FREEZING!
Problem with the gas supply so currently have none. No heating, nothing, nada, zippo.
Its bloomin' cold out, colder inside and I'm FREEZING. Chilled to the bone.

Not trying to be funny. I'm just really depressed. I am really in love with a girl from my work, we started going out, it's gotten really intense, but its like so doomed. She can't tell her friends or family 'cause they wouldn't be cool with it (we have a sizeable age difference) and we can't ever find the time to see each other EVER. I'm starting to crack, only I can't tell her that 'cause it's not fair to expect her to blow off all the things she has to do for me. but I'm so depressed 'cause I love her so much, and I need to be with her but I can't. everyday just hurts more and more.

It's not an issue with us, its with everyone else. I just want to see her more than maybe twice a month and that can't ever seem to happen. I'm going crazy.

Ten years isn't so bad. My parents are 10 years apart and as long as both of you are of age their shouldn't be a major problem. Even if the relationship isn't working out right now I think if you're both truly serious about each other then you'll find a way to make it work. I've been there so I know how it feels.

i know how she feels but if you hang in there it will work out ok people will see that you are a great couple and the age won't matter.
I am 8 yrs older than my man and we have been together 17yrs, married 13.
My best friend is also 8yrs older than her man and they have been together 20yrs this month.
In May i went to a Wedding, or should i say a surprise wedding as they invited people over for a dinner party and they got married. they have been together 20yrs and she is 11yrs older than him, they are a great couple.
The thing that i have found interesting is that over the years the gap in age is not noticeable at all, now if you see these couples they look very similar in age, and in the case of my best friend she looks younger than her man.
Don't be desperate because love can conquer all, even the times away from each other, there is no need to rush, just enjoy the times you have together.

I just wanna thank everyone for their outpouring of concern for me, epecially Sexy Celebrity, who helped me put a lot of this in perspective.
I had a talk with her today, which is what I shoulda done in the first f*cking place, and I do feel better about it. Yeah, there are gonna be times where I'm gonna miss the hell out of her, but the times together make up for that. I am just in constant shock over how much I love her, I've never really been in love before, and it's quite an overwhelming experience. I'm sure some of ya'll can relate. I am going to do my best to make this work, and eventually, I think, people will learn to accept it. My friends already have, because they can see in my eyes how serious I am.
SC, Project Mayhem, Nebbit, your positive rep points are so on the way. :D

Like...is it called Th Andy Glick show? Its a chacter that Martin Short plays. i saw it a few times in the US on the Comedy Channel. d love to see more of that show. :yup:

Right now, I am freaking right the f*ck out!!!!I am going to Amy's for dinner on wednesday, but what if her parents hate me? I am older than their daughter by ten years, and I can't really explain in rational terms why I love her, I just do! (I mean we have all the same interests, we have these great conversations, she makes me feel like everything is brilliant, like the world is a beautiful place and I am lucky to be alive, but how can I possibly explain that to people who are predisposed to not like me based solely on my age?) What am I gonna do?!? :eek: :eek:
Stay calm. Be yourself (well, be the calmest, least raging, version of yourself ;)), and they'll see why you're suited. Chill :)
Incidently, what i'm doing is: listening to a Senagalese group called Mamad y Keita, reading about Mofo's bedstands, and not freelance-working-efficiently like i should be :rolleyes:
EDIT: erm, i wouldn't quite do what Hondo suggests. I think you may have to play the long-game, and blag a little. Just give 'em the impression you can be a good influence on their daughter and help her grow in good (money earning :rolleyes: ) directions. That'd probably help with most parents of teenagers i reckon ;))

Monkey, If they hate you then they hate you, all you can do is try your hardest to be yourself, tell them that you care about her and that you love her, There a married couple so they are probley inlove themself, So they know how it feels and if at the end of the night they [Still] hate you and [still] treat you like S*it then, tell them whats what, Be honest but not rude. F*ck she's a adult and they should at least treat her like one (if she acts like one).
...... I think thats what you should do, Or at least what i would do.
Edit: Glog, She's not a teenager. and how can she learn any responsabilty if she is never given any and told what to do her whole life.

Thanks for the advice Y'all. I have no idea if they hate me or not yet, but I am just gonna assume they do untill I know otherwise. Her mom was like "These things happen" when she found out that Amy liked me and that I liked her, but her dad was like NO WAY IN HELL would I be allowed in their house and he's never met me, but I'm going there next wednesday so I suppose that this is a step forward. I am just going to be myself. I have already scored points with her mother because I don't drink (anymore...I am not going to tell them I was afraid I was becoming an alcoholic and that was why I quit. :eek:) and I hope that I can at least win her mom over. That seems like the most likely of the two. (At first I was going to pretend I was a devout Christian so that they would think i was a "Good Influence," but that would be way underhanded and wrong.)
Hey, there should be a MoFo Advice Thread so MoFo's with problems can get help from people here....I like this idea very much and I am gonna start it....

Anyway, I don't know her parents, and have only a passing knowledge of the situation, but I've got a great track record in these sorts of situations, and since you're soliciting any and all advice, I'll offer mine: avoid cliches like the plague. Saying things like "age doesn't matter," in my mind, might backfire. If I were her father in such a situation, and a man adopted a "love conquers all" mentality so early in the relationship, I'd be more (not less) wary of him. Especially given the age difference.
If I were in your shoes, my goal would be to project a calm, respectful sort of affection, rather than a head-over-heels, I-don't-care-what-anyone-thinks-we're-meant-to-be attitude. You want them to come away with the impression that your feelings are objective, mature, and level-headed, and that the fact that you're older is nothing more than an unfortunate coincidence. In my opinion, at least.

But right now, I am not going to speak of this anymore, and I am going to instead offer my love and support to Amy while she is preparing for her play this weekend.
