No injuries fortunately - Link (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-10848505)

I honestly think it'll take a generation to get rid of stuff like this completely, maybe longer, provided we've still got a reasonably stable system of government. If the deluded dinosaurs manage to get lucky enough to pull off another Omagh, though, I dunno what would happen.

As a people I think we're more mature but all it takes is one guy and a lot of wounds are re-opened...

Chasingbutterfly - We had our house badly damaged by a Provo mortar bomb about 20 years ago, and the army base they were aiming for was over a mile away. I've still got a foot long bit of shrapnel somewhere. Found it sticking in the lawn like a javelin.

The worst thing was meeting the guys you knew did it on the street. They'd still smile and say hello but we were just collateral damage to them.

:( This really makes me sick.

These people were and continue to commit violent deeds using their republican/loyalist cause as an excuse to kill and I really don't think they can even bare to think that no one wants them anymore. It's safe to say though, that these people are running around with the bare minimum of brain cells.

Hopefully these dinsosuars will die out pretty soon though; their growing to become more of an inconvience than anything else these days. And now people are going on that they're going to try and take the City of Culture title away from us. I doubt they would but ragin' if it did happen :(

I just want to get a banner and hang it across the walls and simply have it read;

"THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS."

100% couldn't agree more with what Tacitus and Chasing Butterfly have said.
----
On the other hand, I doubt the people that are behind these attacks are actually motivated by revenge or any sort of hangover from the troubles even if they themselves claim this. The tragedy is that as-long as the press are claiming this, like you guys said, certain wounds can be reopened. Even I notice it with my parents who lost family during the troubles. They live and work in a mixed community, there not bitter, I was never raised to give a **** about such concepts, but when things like this happens certain people retract slightly, It'l take a generation before nobody feels directly involved.

The little guy below has been in about every paper in the Uk for a 5 day rotation as a result of the Ardoyne riots around the mid July period (12th). These guys look no older than young 20s and people are trying pin there acts on sectarianism and concepts and history these little thugs have NO understanding of.

Its all rubbish, there just little ***** who weren't raised properly. Where are the parents at?

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01087/SNF1722B-682_1087268a.jpg

If we got united Ireland tomorrow, do you think that little guys front and center would put down his rock and go get a full time job? Of course he wouldn't, hel just find something else to riot over. Its like the Joker from the Dark Knight, we pin the motivation based on the visible variables, the truth is, certain individuals in the world just like violence, conflict and destruction.

Both sides are as bad as each other.

ChasingButterfly

I totally agree. man!

I remember years ago, my wee cousin was being shown Bloody Sunday footage and videos of the army and the Republicans fighting by his, frankly idiotic, dad and now he's only 15 and he has these great ideas about republicanism and hating the police. The other day he was just lifted by the PSNI for throwing stones at them. He's a really good kid but it was his dad instigating a hate of the loyalists and police is going to completly destroy his character. His dad wasn't even born around the time of Bloody Sunday or the Battle of the Bogside.

That's why I think if we try and come to a point where we have a generation of people who don't try and force any of this sectarian nonsense on children, we'll finally be out of the Troubles once and for all. I know it's hard but everyone has to move on.

I always find that some people as well, who don't live in mixed areas have a very blurred perception of the otherside. I live on one of those places that's lodged between the Republicans and the Loyalists and I don't feel that there's any real difference between us but my cousins from republican areas are terrified of even just Prodestants.

When my wee cousin, who was shown all the videos and stuff was introduced to my boyfriend he thought he was a nice guy but when he found out later that he was a Prodestant, he was confused that he was so nice and not a vicious monster out to get him! He really couldn't get over it! I know he's young but I think a lot of parents are to blame for providing a lot of misguided informatation and not explaining to their children that there's no need to fight anymore.

100% agreed once again.

Its funny that you mentioned about sides. I too was raised in a area that is completely lodged between the two sides and people just mingle (I'm actually quite grateful for that), its like somewhere along the line people realise, oh yeah, he's a human being just trying to live his life and achieve happiness and so am I.

Its the cordoned off areas that can cause trouble and brew bias opinions and essentially cause hatred. Nearly 6 years ago now when I was doing a HND, I had to go to NWRC in derry (ironically you can see the entrance to the college in the article Tacitus posted rite beside that charcoled mess of car) and the opinions in such a refined catholic environment were quit extreme and like you mentioned, many of these people admitted to not know a single protestant and or being surprised with the mentality of the few they did know.

Yeah, the young guys throwing rocks at police are the same sort of chav/spide that can be seen in Manchester, Glasgow etc on a daily basis but the difference in them is that the other yobs don't have shadowy older men in the background winding them up with romantic tales of 'the struggle'.

These guys need to die out, as well as the politicians who's very jobs depend on keeping the division in the community. Unionist and Nationalist MPs/MLAs alike...

Well, it has to be true to itself. Of course, it does appear to be schizophrenic... Well, either that you're not sure whether you own a cat or a pig and, if that's the case, I think you may've spent too long in contact with those chemicals or the oil itself. Either way, I think you should be able to tell by the weight of its litter tray. :D

Negative rep for stating the obvious?

Aaaanyway. Got a new router yesterday after the old one heard me saying "wireless N" and gave me the metaphorical finger, expiring soon after. Netgear have always done well by me in the past so I plumped for one of them.

Performance-wise it's squeezing an extra chunk of speed out of the 20MB line compared to the old one but, boy, does it get hot. You could fry yer auntie on it.
