Yes there wasn't much of a chance, plus, loads of people get 'considered' for roles. It's also worth remembering just how much more famous Winona was than Drew. I know she was (slightly) bigger in the US, but over here no one really knew who she was unless you said the ET girl. That, or they remembered her from her drink/drug/mother problems. It was until the late 90's that people over here, that I talked to, really knew who Drew was when I mentioned her.

Well, I can remember reading that Drew Barrymore was the star of Scream before it even came out (revealing to us that she actually WASN'T the star of Scream) and I remember thinking that was a big deal, that it wasn't just going to be some small little horror film. So she must have been much bigger over here.

It surprises me that Drew Barrymore really isn't that old. I mean, I remember thinking in the '90s that Drew Barrymore was really old to be playing a teenager in Scream, but she actually wasn't. Drew Barrymore is 39 years old right now. That means Drew and I are both in our 30's. That is really weird to me. She feels like she should be much older. Granted, in a year, she'll be 40, but right now, Drew and I can both say we're in our 30's and that's strange to me.
