I've seen it here (http://www.playusa.com/DVD/Region_1/3-/902675/-/Product.html). Not too keen on the way it's being marketted though.
Wow, that is an idiotic marketing ploy. They've got no confidence in selling it as what it really is, what a joke...

Be interested to know how the two cuts compare.
I just watched the longer cut and I'd have to say ultimately I prefer it. The most distinguishing difference between the two are the endings. I love the ending of the short more (eating her own fetus is the ultimate rock-bottom of the pressures of an increasing demand on societal beauty), but the ending here fits because it is a slower, though it doesn't feel it, build up to it. They both kick equal ass, I think, but just that Chan was still able to sustain that haunting attack on all of your senses for the full 90 minutes makes it the more impressive of the two.
I wrote a review, though it doesn't detail the differences between the two, at my site.

Damnit OG, great write up. Very tempted to order it right now. :(
What is the second ending then?
Tacitus

I haven't seen anything else Fruit Chan has done, but if the only sampling one could get of the three directors was from the anthology, Chan dominates. Dumplings is brutal and disturbing, without ever being as exploitive as it could have been and I can't wait to watch the feature length cut once it arrives in the mail today.
I don't think that Dumplings, in full length form, is that exploitative*. It's just a darned good morality play. One of those films where the sound effects add an awful lot to the atmosphere. ;)
*Of course, maybe my sensibilities have become somewhat skewed...

I don't think that is either... You crazy ol'e foreigner! :p
What is the second ending then?
Mrs. Li's husband actually visits Aunt Mei and begins to have an affair with her, as well as tasting the sweet flesh himself. The hotel girl he had been banging on the side gets pregnant, which Mrs. Li finds out about. She then pays the girl double the amount Mr. Li was paying her to have the baby (which is at that perfect 5 month mark) aborted and watches the whole thing. Her delivery of a lot of the dialogue in that scene is cold as hell and it makes her out to be obsessively crazy. She asks the doctor to keep the fetus alive because she wants a "trophy". The last shot is of her chopping it up...
As you can see it isn't as balls-out as the short's ending, which is a much faster punch to the senses, but it still ties the story together nicely.
Tacitus

I don't think that is either... You crazy ol'e foreigner! :p
I was hammering home the point... You crazy young foreigner! :p
Any film with Ling Bai in a pair of tight pants gets my vote.

The last DVD i bought was 'Four Brothers.' I bought it because it was an amazing movie, and personally, one of the best I've ever seen. They all really do well playing their parts. Garrett Hedlund (The youngest brother Jack.) Is also really awesome at a certain scene near the ending :(

I can see that. Pity, I thought Casshern was pretty unimpressive (except from the visual stand point at times) character and story wise.

Most are Brand New – Factory Sealed, some from other peoples personal collections that have been opened and watched. So far I have yet to recieve a bootleg copy of a dvd. We all know how some people on ebay like to get over on people with fake listings and such. But so far all good.
those up there are just the ones I won that no one went and bid on, I had a bunch of others but I was outbid cause I went to sleep and was not watching the auction.

I've been wanting to see Good Night, and Good Luck ever since it was announced, but I missed it (regrettably) when it was playing in theaters. I finally found The Matrix new for under ten bucks, so I picked it up. The other two were in the bargain bin: two for $11. I bought Trapped in Paradise because my father and I always enjoyed it, and watched it whenever it was on cable; and I picked up The Majestic because I haven't seen it, and because people tell me it falls in the "good Jim Carrey films" category, of which I'm a big fan.
I would have purchased A History of Violence today, as I really meant to see it when it was playing. But I figure I'll give it a rent before I buy it, just in case.

I buy 2 to 3 dvds a week now. Blockbuster charges like 7 bucks to rent. I watch mostly older movies I get for 10 or 15 bucks, so why pay so much to rent? Plus, im in luck. I love those old movies, so those wal-mart 5$ bins are a godsend. Cant pass a good cheap dvd. I have several in my collection that havent even been opened. Just to good to pass. :)
I saw the Suncoast at my local mall was closing too. But since their stuff was 20% higher anyway, knocking 40% wasn't that great of a deal.
I bought "A History Of Violence" yesterday. I've seen it twice already (theater and airplane) and Ed Harris and William Hurt are just great in it.
When are we going to start seeing some summer movie trailers on DVD's? Hopefully "King Kong" will have something good with it.

