Yeah I got it for $50 and it's $50 now. I've always been a fan of the show so getting the whole show on Blu ray appealed to me.

I've got all the other films in steelbook form but decided to go with the slipcover edition this time around as I prefer the artwork.
Rented it first as I thought I wouldn't enjoy it, I was wrong.

I ordered Attack the Gas Station! recently. It should arrive today. Why'd I buy it? Uh because it looks entertaining and it's Korean. Those are good reasons, I think.

I bought Visitor Q so I can finally watch it and remove it from my IMDb Watch List and have another film sit atop it for twenty years staring at me waiting to be watched.

Visitor Q was the first Takashi Miike film I saw. Needless to say I've become a fan of him ever since. He truly has a style unmatched by any other director :D
I_Wear_Pants

Miike is certainly unique. The first film of his I saw was Ichi the Killer. It did inspire me to check out more of his work although I don't really want to watch it again.

I don't buy as many discs as I used to, the last two I picked up was during a Kino sale - I bought Breezy because I like Eastwood, and I haven't seen the movie in decades, plus, the commentary track was a draw. I was happy with the purchase.
The other? I just like their silent era sets, gives me a chance to catch some film history grouped by a theme. In this collection I enjoyed Frank Daniels and the domestic comedy of the Drews... wasn't so fond of unfunny Bunny or chaotic Semon.

The last DVD I bought? How could I not? It's THEM!, an early 50's voyage into terror. Giant ants, created by A Bomb tests, eat dusty towns. What can kill them? Nobody has shoes big enough to stomp on them, so, call the army, they'll know what to do.
As these sort of creature features go, this one is a favorite. If you watch to the end of the trailer, the cure for big ants is revealed, probably the one you already thought about.

Longlegs came through the post today unharmed, liked the art design of the steelbook but didn't want to buy one as I don't collect them anymore, but found the same design work on the mediabook release in Germany. So very happy with it, just hope the film is good.

During Kinos winter sale - I ordered High Plains Drifter (Special Edition) and Nostalghia... of the Tarkovsky classic, I'm hearing and hoping this is an improvement on their previous DVD release, which frankly stunk. But this one has the restoration and some bonus material, so, it can't be any worse - crossing fingers it's significantly better.

I was curious because it's the first movie directed by Dev Patel.
It's entertaining to watch but could be much better obviously.
And I often buy DVD's, it's a habit I won't break.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Having seen lots of Dracula movies in my life, a shipboard story, which was implied but not described in Stoker's novel (the ship just floats into port....something awful having happened), makes for a decent back story. The movie was pretty good....nothing great but I liked it.

I'd seen it a couple of times prior to buying it and have only rewatched it once since purchasing (not big into war films), but it's Kubrick and it was in great condition and it was a buck, so....

You can find a solid Sony DVD player these days for $40 on Amazon. The format isn't exactly new these days. Hell, there are 20 years old who when they were born DVD players were yesterday's news. Now for a VHS player, you'll need to look in an antique store.

A film collection that represents the very very best of cinema needs one film that represents the complete opposite, and Samurai Cop is the epitome of bad film-making.
105651
There are lots of bad films to choose from, but this one is probably the most entertainingly bad film. Literally everything they could have done wrong, they did it in Samurai Cop.
It's a trash masterpiece.

I picked up two of Jackie Chan's latest films, "A Legend" and "Panda Plan" from Well Go USA, I bought "An American Werewolf in London" and "Misery" as well as getting the latest Collector's Edition Blu-Rays from Visual Vengeance, the 1984 martial arts oddity "Furious" and the 1996 mindless fun cult film "Dinosaur Valley Girls". I also got the "Magical Edition" DVD of "Xanadu".

I'll buy the DVD when the VHS gets here; the last movie I purchased was Graham Chapman's Odd Job. Technically it's only available on VHS, and our VCR is broken and I don't have the means to repair nor replace it, so I had an idea; get it converted to DVD. I did some digging and inquiring, and found sites that can convert the VHS for me into a DVD that's cheaper than the $150 for a VCR, so I'll do that. Each site I've asked, and I did not assume with any site, and I made sure to email three different ones, said it shouldn't be a copyright issue since it's one transfer for purely private use that I will make $0 off ever, so I should be okay.
Addendum; I ordered the transfer and have the packaging ready for tomorrow when the VHS gets here to send the DVD. I'm so excited. It will take some time for the shipment to get there, then the video to transfer from one medium to the next, and then ship back, which is fine. At least I finally get to watch the film. It sounds hilarious.

I have the package almost ready to ship. It just needs postage paid, except the USPS site was being stupid so I'll need to go to the post office to get it paid, and then, of course, shipped! Hooray!
I've heard mixed things about the movie. I love Graham Chapman's work so I'm giving it a shot. I'm not sure when the DVD will get here once the VHS goes there to be transferred.

Found in a close-out bin, Curse of the Demon, AKA Night of the Demon, a British movie from 1957, a fairly quiet, verbose British "horror" movie, that builds to a good climax. You only actually see the demon for a few seconds and, when you do, you realize that YOU don't want to meet this demon anymore than the poor folks in UK in 1957.

Well, since Shout Factory only released it in a boxset with movies I've either seen, or I don't want to see, I elected just to buy this directed from Eureka as a single.
The extras sound promising, picture has gone through a restoration (though from the trailer, the sound is still muddy - but better that than the crappy English dubs Tubi foists on us)
This is a highly praised Jimmy Wang Yu martial arts spin on the Seven Samurai that I've long wanted to see, so now I can. I've ordered others from Eureka (I have an all-region player) and I've always been happy with their releases.
