I preordered the new alexander cut http://alexanderthemovie.warnerbros.com (looks like a nice improvement over the original, though I still quite liked it when I first saw it) Its cool that they're giving free 300 passes with the DVD. Def want to check that one out as well.

I was unable to find this pair at any local DVD retailer and ended up just having to order them online, which is something I usually avoid doing. Days of Heaven and Badlands are well worth the trouble though. Two of the best movies to come out of the seventies, in my opinion.

David Lynch's Dumbland
A new music/movie store opened downstairs of my apartment, where they specialize in all the unknown bands and movies....I can't believe it myself!!!! Anyway, I went in there for a little bit yesterday to introduce myself and told the owner I live upstairs and he'll be seeing me on a regular basis since music and movies are a huge part of my life....I checked out his music. I found Volcano The Bear....Holy ****!!!!! I've been looking for almost a year for this album!! I also found The Residents on vinyl, yippppeeee! I bought those right away. Then I checked out the movie section. And good lord, they had Dumbland on DVD. I nearly **** my track pants. They also had other stuff I wanted to buy but I have to wait til I can afford it. I spent $60 on three things yesterday...which is not bad at all...but when I want to buy the whole store, we have a problem. Man-o-man I was thinking of asking him to hire me for the summer but I would be too distracted by all the awesome stuff to do my job. I would drool all over the albums and people who come in there wouldn't come back if they saw the cashier drooling....

You went to the music section first?!? What in the hell were you thinking?
 I dunno what I was thinking  I guess it was because I have been trying to get this Celine Dion song out of my head and so I wanted some new music to flush it out...I've had this song stuck in my head for a week now and I'm going insane!! Actually just today I got rid of it and now I have a Frank Zappa song stuck there....which is way better than Dion...however the line is, "Why does it hurt when I pee..." so now I'm going nuts with that.

I loved Road Games. Only saw it for the first time this year thought it was great. I liked especially how he talked to himself allot on the road there and making up stories with the folks in the passing cars heheh. Reminds me of Duel to a degree. Please tell me you saw that JBriscoe.
I've actually seen neither of them! so sad, I know...lol...ironically, it was my intention to buy Spielberg's Duel at the same store as Road Games, but it was back to regular price (which was too expensive)...so I'll have to keep an eye on it until it becomes cheap again!
It might be awhile until I get around to watching Road Games, but since you said liked it, I did move it up in the queue!

I've watched Road Games 100 times. You should love it, or atleast like it allot.
I bought the movie Borat. I had not seen before and someone was selling his very cheaply.
I bought it and watched and was very disappointed by it. It was SO stupid. Definitly did not live to my expectations.

Damn, that's too bad. I see it allot for 10 bucks around here. Previously viewed though. It's an awesome flick. I am almost certain you will really enjoy Duel. Allot of suspense and tension throughout the entire film as he's constantly thinking to himself all of these different scenarios or questions about why the dude in the truck is harassing him since he did nothing to instigate it. Everyone looked suspecious to him too heheh.

Oh ok heheh. I can't guarantee you'll enjoy this one as much as I did. With Duel I can, but not so much here. I hope you do. Let us know what you think of it. :)

I just bought "Carl" as in Carl Barron the Aussie comedian. I have to say he is one of the funniest guys around. Nebbit you should know him he used to appear on the footy show and stuff. A lot of his comedy is Aussie based so those who aren't from here might not get it but its still worth a watch.

I enjoyed this one. I saw it in theatre and the actor looks so much like the real Rocket that it's actually scary.
**minor spoiler **
I loved the part where Maurice's brother in law bets against him cause he knew he was moving furniture all day into another appartment so figured he'd be dead for the game and he ends up scoring a sick amount of goals surprising the crap outta him. :p
Maurice is of course pi$$ed once he finds out but it's still one of the lighter moments of that film.

