I need to get back in the gym. However, work has really beefed up my legs. Lots of walking, pushing heavy carts, and I take the stairs 2x2 when I don't have a cart. I still expect to see my old chicken legs whenever I look down, but they're gone!

What is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? :confused:The thoracic nerve runs through your shoulder and is the neural pathway for everything else in your arm. If it gets pinched in your shoulder all sorts of bad s*** starts to happen. That's what TOS is, but that might not be the cause. However, they say like 95% of TOS cases are caused by nerve problems (i.e. it getting pinched).

I just did a few exercises. I mainly went to get a green light for a transition to lifting weights again. Low weight/high reps. Ease back on into it and do the exercises to keep the upper back strong so it holds it in place. My left side is weak/underdeveloped, which was causing the shoulder blade to sit in the wrong position. Yeah, NOT FUN. So yeah, glad it's better. Elbow still hurts, though. Probably a little longer for that to heal.

I basically already knew what was wrong and how to correct it but I wanted to get a professional opinion on it. Doctor pretty much agreed with what I told him and gave me the green light for heavier lifting.

First off, I know when Foreman's heyday was. I'm 56 and followed boxing, especially in the '60s and '70s. My wording was based on the idea that I thought you were older than apparently you are, Foreman has always looked young for his age and I don't recall when he shaved his head. The main reason I made that comment was because I didn't think anybody else knew that was a pic of Foreman.

Also, the way you phrased the people in the pic, it implied you were the younger brother on the right. Look, I'm all for you sharing things with us. We like it. You might not believe it, but many people share all kinds of personal info and photos about themselves and their families and no one has become a victim of foul play. Then again, some people do disappear all of a sudden, and never come back, so maybe we do have some sinister serial killer stalking the site, but I wouldn't count on it.

If you want to see what my family and I look like, just go to the Advanced Search page, type "Personal" in the keyword space, choose "Search Titles OnlY" and type "user name" in as "mark f". It will show every picture I've posted or commented about. I'm not hiding anything.

In truth, I was happy to see that last photo because I thought you were feeling comfy enough to trust us to see you. I certainly didn't take it as some show-off thing with George Foreman. When I was young, I went crazy for Jerry West and Jim Fregosi and got their autographs, as well as many other local sports heroes. As you know, it's a normal thing for a young sports fan to do.

I really don't get it. Where do you come up with these references?
What is it about the picture that I posted with George Foreman that seems fabricated? The fact that I'm in a picture with George Foreman?
You've never been to some event and taken a picture with a celebrity?
The fact that I was a cute kid, just like the kid posted prior to my post?
You seem to be obssessed with this Juno character. And obviously you do give a damn because you keep mentioning it. Somebody had to school you on the fact that I'm not even a woman. You neeed to let that go. Sorry, I'm not Juno and I don't want to be. Who else should I be and still make you happy?

I understand where you are coming from and obviously you feel comfortable enough to reveal a lot of personal information that any one can have access to. I'm in a different situation and it's not like I want to play games but what I reveal, only those that really know me well can recognize and that I don't mind. But there are people that I don't want to know who I am and where I am and no I don't have a criminal record.
I'm not posting some random stuff from the internet but I'm being very selective as to what I post as I don't want to be completely identified by those whom I don't want to identify me. I'm not paranoid and if you knew more about me, you would understand.
When it comes to that, the one thing that is in my favor is that with time my appearance has changed and even now can fluctuate with weight. When I'm 40 pounds heavier or lighter, there's a big difference even in my face. If I add a mustache or a beard, then I'm really a chameleon.
So the thing about posting stuff on a public forum should not necessarily be assumed as some fabrication as we all choose to share what we want
and unless there is a perception of fraudelent intention, it should not be questioned.
I would assume that most of us would want to put our best foot forward and sometimes it can appear too good to be true, but if it is, then we are firstly lying to ourselves and that doesn't make any one feel any better.

Dear Nausicaa, if you bothered to read my reply to Mark ( which I'm sure you did ) you would understand that I don't wish to be pin pointed. So, why keep on trying? I can only guess that I'm younger than you and I you can make your own determination by what you saw in the two photos. I promise not to ask you for your birth certificate, social security number, driving liscence, passport, dog tags or any other kind of proof verifying exact age and I expect you to give me the same courtesy.
Afterall, this is not Match.com but when and if the same rules change and start applying, I will probably depart as it's important to me to retain my privacy.
I think if you were given a real glimpse into the tracking and hacking methods used for identity theft and other persuits, you might reconsider asking people you don't know, about personal information on a public forum as I'm sure you yourself would not want to become a target.
For all you know, you could be talking to someone in a witness protection program and I'm sure they wouldn't give you the answers you are looking for, even if you were to make friends with them and exchange information through PM's only, restricting general public view.
I don't know about the UK, but I can tell you with outmost certainty that the issue of privacy has become paramount in the US.
Part of the beauty of the internet is that one can still maintain a degree of privacy and at the same time reveal only what one is comfortable with.
With the advent of stricter government regulations and web sites such as Facebook, My Space and Twitter, the priveledges of privacy that we now enjoy, will soon be gone and all those people that are on those sites will be more compromised ( then they allready are ) even if the information that they provided was just partialy true and limited.