The Aristocrats! The DVD contains lots of out-takes, and expanded footage of comics telling "the joke". I personally prefer the name "The Debonairs". For me, the humour is created in the way each comic makes the joke their own, and from their manic need to out-do each other.
I picked up "Dreamer". It's not the kind of movie I'd normally watch, but it was playing on a flight I took recently and I ended up watching it. Kurt Russell is always great, but so was everyone else in the movie. Casting Kris Kristofferson as his dad was genius.

Ealing + Alec Guinness = Gold, so £5.99 well spent.
According to the back of the cover -
The most satirical of Ealing's comedies...an enchanting piece of screen comedy and surely a contributer to the Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
One of the less well known Ealings, but pretty darned good with Alec G on top form yet again. I'll give it a proper whirl once the dreaded 100 has reached it's terrifying conclusion. :)

The Man in the White Suit is my favorite of all the Ealing Comedies. Alec Guinness plays a fellow who accidentally invents a fabric that is essentially indestructible as far as wear and tear and dirt, and from there it becomes a satire as different people want to either exploit or supress the discovery.
Ealing + Alec Guinness = Gold, so £5.99 well spent.

The Devil's Rejects:
I already liked the first movie (House of 1000 Corpses) so I thought I'd give the
sequel a try and - hey! - it's actually quite good!
Creep:
Saw it at the cinema and it's a nice little dirty, and sometimes even slightly gory,
and just well done european horror movie.
Der Untergang:
I wanted to see it at the cinema but couldn't find anyone who wanted to go, too.
It's a very good movie about the last few days and hours of Adolf Hitler and the
end of the 3rd Reich. The acting of Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler is just so amazing,
it's almost frightening http://ceno.krankikom.de/goth/goth_eek_ani.gif

To me, Its one of the funniest movies that has come out in a long while. Really? It's a straight to video though right. I know that doesnt always mean anything, just I never noticed it playing in theatres. I'll most likely pick that up eventually.

I actually like The House of 1,000 Corpses better. I barely was able to watch the other because to me it was just a waste. BTW, TDR isn't a sequel...just Rob Zombie's follow up film after 1,000 corpses. :D

No, it played theatrically for about ten days in January, to an opening gross of about $3-million. It limped up to $6-million, then disappeared.

I bought seven of them today:
Raging Bull-- I'm embarrassed I haven't owned it until now (on DVD).
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre-- The original, of course.
The Outlaw Josey Wales-- Sooner or later, I needed to own this.
Creepshow-- Just a FUN movie.
In The Line Of Fire-- A great action/suspense movie.
A Simple Plan-- A great drama/suspense movie.
Pharoah's Army-- A superb little movie no one knows about.
...and unless the end is utter crap, I will enjoy it, so I purchased it.
It is.

Steve Coogan's a comedic genius. I can't wait for Alan Partridge: The Movie.
During the commentary Coogan, Iannucci and Peter Baynam admitted they were floating around some ideas to do with a detective show which Alan pitched to Tony Hayers - the Morse-like detective drama called Swallow.
That'd make it Coogan playing Partridge playing a detective. Interesting... ;)
That was Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell, a song in which Joni complains they 'Paved paradise to put up a parking lot', a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise, something which Joni singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit in with her blinkered view of the world. Nevertheless, nice song. :D

I've been trying to watch Dead on Sky 3 for free - but only managed one Ep so far. The rest of the time the signal's been so weak i just get McShane smeared across screen - leaving me and the TV with nothing to do but swear at eachother periodically.

Your Sky3 is up the spout too then? I bet Sky Sports News and a few others are too - same with me. We need new aerials. ;)
Have you seen Road Games before? What do you think?
Sorry 7th must have missed this earlier. At the time, no I did not see Road Games but I have since watched it. I enjoyed it actually. The director was trying to mimic "Rear Window" but this time on wheels. Loved how he talked to his dog and observed the other cars on the road making little phrases about them. I'm not sure if it's for everyone but it was for me. ;)

Bought the Criterion edition of Au Hasard Balthazar, even though I'm not a huge Bresson fan. It was mainly just to see what the fuss is all about because I kept seeing it in people's top 10s. Plus, the main character is a donkey, so maybe it wouldn't have the typically Bressonian stiff acting as much as his other films.
Well beware then, I've heard its a 'model' donkey - very stoic and reserved ;)
(Give us a write up when you've seen it tho :) - been meaning to get round to it, and Mouchette, myself :yup: )