I like that one a lot! Maybe I should put it on my list!
It is a bad film in terms of acting, plot etc. However you can't help but smile when you watch it. Sly Stallone makes a fool out of himself as Machine Gun Joe Viterbo and David Carradine (Bill from Kill Bill) plays an odd character wearing a gimp suit :modest:. Also there is a sub-plot to the race which is mildly interesting.
Also its full of gratuitous tit shots, which is almost a given for a film of this caliber and type.
Also during the race the drivers get points for killing pedestrians. Here is the score table to give you a feel for the film:
Male adult: 20
Male teenager: 40
Male infant/toddler: 70
Female (any age): 10 more than men in any age bracket
Senior citizen (regardless of gender): 100This was Sly Stallone's 9th film. Be kind to him!
8 out of 10 for trying.

36 Hours (1965 - George Seaton) is a solid psychological thriller with an interesting premise. Jim Garner plays an American Intelligence Officer stationed in London as part of the panning for D-Day. He has intimate knowledge of all the plans, and though they realize it's dangerous he makes a regular trip to Portugal just days ahead of the invasion, to keep up appearances that D-Day possibly isn't imminent. The Nazis of course know it is imminent, but don't know the where or when of the landing. They kidnap Garner's Major Jefferson Pike in Lisbon. But rather than try the usual torture and interrogation techniques, they go through an elaborate ruse: Pike wakes up in a hospital where everybody speaks English, including his therapist, played by Rod Taylor. They convince him that although he's only been out for a few hours that it is in fact 1950, the Allies won the war in 1944, and he now suffers from amnesia and has been hospitalized at this special clinic to try and recapture his memory. They hope if he believes it is 1950 that he will casually reel off the details of the invasion that is still days away from actually happening.
Pretty clever, well constructed and well acted, especially by Garner and Taylor. Eva Marie Saint plays a Concentration Camp survivor being forced to help the Nazis with their elaborate subterfuge by romancing Garner. Good piece from the '60s that has gotten lost in the shuffle over the years. This marks its debut on DVD.

The SE of GB&U was released last year, but the others just finally came out now. Yes. I know they were released everywhere else a while ago. I held off getting them until R1, though.

Well, trust R1s are as nice a package as they are in R2. Guess they've put on more features over the time delay...
Just got 'Escape from New York'.

Holden, I estimate that you spent about $147 this week on DVDs, unless there's any others you haven't mentioned. Maybe less (I assume you go to places that sell at a good price).
Oh my god... I spent $26 on a DVD that's $10.99 on Amazon.com

I also got Spiderman 2.1 :

I already had the Spidey 2 DVD when it first came out and I really hate when companies do a special edition with extra stuff but I had to get this one (with 8 mins of extra footage) just for the J. Jonah Jameson scene where he puts on the abandoned Spidey suit and crouches around on his desk pretending to spin webs not realizing his staff are watching.:rotfl:

Why the hell would they cut that scene out. Sounds like the audience really would have enjoyed that scene. I would have anyways.

I bought it because it's freakin awesome. The movie and the DVD. A gas can for a case and a match book for a DVD holder? Come on...that's pretty awesome.
I always get myself in trouble with crap like this. I already own Fight Club and Sin City, but tomorrow I'm going out to get the Fight Club steelbook and the deluxe Sin City DVD. The 30 dollar one.
I don't know why I do these things.

8 minutes of excess and unnecessary footage. Like in Spidey 3 with Parker danciing like a jerk. That should of been cut.

I love Hollywood Video! 4 for $20 and 4 for $30 can't get enough DVD's I always say!
Just picked up:
Natural Born Killers
The Golden Child
Cutthroat Island
Empire of the Wolves
Rumor Has It...
The Libertine
Firewall
the good shepherd
Stranger than Fiction
Stomp The Yard
and Cagney and Lacey the first season
I may have a problem but I can stop anytime I want to... I don't want to.

