What's important is he was actually interested. I'm not worried about him being able to climb at 4 years old, just hoping he will develop an interest.

Wow G, that country looks beautiful. Reminds me of here in Upstate NY Adirondacks.

Land of my father(s) so it is :) (We were in Mid-Wales, north of the Brecons, and the West coast near Aberaeron).

It is far prettier than rocks I normally live among ;) (and has prettier animals than rock pigeons too - altho we never did see a kingfisher)

We were dead lucky with the weather for April tho. It's normally a boggy mix of mist and downpours I'm told. Managed to get a day of kayaking in and everything. (Not that we know how to kayak. Mainly went sideways ;))

*EDIT*

Blimey, Adirondacks looks lush (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Adirondacks&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=810)! :) Wales is a bit more modest in scale ;) (The mountains are so old they stoop ;))

*EDIT*

Cheers Nebs :)

Certified Catastrophe Modeler. don't feel bad for not knowing, nebbit. there's only about a couple hundred in all the US, and the company had to pay out a boatload of money for her to get certified.

it has to do with reinsurance / probability about the weather, natural catastrophes science, the earth's crust, and a whole bunch of other stuff i hardly understand.

in the end she ended up memorizing half the book by setting it to the melody of Turkey in the Straw.

You are quite good-looking, Molly. It's too bad that you're getting married or I would hook you up with The Prestige. He's good-looking too (I think).

Also speech therapist... that's cool. I studied multilingual communication. Post vocalic R and dental fricatives are a b!tch to get the hang of if you're Belgian.

not the greatest quality, but my favorite boss (he quotes Zoolander with me!) and i at the 50th anniversary party from last weekend. i had to go without a date, so i only had one glass of wine.

plus, i didn't know anyone there, so i was really bored.

it isn't as fun to drink when you're alone, though! i had to sit with a tableful of people i hardly knew or liked, whilst avoiding the gaze of a certain co-worker who is hard to avoid, and tried to stay upright in my new heels.

company parties aren't really that fun when everyone else is 40 years older than you.

ash_is_the_gal
04-27-11, 08:56 PM
Sexy, we're pretty much the same age, aren't we? i think so. anyway, i have a similar relationship with alcohol. a few years ago i used to love drinking and getting kinda *********, but now i could really care less. i think the thrill of it being new is gone; plus i feel too... old to find it naughty or exciting anymore. getting drunk just feels sad. :(

i AM old.

it's more fun to watch other people get drunk.

ash_is_the_gal
04-27-11, 09:05 PM
it's hard to get drunk like that. plus, i don't have the stomach for it. i always pay for it later. BIG TIME.

but, yeah! i never got into smoking and stuff like that, so i can safely say drinking alcohol is my only experience with an altered state. and alcoholism runs in my family, so i should be careful. though, i can't ever see myself turning into one. it just doesn't appeal to me.

i'm more addicted to food.

Brodinski
04-28-11, 08:17 AM
I don't get the dread about getting older. Yes, you may start to feel age catching up with you a little, even at age 30 (I guess?), but just think about what you've accomplished and how your life will be like then. I myself am looking forward to having a steady job I like, my own place with my girl and a couple of kids. I'd like to have all that by the time I'm 30, but even if I have only 2 of those 3, I'll still be more satisfied than I am today. My life will be more complete I think.

So don't whine about getting old, because it won't help you one bit. Just enjoy life. (and have sex, lots of it)

ash_is_the_gal
04-28-11, 08:49 AM
i'm not really dreading getting older. i think about the future a lot, too, and how much nicer it will be. but, i have to admit, i do think about my age a lot more since i turned 25. can't help it. it's pretty standard.

Brodinski
04-28-11, 08:58 AM
I guess that's normal behavior for girls. My girlfriend is freaking out already, because she's turning 20. Every time I tell her, she says: "I'm still closer to 19 than I am to 20". She's not, but whatever. Comes with the gender I reckon.

This is my wonderful little dog Lucky who sadly passed away last year. I miss him every day

And this is the little squirrel I've kind of unofficially 'adopted'. He lives in a huge tree nearby and I see and feed him every day. He actually showed up just a little while after I lost Lucky and it was really nice just to have the little bit of contact with an animal, a little connection to nature

but... how do you know it's the same squirrel?

I just do! I can recognise him by his spirit, his essence, his lifeforce. I can see it in his eyes! :D

No but seriously I think there have been a total of three different squirrels. 2 squirrels from the one tree who are quite friendly with each other and then another one from a tree a few gardens over who will kind of get into it with them. One squirrel (the pictured one) is very friendly, will just come over right away for food. He's the one I see everyday, the other two just every so often. His pal is a little wary but will come over eventually while the other one still doesn't trust me at all yet.

