Yeah, the frame is in great shape, too. And the person I bought it from replaced the alternator, starter, radiator, manifold seal, rebuilt the rear end, replaced the headliner and bench seat. It might as well be a new truck.

Wow, I thought it was.If I was only that lucky. New trucks are insanely priced. I would never buy a truly new truck unless it was electric. Hoping that in the next 5-10 years someone will make an affordable electric truck: I'm looking at you, Toyota!

Article in The NY Times at the weekend included one guy who said he would not currently buy an electric truck where he lives in NY State due to lack of wifi connection & charging stations. He said it’s just too dangerous to get stuck someplace & not be able to drive out of it.

5 or 10 years from now things may be better for e-vehicles.

Also picked up a washer and dryer off Craigslist last night. Helped reinforce the smartness of selling the FRS in favor of a having a truck.

Now I just gotta get a longer drain hose for the washer and clean some gunk, which kinda looks like tar, out of the dryer. Then I can start doing the laundry that has quickly piled up.

No, paid $500, but new they would cost $1500.

I bought them from a dude so he was probably just an idiot and put tar stained clothes in the dryer. Either that or it’s something else gummy like. I dunno.

Whirlpool makes good stuff. You got a good price.

Don’t put any clothes in the dryer until you figure out the tar. It would make me mental to have tar on my stuff.

Well, I gotta fix the washer hook ups before I can wash anything, so I will definitely get that gunk removed before it gets used. Good excuse to finally pick up some WD-40.

I have the 2049 poster next to my BR poster. It's a decent piece, but it has that damned teal and orange business going on, which I am dead sick of at this point. My vote is for The Fountain if it's a good piece of art you like a lot.

If you handle clothes correctly you’ll never need to worry about wrinkles.

The only reason this one is wrinkled is I just pulled it out of storage, but no matter what I do it ends up wrinkled because of how the fabric was cut. Basically, you’re missing the point of the shirt. It’s meant to give kid vibes. When was the last time you saw a kid saying to another kid “oy! You’re right wrinkled” or “I feel so sharp because I steamed this shirt this morning”.

Never.

Although, it did give me flashbacks to all the times mom nagged at me for wearing wrinkled clothing. I've been burned one too many times by an iron to ever pick it up again. But I do own one in case I ever gotta fend off burglars.

This one is its older brother: the X61. I got it in 2008 and used it all throughout college. Never gonna let it go even if it dies. I’ll just make it a display piece then. Too many good memories staying up til 2am writing term papers.

But I also do own a X220T, though, that I picked up in 2016, which is also running Linux. That was the last great X series laptop they made. IMO, anything later than that is trash.

Do you enjoy archaeology?

During the St. George's holidays, two weeks ago, we visited the remains of the medieval town of Missionis.
Started by the Byzantines, it flourished during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom around 12th century. Located on a pass in a small mountain, with its two Basilicas, excavated in the last decade, it is often discussed in the mass medias.

On the picture, remains of the town gates:

Some mourning doves (also known as turtle doves, yes like the Christmas song) decided to nest in a hanging planter next to our grill. Apparently they're notorious for this, nesting wherever, even on the ground if they can't find a good spot. Anyway, we had to use a different grill last week to avoid disturbing them.

My wife saw the parents do the shift change (they take turns sitting on the eggs), and they keep sitting on the babies even after they're hatched, which can look pretty absurd:

I had an hour drive, and had a walk up to a mountain top in my district. In the top right corner you can see a snowy mountain chain. That is Jotunheimen, containing Galdhøpiggen. The highest mountain in Norway. 2469 meters above sea level.
It is taken with a poor mobile camera, so not very high resolution. But that was my day so far. Still not sure on todays movie.

For those wondering:

It's traditional that when you take the team photo after winning a championship, everybody holds up a finger to indicate "#1." But one of our players is missing half a finger (he introduced himself as "Nubz" and we all call him that, and it's even on the back of his jersey), so on that second one we all raised a knuckle in his honor.

Per the softball stuff above, we had our annual year-end party (the year's still going on, but it's almost over and we didn't want to wait until it was cold) yesterday, and along with it the debut of this year's highlight reel. Possibly the only highlight reel that spends more time showing people falling down and missing the ball than making good plays.

If you've seen and enjoyed Major League (accordingly, note: some language), you'll get more out of it than most, particular with the way some of what our players did this year, and the fact that one guy has the same name as one of the characters in the movie.

Not the best pic in the world... but this is kinda what's been up with me for the past wee while.

I've lost 3 stones since mid December through illness but have been losing weight gradually for a while now.
3st in the past 4-6 weeks is about 6kg, or 14lbs.

Last time I lost weight like this was when I had a bad bout of Covid in December 2019 that left me bedbound for 4 or 5 days.
Done about 8 Covid tests in the past couple months, all negative.

But, sadly, the state of the NHS, you can't get in to see a doctor so I'm not entirely sure what's wrong.

The SPHERO one, the guide is online. I read that SPHERO no longer has licensing for Disney so you can't get customer support for the Droid. Which sux because I want to get that Droid.

My big BB-8 is Spin Master Hero BB-8 and I got him when they first came out. I got him at Toys R US for $150 about 5 years ago. Only played with him a few times. He went to Planet Comicon with me that year. He's about 16 inches tall and according to the Astromech Droid creators it has one of the best gyroscope systems in him. He is very heavy.

The 2nd BB-8, I got at Disney store about the same time and he makes noise. The last at 5 Below for $5. Those two just simply roll.

LO-LA59 (Lola) is young Princess Leia's Droid on the Obi-wan Kenobi series. She makes noise and her panels move. It would be cool if she hovered and moved like a drone. I got her for Christmas and she runs about $90.

