Well, it looks like Linda did survive the attack. There was another sequel titled Cheerleader Massacre (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328945/), in which Brinke Stevens returns as Linda.

She does play a character named Linda, and they do show footage from the original movie, but, the killer is apparently someone else and not the same killer from the first movie (he's surely dead, anyway -- machete through the chest, missing hand, slashed across the stomach). And apparently on the commentary, the director said Linda in the original is dead. I think they just threw Brinke Stevens in the movie and called her Linda and put footage from the first movie into this movie... to go with their storyline for Cheerleader Massacre.

I say either what happened to Linda is still a mystery, or she's dead. But I don't think I'd consider the Linda in Cheerleader Massacre to be the same Linda, even though it's the same actress and footage from the first movie.

I ignore it. To me, the original film stands on its own. Slumber Party Massacre II is a good fantasy, what-if kind of sequel. The original movie doesn't need a sequel at all, but SPM 2 is entertaining and ridiculous and follows the first movie, which I like. It's kinda like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 in that way. Continues with the characters, but goes bonkers. Part III is a totally different scenario called Slumber Party Massacre III because there's a guy with a drill.