And I can tell for sure it's the same squirrel as he had a little scar on his back which revealed a small stripe of skin. And I can just notice a difference generally in terms of size, markings, technique of moving etc

Age hasn't bothered me yet, and I hit 40 later this year. I just never think about it.

My 40s were my favorite years--had established myself in my career, got out of my second marriage, my kids were essentially grown and doing well, and I had time, money, and was meeting lots of women. Life was one big party. Hope it turns out that way for you--the party, I mean; I wouldn't wish going through a divorce on anyone. You never really know a woman until you divorce her.

my legs are pale and ugly in this pic.

Ash, if you were my girl and I was buying an outfit for you and since you apparently don't like your legs, I'd pick out a pair of nice summer wool slacks with full legs, which would look good on you--probably would make your legs appear longer too.

I really like your hair--nice color, looks clean and shiny. I'd like to see it in a shorter cut that draws attention to your pretty face. I think the longer hairstyle brings one's eyes down and away from your face, which is definitely your best feature, especially that lovely smile. Someone should teach you the right things to do with makeup and such to make your eyes really pop, which would draw more attention to your sweet face.

And if I may say so, you appear pretty well endowed, although that dress doesn't do justice to your body. You should always accentuate your "good points" in a tasteful manner. Not so much drawing attention to them, but just making people aware they're there. You're a pretty girl, and with some guidance on clothes and makeup, you'd never go anywhere alone again.

Fug, I turned 68 a month ago and seldom ever think back to when I was 28. By then I had an 8-year-old daughter who I didn't see often enough because she was living hundreds of miles away with my ex-wife, and my oldest son by my second wife was about a year old, and I was probably just starting to go fulltime to college, working in my spare time as a teaching assistant. Except for the kids and the fact my second wife hadn't yet developed into a nut case, life wasn't all that exciting then, living in student apartments on my wife's full-time salary, my part-time salary and the GI bill, plus student loans and an occasional scholarship. My biggest accomplishment at the time was making the Dean's list by maintaing an above 3-point average in my grades. My 20s-30s weren't all that exciting--I've had a lot better times since then, including in my 60s. Funny thing is I don't feel a bit different from when I was 17, although I've learned a hell of a lot over the years. Boy, if I could go back to then knowing what I know now, my first-ex-wife-to-be would catch hell and some of the other girls in our school would be writing about me in their diaries.

I could help out if you've got any questions regarding what to eat / what not to eat or regarding how you'd like to look eventually (big, lean, extremely cut...)Two general goals are to even out my pecs and get my abs to show while standing. I've lost a little weight, which pretty much all came from my mid-section. I can also tell a huge difference in my chest, though, as my pecs feel more weighty/muscular. You can also tell my biceps and triceps are more pronounced/bigger, too. Overall, though, my main goal is symmetry, so I wouldn't mind packing on some muscle as long as I'm symmetrical.

I'm going to start doing compound exercises when I get back from my two trips this June. Things like deadlifts, squats, and more of the bench presses: flat, incline, and decline.

My eating regime isn't as good as it should be but I've got limits on everything at least. Also, the protein shake I use is fantastic and healthy.

i wanted to test this photobucket app on my phone.

here's a pic of me with proof that i actually once wore a bikini. this is a page from my child hood scrapbook, so above you can see: Celine Dion's ugly head, Grease, and... this boy i had a crush on when i was like 11. looool

pic deleted. 'tis much too embarrassing. :) the app does work, though!

Anyway, we enjoyed a very nice little breakfast at this great little cafe just down the road from where Holds resides and next time we hope to be able to get a show in. There's a really cool looking little theater just a few minutes away from where we were sitting. We talked up a few movies (shocker!) and also shared some cat stories. And toyed with the idea of calling the Humane society on this crazy lady that gave her poor dog a mo-hawk haircut. People can be so bizarre sometimes.

Anywho we had a really nice time and hope to be back down there pretty soon to chat again.

PW, if you're the one on the left in the T-shirt, and Holds is the one in the black shirt ... then that's pretty much how I pictured BOTH of you. And yes, it is VERY cool that these MoFo meetups are happening.

Remember, if any of yinz guys go anywhere near the Pittsburgh area, you can meet TWO or even THREE MoFos since Yoda and I and Planet News all live in the general vicinity. Plus, "Gracie" from the older MoFo days is around too.

It's a mix. The Silver Bullet (who's from Australia) was visiting America in late '09 and I had a work trip to Annapolis scheduled, so we met in D.C., which he was visiting anyway. Then he went across-country last year and crashed here for a couple of days.

Planet and I both live in Pittsburgh, and I believe Holden and PW both live near each other, too. But MattJohn took a train up to Boston from Virginia to meet Sedai. So a little of both.
