Right now I am confused about some of my stats at work. I am in 2nd place in a pool of about 400 - performance wise. I know I should be first looking at the math. My problem is: how the hell am I even above the halfway mark? Lord, if I can do this well giving 50% I have no idea how well I would go if I gave 50+1 ;).

We had in interesting phenomenon yesterday - horizontal snow showers.

Now, before the X Files music starts playing in your heads let me offer an explanation - we also had wind which would cut you in two. It's been a long time since I've seen snow plastered 30 feet up the sides of buildings and on telephone poles. ;)

Still, the electric (though flickering all night) didn't completely go off unlike 1000s of people in the Antrim Glens who are still snowed in and without power and telephones. My uncle has around 200 newborn spring lambs which would have been in trouble last night so hope there weren't many casualties.

There was a good 6 inches of snow on the car this morning and, to show how hard the wind was blowing, it had completely covered (vertically) a little wall round the side of the house which is normally well sheltered. It was hard even to tell which was the black wheelie bin and which was the blue one. :D

All gone now though, but I hope to god it doesn't come back tonight as I'm heading out and knowing me, I'll forget/not bother to take my coat. Or put flat-soled shoes on and not my DMs...

They're fine, I think. Not spoken to him directly but my mum (his brother) has and the weather wasn't quite as bad where he lives.

It seems to have settled down now, apart from an awful sky-darkening storm just after I posted last where we had horizontal hailstones instead of snow. I didn't really mind that because I've been meaning to get the patio sand-blasted for a couple of years now. ;)

sitting in a friend's apartment waiting on kevin to get back from his first session of pt. the surgery was a success but now he is all kinds of pain. the doctor found a quarter sized calcium deposit behind his knee and that was removed. then he had some bone removed and finally, he had a ligment removed and then replaced with a donation from a dead person. every other move he makes, kevin is in pain. thankfully, he has good pain pills.

as for me, i am ok. just when i leave, i hope he can handle being alone and in pain... also to do his compression kit too. his healing is all up to him. i hate to leave him but i have a job to do and get more ready for the baby. its gonna be a short time and then he is home for good. jules has been more active than before. she already has kevin wrapped around her little fingers. i am going to start to read to her and record his voice so she doesnt miss him that much.

So my wife went into the shop to get them as we paid over £100 for these prints and the assistant said Oh they didnt save to the system, OMG I couldnt believe it we deleted the card for my sons birthday and we havent got all of the pics from the camera on our laptop. Apart from the rage that was flying through me there was disbelief at the incompetance. But luckerly they have been able to use a recover from the memory card and they have recovered 1,200 + photographs from the card so they will be hopefully sorting it out for us and possibly giving a parshal refund.

I'm pretty sure GAME or somewhere like that is selling them for £39.99 (and not the full 60 quid retail price) which is the cost of a full price game. I got mine in Asda last year for something similar but would never have paid full price.

If you've got a spare wireless router laying around (and I've got about 4, all from various old ISPs :D) you might be able to turn it into a wireless bridge. Personally, I've never been clever enough to figure it out but there are quite a few tutorials on the net. ;)

I'm getting slightly depressed about politics. My constituency (Fermanagh & South Tyrone) is gonna degenerate into a sectarian head count because of a few strokes of the pen from Robinson, Empey and the latter's handlers up in the Big House in Westminster.

Never.
Trust.
A Tory.

Never.

I agree! This is a disgrace! Word on the street is they're trying to do it around Belfast as well.

It feels like no matter who you vote for, cheaters will always win and if anyone complains then your obviously sectarian and therefore should be kneecapped before any filthy words against the 'otherside' should pass your lips again.

Man, I hate here, our politians are too sensitive and believe in out dated ideals.

This is not a real democracy- this is a joke.

Im having a nice coffee and some buttery toast while my daughter watchers Waybuloo and eats her toast :)

My wife and lil sis are putting my sons trampoline up in the garden and we are contemplating getting wood chippings for the rest of the garden that wont have a patio on it.

Also im very pi$$ed off with the guy who I bought headphones for the 360 from I emailed him yesterday to see where the hell they are and he got back to me saying he is out of stock and is getting more in on wednesday thats 9 days after I bought and paid for them, so ive told him I want a refund and im going to buy them from over asda when I go over later. I feel a neg coming on

Tacitus
04-20-10, 08:23 AM
You might have been lucky with those headphones mate. I bought a pair that look suspiciously like the ones you ordered last year and, to be honest, they're crap and in the bin. You can't hear anything from the TV, unlike a standard earpiece, so you're best getting a refund if they're dicking you about.

The £9.99 ones in Argos seem fine but I ended up getting a wireless M$ one in Asda for about £30 and it's excellent. ;)

n3wt
04-20-10, 09:00 AM
Were off to asda soon after my daughters jabs :( and I'll see what we can pick up :yup: Im so annoyed with this person who was selling them, he/she didnt get in touch to even say they were having a problem with stock or they sold more than they thought. If they had got in touch and explained and/or offered maybe a slight refund for the trouble then there would of been no problem tbh but they did nothing untill I waited a week and then emailed them. Fairplay they have very good feedback but they have treated me terribly, they can sod off I am getting a refund.

Tacitus
04-20-10, 09:16 AM
Hmmm, I can remember something similar on eBay a few years ago where the thing I ordered was suddenly 'out of stock' and the guy only agreed to an immediate refund if I gave him positive rep. I didn't want to go through the whole Paypal disputes thing so I agreed and left him the blandest positive feedback possible.

