young. Except for the first movie, which I have seen a billion times because I think, "Hey, I need to watch this series again."

Then, I watch it, and forget to watch the others and the cycle restarts.

I'll be watching it with my girlfriend, one of her female friends, and two of my close friends, should be fun.