I find the internet kind of disturbing now when it comes to personal information, but even more than just that. Sometimes I feel like you're dealing with two worlds - the real world and the internet world - and I dunno if it's just me or just because I know the internet before things like Facebook and Myspace came along. To me, before those sites came along, it was a privilege to know someone's real name on something like a forum or something. Or to see their picture. Sure, there were people who gladly gave it away quickly -- all those internet sluts -- but not everybody did, and even still, not everybody does.

But now all these social media sites are out to practically throw the real you fully onto the internet. Everything's out to play with you on the internet while tagging you to it with your own real name and identity. Personally, it all kinda disturbs me -- there's something about giving your whole life away to a computer or phone or whatever and creating "you" in Internet form that bugs me. I find it all perhaps worse than getting a tattoo on your body, even -- if Google or something saves something you wrote on a forum or Facebook or something in 2012, what's going to happen when you're Googled (by name) in 2030 and you no longer want what you said to be on the internet? But you can't do anything about it, perhaps. Same goes with pictures -- if a picture ends on the internet, you run the risk of it being copied by others and appearing somewhere else. Anything you do online can very well stay online for life. Before the internet, people didn't have this sort of thing to think about. The odd thing is, it seems like so many people have grown accustomed to being okay with this. But to me, it feels like the internet has taken away a lot of privacy rights and it kinda seems like madness to me to have to juggle the real world and the internet world. The internet is certainly the real world, but to me, it feels like this extra dimension where people could become bodiless and not even have to be themselves if they don't want to -- but now with social media sites, they're really trying to stop that.

I don't know. The internet is not really that much different than how it was in, say, 1996. At a basic level, it's the same. It's still a dimension that allows people to communicate all over the world. But now it's being highly encouraging to make you put your whole life on the internet. It bugs me. It's cool sometimes and yet I also think it's nuts. I really wonder what my life would be like in a world without the internet. But there's no way to know. Now you have to live your life with the internet (well, most people do, at least). Now you're encouraged to join Facebook and put everything about yourself online. Sure, the internet has a lot of pros, but I also feel it's getting crazier.

Trust me, going by that second photo of the man, you are older than me.

:)

And for someone with an issue of privacy - you sure don't mind sharing 'photos' that show you as a child, and then an adult.

As for privacy, I'm not paranoid about it - doesn't bother me because I don't share things online that I don't want people knowing or seeing. Facebook for example - I put photos up on it to share with people on my friends list, but if anyone ever managed to get through my privacy settings there would be nothing on it where it would matter if someone got their hands on them, or any information actually.

When I google my name, nothing comes up. :D

I just worry about your health :yup: my friend died 3yrs ago of Lung Cancer :( she was only 42yrs old :bawling:

Both my grandfathers died of cancer. One was made worse by his smoking and one was a direct cause of it. I can tell all you smokers that it is not a fun way to go. The thing I don't get is, why does anyone smoke that first cigarette? Are there really so many people that just let peer pressure take them? If you don't allow yourself to get started then you can't blame the addiction. I keep thinking that the habit will just die out over time, but young people pick up the habit anyway. Doesn't make any sense to me. :(

The Rodent
05-18-12, 09:52 AM
I started young, so peer pressure was a major factor.

You'll find most (not all, but certainly most) smokers have started at a young age.

Smoking when I was at school was like a right of passage into Manhood. Sounds silly I know, but that's how kids think.

I've tried to quit, but it's extremely hard.
People reckon that after a week, maybe two, the cravings go away. I actually managed to go cold turkey for over three months, but every day was a nightmare, so I went back on them.
I have cut down though, I was smoking 50 grams of tobacco a week, now I'm on 25 grams every two weeks, so I've cut down to a quarter of what I was on. Plus it's tobacco pouches I smoke, rather than regular fags, so in a way, they're slightly better for you too. Normal fags contain huge amounts of chemicals including arsenic, rolling baccy doesn't.
Eventually, I'll cut them out to just social smoking. I play pool a lot so a few beers and a ciggy while I'm playing. Then hopefully cut them all together.

honeykid
05-18-12, 08:32 PM
I've tried to quit, but it's extremely hard.
No, it's really not. Don't buy any. Don't put any in your mouth but, mainly, don't light them.

People reckon that after a week, maybe two, the cravings go away. I actually managed to go cold turkey for over three months, but every day was a nightmare, so I went back on them.

Other than watching an unhealthy amount of films, I paint miniatures.

I don't play Wargames though, I just enjoy making scenery and painting the models. Been doing it for 20 years or so...

For scale for anyone who isn't up on the Wargames thang, the bases that these little guys are standing on is exactly 1 inch across.

I'm not the most elegant with words now..lol! ;) But, it's true though. My Mother is full on drunk, my sister has bi-polar and my brothers are alright I suppose. My Father isn't strong now, why? His old and his 4 brothers are dead and that side of the family don't live long. Put it this way, his Father died when he was 10 & his Mother died when he was 14.