Sure enough he refunded me but I was always suspicious that this was the way he got so much positive rep. ;)

Other than that I've been pretty lucky on eBay. Two mint PS1s for a tenner, for example. :D

How are you finding it? I got back on the horse a few days ago and, after mucho grinding, managed to get back on track in the main story with everyone's summons completed.

It's pretty good. It's fairly simple thus far, though it's a little repetitive. Every level (I'm on Chapter 6) seems like the one before; you fight enemies, then do something to open up a door, then fight a boss and ad infinitum.

I'm not sure if it changes course, which would be nice, but it's fun and I keep going back, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining. The battle system is one of the main reasons I keep going back (it's a lot of fun, to me), and the graphics are pretty unbelievable.

Tacitus
04-20-10, 01:16 PM
I've put in over 30 hours and am well up in the teens in terms of chapters and it doesn't change, really. ;)

I guess it's best not to go into a JRPG with the expectations of a Western/PC RPG but I think I've got fed up of the whole genre. It's the best game of its type in this gen, I'm pretty sure about that, but give me something by Bioware or Bethesda any day. :)

n3wt
04-20-10, 02:02 PM
Taci I bought a very similar if not the same headset as the one I bought of eBay and it is finally up and running so me and my son are well happy. He is on Halo 3 as I type this playing with his uncle chatting away haha

Im really looking forward to getting in some MW2 with my mates using the headset at last :D

Justin

Well, that's disappointing. Nevertheless, I still plan on playing through it, just because it's a Final Fantasy game. I will say that the summoning technique is pretty fun, as well as the Crystarium function.

I'm not fed up, yet, anyway. I plan on trying Star Ocean: The Last Hope International - I've heard some decent things (but I have yet to purchase it). The cutesy voices and music are a little irritating, as well as the strangely out of place jazz music.

The tough part is finding a PS3 game I can afford at the moment; most of them are at least $60. I may purchase Arkham Asylum at some point in the future, though. Do you have any recommendations (preferably ones that are used and been out for awhile)? Any genre, it doesn't matter. I've beaten Fallout 3, Resident Evil, Metal Gear and Dead Space, though. They've been out for awhile and are relatively cheap, but it would be a little pointless.

Tacitus
04-20-10, 03:24 PM
To be honest, Star Ocean 4 would not be one of my recommendations. Like FFXIII the combat mechanic is excellent but the story and characters are just so dull and hackneyed. There's a character in your party who makes Yanille in FFXIII seem as gruff as Clint Eastwood gargling razorblades. You've been warned! :D

If you like your JRPGs I'd recommend Eternal Sonata - It might look a bit cutesy but it's got real heart. ;)

There are some cracking titles out on Platinum right now (which is a maximum of £20 over here but usually closer to £10 if you shop around) and I picked up Midnight Club: LA a few weeks ago. If you like old-style Need For Speed street racing it's excellent. Dragon Age Origins is also dirt cheap and I love it to bits.

inFamous is also on Platinum and I'd say it's a must-own for the PS3.

The PSN download games are usually good value and I'd highly recommend Flower (the only game to truly harness the Sixaxis motion sensor), Wipeout HD, Zen Pinball, High Velocity Bowling (another good motion sensor game), Shatter and any of the Pixeljunk games.

Justin
04-20-10, 03:32 PM
Ouch -- more cutesy than Yanille? That would be painful to the ears. Eternal Sonata....I've heard vaguely of it. I'm sure I've seen it several times at Gamestop, but I only glanced at it.

I thought about Dragon Age Origins, which certainly seems like a viable option. inFamous looked great, as well.

Thanks for the recommendations (and warning).

i wanted to say a huge thank you for the ones who participated in my theme week. surprised no one picked SLingBlade!!!

I thought about Sling Blade earlier but then forgot to add it on the list... it would have made a cool avatar too...

Right now I'm thinking about working on my DVD list again...

Cleaning up around the house and organizing things. Really starting to settle in; there are only a handful of the obligatory piles-of-stuff-laying-around-from-the-move now.

Just checking online for a bit and then off to bed, maybe finish off Nightwatch (discworld novel) or just listen to some music, there is nothing more relaxing than listening to some Death Metal to drift off to sleep with :D:D

Feeling sad for Blair Peach's family (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8645485.stm). I hope they can feel some comfort today after their 30 years of campaigning. Police being sorry for the fact that they can't get to the bottom of what happened in 1979, well it might've been a bit easier if they'd looked harder at the time.

I got my polling card this morning (and have managed to actually read and digest where the polling station is this time as opposed to the Euro elections last year when I assumed it was somewhere else entirely ) and it's depressing me as much as Gordo's massive own goal (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8649800.stm) did yesterday.

I've got a distant (so distant that she probably doesn't know I exist ) standing in the election and my uncle did many years ago (on the populist 'Save Our Townlands' ticket).

I might give it a go some time for a laugh. How much is a deposit these days? :D

Made a pot of coffee but it spilled out of my finicky coffeemaker onto the countertop. Did a second pot and it spilled all over again. Wife came in and scolded me for being an idiot and not tweaking that coffee pot just right. My plan for this afternoon is to take the coffee pot in the backyard for target practice. I don't like that coffee pot. It must die.