Where did you get the Mr. Krabs? I totally want one :D

I got him on Mercari. He's part of the Pop Mart "Spongebob Pajama Party" series. He even came with a little Plankton. :) (I posted pictures below of the figures, and the front and side of the box.)

I sell character collectibles, and I started selling them because I was spending so much money collecting stuff that I found a way to make money while collecting them. So I have little figures like that all over my desk, as well as Funko Pops, statues, and other character stuff all over the house.

Some time this week, D-O will be here. He was ordered yesterday. He's interactive like big and medium BB-8 and Lola.

I don't need customer support for it. I just need to take the time to figure it out. (I bought it in a big toy deal I got at a garage sale, so we spent hours going through the stuff, but only about 5 minutes playing with him at the time.)

That's a very cool droid collection. I hope to have a bunch of them some day, but it will take a while.

I have a big R2-D2 droid, but I think it's missing a remote control for it. It makes noises, and his head turns, but it seems to need a remote control to move. (I bought it at a garage sale for $1, so I'm surprised it does anything at all.)

I don't have a D-O yet, but I'm hoping to find one at the right price eventually. I love toys, but I'm frugal, so I only buy them when I can get them cheap.

Your cousin sounds like Hubby. He has no problem offering someone a very cheap price for something that's priced too high. (But he does it very politely.) That's how we get stuff so cheap at garage sales.

The first time my nieces came over (yesterday).. What a handful! They just love screaming "Uncle Matthew!" before wanting to play every instrument in this house, and know what everything is - but I like their curiosity. And they both can play drums. They had great timing, and each one at different times would pick a drum pattern, and play it over and over - groovin'... Even when the oldest one would hit the cymbals, she hit them simultaneously. They wanted me to play for a few minutes, and if they remembered any of it, even better.

Depending on the condition, and whether or not it's complete and in the original box, they usually list anywhere from around $30 to $100, (sometimes more if it's brand new in the unopened box), but they usually sell for closer to about $30 to $50 (if they're not new in the box),

It depends on the item, but if you hold on to some things long enough, they start going up in value, but probably not enough to make you rich.

We have a warehouse full of stuff that we've had since the late 1990s and early 2000s. It's mostly toys and collectibles that we used to sell at comic conventions, but we had so much stuff back then that we had to store some of it away for a while. Some of it is stuff that was selling at the shows for around $5 back then.

We recently started listing some of it online, and a lot of those $5 items are now selling for anywhere from $20 to $150 each, depending on the item. Some of the vintage clothing is selling for hundreds of dollars each, and for some items, the buyers don't even care about the condition.

this is especially true for consumable media like the out of print DVD of Kiki’s Delivery Service i bought at a price i’m ashamed to admit. or the vinyl copy of Out of Myself by Riverside that hit an almost 2000% return before it got another printing run. could have been 50,000% return i still wouldn’t have sold it

I love vintage stuff. Article in The NY Times about Hèrmes bags. Apparently women are paying big bucks for the vintage bags even if they have wear & tear. Personally would not do this as wear & tear does not interest me. If I had a Hèrmes (which I never will) I would take care of it & treasure it.

The problem with buying vintage stuff is that you have to be careful that what you're buying is really vintage, and not a fake. There are a lot of fake items out there that are newer items, but they are made to look like vintage items, and unfortunately there are sellers who take advantage of this and try to sell them as vintage items.

Yes, you definitely have to know what you’re buying. Conversely some people don’t recognize a bargain when they see me.

Maybe my best buy was in the city when I used to frequent consignment stores. A Jacques Fath couture black & white dress that I judged was never worn. Cost me $250 (and this was a long time ago), but it was worth it to me.

Hot tip for those of you selling online:

I've made a surprising amount of money selling old ticket stubs. My family had season tickets to the local NFL team starting in 1980, and although I can't give some of the tickets away, others are selling for ridiculous amounts. Recently made $1000 on one ticket from 1989, just because it happened to be the debut of a future Hall of Fame player. (I had no idea and listed it with a starting price of $2. :o)

I've also sold a few concert stubs as well. Again, some seem to be of absolutely no interest to anyone while others get multiple bids.
Just something to think about next time you're cleaning out your junk drawer.

Not in my experience. I'm just a small-timer, selling personal belongings that I don't want anymore, but I've been doing it since 2006 and since the beginning I've often been shocked at what people are paying for my "junk". One man's trash, etc...

I suppose, £30+ is the price of the new re-releases. They are about the same price here and can't be other way. Anyway, I'm not interested in these.
I collect the original releases of their time. The price of the old stuff at the local meetings and collectors clubs vary mostly from £7 to £25 for LPs and from £2.50 to £7.50 for 7" singles.
For this 7" Poison single, I've paid about £5 (translated to your money). The trader wanted £7-£8 for each of these singles. I wanted to buy them for £3.50 each. ;)
After a short bargain fight, we made a deal for £5 per item if I take more of them.

Hello everyone,
A lot has happened since I posted a picture or made an update. I recently (5 months ago) seperated from Devorah and we are going through a divorce currently. I wil not go into the reasons why, but it is certainly the bet for us both.

Dev did have weight loss surgery and lost over 200 lbs in about a year. She did amazing at losing the weight and in keeping it off. I am very proud and happy for her.

I myself have lost a llittle over 100 lbs and I weigh 220 lbs now and I was at 325 lbs in Febuary 2023. I was able to do this by eating healthy, drinking lots of water, eating low carbs, and exercise.

I have recently started dating (dating sucks these days).again and have found a reelly great woman. She is a nurse and has a big heart. I am very grateful to have her in my life.