I don't think it was 8 minutes of JJJ jumping in the suit though. If it was, that I could understand.
And Peter danced like a fool who wasnt cool with that ridiculous bad boy haircut. That's the only reason I hated that scene. If he acutally had a real bad boy image going on there, then that would have been superduper, but he didn't.
That squeaky little voice doesn't help his cause either but I will say that it is slightly possible for him to play a character like that to a degree such as he did with his role in The Good German.

- there's a lot of added little lines and footage at the pizza parlor & when Peter makes his deliveries at the office
- some more lines from Otto and his wife
- more lines from Bruce Campbell
- the main fights Doctor Octopus and Spidey have been increased
- the office footage we saw unfinished in the documentary for the original DVD set of the second movie has now been finished and restored to the running time
- more action shots and moments have been added to the elevated train sequence as well
- we see Peter take over driving the car of the robbers he stops in lieu of going to MJ's play and he removes his mask in costume while driving the car
- the alternate version of Hal Sparks's cameo scene, where he tries to pitch advertising ideas to Spidey
- Vanessa Ferlito as MJ's friend, Louise, is in a store with her questioning her impending marriage to John Jameson
- the police radio that was a prop from the third movie punctuates the moment of Peter sitting alone in his dilapidated apartment
- the extended conversation with Harry/Peter at home works a lot better

Bought Stargate SG-1 - Season 10 DVD as well as Star Trek Fan Collective - Captain's Log.

The final season of SG-1 was a must for me even though the series finale could have been better. I guess they were holding out for the 2 new DVD movies coming in 2008.
The Trek DVD is the 5th one in the series (Borg, Q, Time Travel & Klingons were the previous themes) fans again voted online this time for their all-time favorite captain episodes from all five Star Trek series, but each show’s legendary leader Captain Kirk, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Scott Bakula has also carefully chosen their favorite episode of their own series.

There you go. That would have been friggin' beautiful to see that clip in the actual movie. Not long at all but short, sweet and funny as hell. :D

Figure I might as well do the why: Johnny Depp always has a good performance and it is based off of a short story by Stephen King, on of my favorite authors, and I had seen it already on TV and enjoyed it.

You should have waited dude cause I'm pretty sure we are going to see some kind of super delicious deluxe special 5 disc sweet ass edition coming out before the next Indiana Jones arrives in theatre next year. That's what I'm going to wait for anyways.

I still haven't seen the Director's Cut of Donnie Darko, which is terrible considering it's one of my all-time favorite movies.
It's great!
I splurged this past week. Buying Goodfellas, The Departed, The Aviator, Donnie Darko: Director's Cut, The Usual Suspects and The Illusionist.

Man I think I may have a problem...
The Muppet show season 1 yeah that's right I said The Muppet Show and I still think it's funny. Silly little puppets...
WKRP in Cincinati one of my favorite Sitcoms I'm still waiting for Barney Miller to come out someday but I digress.
Art of the Devil 1&2 from Thailand this is the first film I've seen from Thailand and it looked interesting so I picked it up.
Bones season 1 because you know, it's got Angel in it. LOL
Ichi The Killer by the Japanese David Lynch Takashi Miike IMO. Really enjoyed this film btw.
And last but not least I guess. A guilty pleasure called Take The Lead with Antonio Banderas simply because I'm a sucker for dancing movies.

Todays buys and recievings and why :)
Psycho- I saw this recently and began an instant fan. An utterly compelling and spooky film from the Master of Suspense. Yes, it has the infamous shower scene which I believe is an iconic piece of cinema but for sheer terror check out the last scene.
Raging Bull- I am a huge fan of Scorcese- De Niro collaborations and this film is no exception.
The Wicker Man- A classic cult film showcasing the best of British horror. The ending never fails to send shivers down my spine.

It's been a good month since I bought a movie. In kind of a dry spill at the moment. Taking unusually long for some of them to drop in price for me in the prev. viewed area.
