I've got form in that particular area anyway because I vaguely remember getting a Lego brick stuck up my nose once. Was lucky that it wasn't Duplo, really. ;)

Thank God it wasn't a Sticklebrick.

I'm watching the World Athletics Champs right now and thinking that Jessica Ennis is an extremely lovely young lady. Extremely lovely. :randy:

I completely agree. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but there appears to be something about British Heptathletes:

And then there's my favourite... Denise Lewis.

Don't get me started on Denise! She used to train at the Alexander Stadium which was up the road from where I was living. We'd see her out and about pretty often. She's a stunning girl and seems to be a lovely person too.

I'm glad Denise is on the TV doing the commentating on the athletics but less pleased about Hazel 'Alan Partridge' Irvine. Is Sue Barker on holiday?

To add to your 'sexy British multi-eventer' list, what about Mary Peters?

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b69/greenspagbol/peters.jpg

All I can personally tell you about Dame Mary is that my mum hates her because she barged in and grabbed a hat (or maybe a scarf, not sure now) that mum had her eye on in a department store in Belfast in the 70s. It's strange how something so innocuous can lead to a lifetime's bitterness. ;)

It was a good show, wasn't it? Despite the awful track - If they're gonna hold a race in the middle of a port why didn't they pick Larne? Or Gdansk? :D

Yes it was a good show. TBH, I liked it a lot more than the race which, I ashamedly admit, I tuned out of now and then. Made sure I watched the end though as there was no way I was missing the end of race radio and podium presentation, considering who won. I won't mention it just in case there's someone here who hasn't seen it and wants to. Suffice to say, he's one of my favourite drivers.

Deathly dull, as most of us thought it would be. In fact, I got so bored this afternoon I decided to do something that I'd vowed never to - alphabeticicise...alphabetize......alp... arrange my DVDs in alphabetical order.

I got as far as this:

Which is basically most of the stuff I had packed away and was not already on shelves and there are 6 or 7 piles out of shot. They're still on the floor. :(

Still, I found a rug that I thought I'd thrown out. 3 years ago.

Newt - The only car I ever sold to someone who I only knew online was a Megane like that - shipped it over to England. They're a great little car.

For those of you who don't know, I live next door to a massive great big cathedral.

It has spent the last couple of years being renovated from top to bottom (£3 mil or something), re-opened a couple of days ago and now has bells in its big spike/tower thing which it definitely didn't have, pre-builders.

These bells sound the hour and they also mark time in between. Every 15 minutes.

Maybe I'll get used to this but I'm getting seriously antsy now and thinking about emailing The Pope or Martin McGuinness. Anyone.

No, they called it a Class B license... they said to obtain one, I'd have to jump about 49 more times... and learn to come within so many feet of the target... and learn to do some free fall stuff...

Oh wait... unless you mean certified as in crazy... :p

honeykid
09-01-09, 12:33 AM
Exactly. You'll see that it's a "Class B" license, that's because you have to "B" certified to do it. You said that you'd have to do another 49 jumps to get it and I think that's because, after all those jumps, they can get you legally certified without need for a family member or doctor to sign the papers. If someone does question it, they just say "she jumped out of a perfectly good aeroplane for fun." and, if they say something like "Well, maybe it was a one time thing, she might be fine now." They can go "No, she did it 50 TIMES!"

The person then understands that you're nuts and allows them about their business without any more hassle. :p

I like your avatar though. :)

Obviously.

It'd look crap in the hall and I might frighten people if I put it outside the living room window (the only other place I have room).

Unfortunately, if it goes in the bathroom I'll probably have to rip the bath out because I don't have space for both...

The solution to all this nonsense is to move somewhere larger but I really can't be arsed, what with 2 properties being sold in the previous 12 months in my immediate vicinity.

I honestly don't think it would fit. A square shower cubicle sitting beside a mini-bath maybe but I'm 6' 2" which kinda rules out one of those pygmy tubs. A shower attachment on the bath is also not gonna fly - got one already and I want (and increasingly need) a walk-in jobbie. ;)

I must take some pics of the newly renovated Cathedral next door to me - I'm not a religious man but it does look truly stunning and probably even worth the £3 million of the parishioners hard-earned cash that it took to rebuild it.

The flipside is that these parishioners now want to get their money's worth from the Big Fella upstairs and every Mass is packed, meaning there's no parking spaces for a good half mile around the church and, thus, Tatty Towers. OK for me because I can park in my drive but a bit of a bugger for anyone wanting to drop in during prayer time.

The bells in that big prong thing on the Cathedral now seem to peel when they want to - never at any special time. Weird...

Left work early today because I was quite a bit pissed. I had applied for an internal promotion and did not get it. That is cool, if others are more qualified I can accept that, but I was told that the reason behind me not getting the position was because of "a", when "a" is one of the things I have been adamantly and publically fighting for. I am confused and quite a bit angry today. I think they see me as a sore loser now, which I guess I am, but I have proof that they are wrong. Just trying to decide if I should just suck it up or fight it. Lord it sucks having to climb the ladder again when one does not have the tenure to speak up respectfully.

I think Sarah Silverman is a funny writer but I think her delivery falls flat.

I have heard her bits described and found them funny and then when I see her perform them I just shrug.

I think she is well-liked as a performer because she is cute.

Oh yeah, I am getting ready to brush my teeth. I had eggs for breakfast/lunch whatever you want to call it. Nasty after taste. Bleech!:p

What's that you say? Too much information?
