Thinking about how much growing up I have to do, but how wonderful it is to be doing it. I feel like I am at a place right now where I am learning so much. I mean, I used to think I knew what I was talking about and what I believed, but recently I have realized that I really have no clue and even more amazing I actually am starting to figure out whta I do know and what I believe in. It's such an interesting process, all this reading and discovering.

I'm curious...did her parents give her an age of when she could start dating? Just wondering why her mom would go 'nuclear'.
Personally, I'm planning on ball and chaining my daughter to me until she's 30. :D

Probably the best way to insure her mom flips out is to keep it a secret. If that's a goal, you guys are on the right track. ;)

Johnny O, I hate to sound like a prude but I think honesty is the best policy. You want her family to think of you as a nice guy, not a sneak. Being up front is probably the best way to handle this. Just remember whatever happens, we love you.

Well, she said her mom wouldn't like her, a freshmen, dating me, a junior, but, we're only one year apart in age. Another thing, I have a feeling that if I push the issue anymore then I did yesterday it might not be purty. I'll have to give it a week before bringing it up. Any advice as to how I should go about with that? Thanks!

When I saw MP the first thing that came to mind was Mary Poopins. Did I say Poop? I meant Poppins.
Anywho, MonkeyMan, fighting with your parents, even if you're right, is like wiping your bum with soggy toilet paper. It's no fun and it doesn't even really do anything, unless you just get a globs and globs of it and use it like a mop or something then I guess that would work, but what I'm sayin' is that maybe you should try playing with his communicative (that hurt) skills and approach him like a ninja so that you say what you want to say without letting it lead to a argument. It's all about TACT my man. It's all about TACT.
"It's not what you say but how you say it." - Some movie with the girl from From Dusk Till Dawn where she's pregnant with some rich dudes baby and she's supposed to give it to the rich dude and his wife. Bad movie, good quote. It's Way Of The Gun, IMDB was movin' a bit slow.

Hey gummo. I don't plan on using the cell phone while driving. Besides here in Virginia they are looking to pass a law that makes it illegal for teenagers to use it while driving. Ok, now get this. Teenagers are the only ones that can't do this. It's the #1 most stupid law I've heard of. It needs to be everyone not just teenagers.
Anyways, I need to be more worried about checking both ways before pulling out. Lol. I almost got hit last night. I thought I messed my boxers for a second there when it happened. Totally my fault and I'm going to be paranoid for a while because of it. :)

I feel overwhelmed by all the bad things happening in my life right now, and all people offer me is criticism when I talk about it.
Hey Monkeyman, I feel for you. There was a time not too long ago that every time I turned around, something else was going majorly wrong in my life. I am a firm believer in "That which does not kill you makes you stronger." I just kept slogging through and things turned around. They always do. And you could always try talking to one of us.

From bitter experience - and I'm talking windows getting broken every few weeks, a police surveillance camera in our bedroom window pointing at the street and selling up 10 months later at a big loss (then moving to a smaller house in a nicer area) - nice area every time.
You can decorate a house but...well y'know. ;)

Reading an article over at the National Review called 'Smart Sex'. I'd venture that some people here might question the word 'smart' and National Review in the same sentence, but. . .
Anyways, it's really interesting. It's actually an interview with the author of the book by the same name. It's all about how as human beings we aren't biologically engineered to "hook-up". The author applies economic theory to modern day sexual behavior and dissapointments:
"I think the key is that everyone wants to matter, especially to their sex partners. We have created a world in which we treat sex as a private recreational activity, with no moral or social significance. But when sex is a recreational activity, my partner becomes a consumer good. And we all know what we do with consumer goods that cease to satisfy: We get rid of them. In this world of consumer sex, it is socially acceptable to use other people. But no one really wants to be used. I think that is the ultimate source of our disappointments with the modern consumer-sex approach."
There was a lot more to it, but very interesting. BTW-- the book is called Smart Sex: Find Life-Long Love in a Hook-up World by Jennifer Roback. The title sounds a bit self-helpish, but I am thinking it's more self-help for society.

I am listening to a great song by Switchfoot that reiterates the above:
Sex is currency
She sells cars,
She sells magazines
Addictive bittersweet, clap your hands,
With the hopeless nicotines
Everyone's a lost romantic,
Since our love became a kissing show
Everyone's a cassanova,
Come and pass me the mistletoe
Everyone's been scared to death of dying here alone
She, is easier to love
It's easier to lie
It's easier to fake and smile and brag
It's easier leave
It's easier to lie
It's harder to face ourselves at night
Feeling alone,
What have we done?
What is the monster we've become?
Where is my soul?
Sex is industry,
The CEO, of corporate policy
Skin-deep ministry,
Suburban youth, hail your so-called liberty
Every advertising antic,
I've been a ways with a neon glow
War and love become pedantic,
We wage love with a mistletoe
Everyone's been scared to death of dying here alone
She, is easier to love
It's easier to lie
It's easier to fake and smile and brag
It's easier leave
It's easier to lie
It's harder to face ourselves at night
Feeling alone,
What have we done?
What is the monster we've become?
Where is my soul?
I think this is starting to become an interest of mine. . .

Throwing Muses
Delicate Cutters
It's just the lack
Of time I keep
Reaching out, lashing out
It's just the lines
Run down the walls
I can't believe they never fall
The walls never leave
And the walls begin to scream
Ahhh
And my toes against the wall
I stare ahead
The door inside the wall
Your face inside the door
You crawl across the room
The picture never moves
My books are very still
You slide to my feet
You slide across the floor
I
Throw your head across the ice
I
Throw my head through a window
Crash
Like poetry
It's four o'clock, I'm waiting
Your face appears
I keep forgetting your name
While I'm writing this, you
You crash through the wall
You fall off the floor
I
Slide your head across the ice
I
Throw my hands through the window
Crash
Like gods
A room
Full of delicate cutters
All sitting down, the room has many doors
All but one of them are closed
She goes around
(Remember)
Opening the doors
This has another ending
Full of innocent children
One of them are closed
She goes around
This has another ending
(Remember the room)
Full of delicate cutters
Opening the doors

Yeah, no one believes me when i say i am, but i can't meet new people at all really, i'll be shy when i talk to them then get nervous so i finish talking and run away lol.
ahh...that sounds very much like me, although it actually shows in my private life, i have virtually zero guy friends and one female friend, goes to show you just how much i'm not good with making new friends.....
and my advice as far as girls are concerned ( and this coming from a person much like you ).....get piss drunk.....:)....it helps....loosens you up.....;)

Throwing up on them usually works.
Or maybe that's the reason I'm still single...
Actually, speaking of nights out, does anyone know the best way to ease neck ache? All that head banging on Saturday and it's still sore :(
I swear I'll be putting my chiropractors children through college in future.

Feeling it like I speak it…
Pouring out the twisted freak show in my head that makes everyday seem like I'm scared to die to the half dead with my learning lesson teeth falling out. I love to despise and dispose to expose my ugly smile...and that's nothing but personal sexual stimulation before my last breath.

Doing laundry... planning some jewelry I need to make... playing with my new scanner... reading about degenerative disc disease... and wondering what to make for dinner, since I'm home and have time for domesticity.

I'm switching between this forum and Armchair General where I'm fighting with the rabid Right-wingers about terrorism. They're so fun to tease. They have no humor...
Ain't seen it but scary thing is, McConnell is my last name :s
That is funny how your name is like his. You should check it out, seriously. That scene alone is meant to be watched. :p
