I think he's looking for reasons why he's not as awesome as Leo. Certainly, a pitifully failed rap career counts against him--if that was even real. I don't think it was. Phoenix is one of the best actors of this generation, if not the best. He is a natural, life-long actor with acting running in his family. I don't think he would have thrown it away, especially after such success. He gave a great performance in Reservation Road and an award-worthy performance in Two Lovers. Why just drop it all after that? He was at the peak of his artistic abilities. But yeah, we really should shift these conversations to Leo and Joaquin and Gosling threads or something.

Not necessarily. The hook still injures the fish and many released fish die of their wounds later on. There's also the issue of the live bait that many fishermen use.

Well being that he's vegan (he was raised that way, btw, and his siblings are vegan as well), I'd assume that anything that was once alive wouldn't be acceptable anyway.

Veganism is an extreme form of vegetarianism. Vegans will not eat any meat, eggs, dairy, honey or other animal derived products. They also will not use or wear anything made from animal fibers, skin, etc. Which is why anytime any of Phoenix's characters are seen to be wearing anything like that, you can bet that the wardrobe department actually made them out of something else.

You're making a blanket statement based on what a few vocal extremists in the movement have said. Not all animal rights activists are against pet ownership.

Instead they promote responsible pet ownership. They work to pass laws to protect domestic animals and work to improve their lives.

Only extremist groups like the ALF (essentially a terrorist organization that has to keep its membership secret due to illegal activities) and PETA actually advocate such things and, quite frankly, many other groups have tried to distance themselves from them.

No matter how many ways people on both sides of the argument make the comparison, I believe it's a fallacy of logic to say that the domestication of animals and the enslavement of people are the same thing. Truly domesticated animals are completely different from their wild counterparts both in terms of physical structure and behavior. For most this is true to the point that they have become completely separate species. In many cases, these changes are so extreme that the animal not only cannot sustain itself without the help of man, but cannot even reproduce without it.

This is not the same as just taking something that was once free, calling it your property, and using it for your own purposes.

But anyway, this really isn't the place for this discussion, so I'll end it here.

I'll be damned if Phoenix isn't on some serious class A drugs in that interview. Letterman obviously just wants to sit there and take the piss out of him, very cringey, I dunno if I would have been able to laugh if I was in the audience, I sort of feel bad for him.

In May 2010, Casey Affleck's documentary on Phoenix, I’m Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix, was shown to potential buyers. The LA Times reported that the film featured "more male frontal nudity than you’d find in some gay porn films and a stomach-turning sequence in which someone feuding with Phoenix defecates on the actor while he’s asleep".

The guy has gone down a seriously dark and strange road in his life, I just hope he gets back on track and starts making some good movies again, very talented actor. Lets hope and pray he sorts it all out and doesn't end up like River

Yep, I have been interested in modeling and acting since I was about 4 years old I guess. I have had many local modeling shoots for child magazines and teen magazines and I was also cast in a commercial when I was 5 years old for Bristle Blocks and also when I was 14 for Tampax. I currently have a local agent here in Maryland, but he has recommended that I send out portfolio's out west to other bigger agencies that will be able to support me better than he would locally . So we just finished doing that and now it is in the wait and see mode. Yep, I have been interested in modeling and acting since I was about 4 years old I guess. I have had many local modeling shoots for child magazines and teen magazines and I was also cast in a commercial when I was 5 years old for Bristle Blocks and also when I was 14 for Tampax. I currently have a local agent here in Maryland, but he has recommended that I send out portfolio's out west to other bigger agencies that will be able to support me better than he would locally . So we just finished doing that and now it is in the wait and see mode. We had a lady on tv over here on Britain's Got Talent with her rescue dog that she'd taught to dance. Your little boy might like to see these, they're lots of fun. You can see how much the dog loves the lady, that faithfulness is what makes dogs such great pets.

They are truly amazing, even their instinctual smarts are crazy. My grandfather has some land with cattle, and we took the border collie up to visit. He had never seen cattle before in his life and he immediately ran at them and starting herding them, it was incredible! We are getting the younger Australian Shepherd into frisbee catching just like his pal Dexter. They are awesome pets :)

Here is my future son-in-law Brahm and I during our trip to Kalamazoo Mich. to clean up the oil. This stuff was very nasty and was nothing compared to the gulf cleanup. It was more concentrated which is good in one way because it was not widespread, but on the other hand the area that was hit was extremely bad. We are both in chest waders and I am in the oil-infested water pulling up limbs and whatnot that was contaminated. I might be going back in a few days, but it is really nasty and rough work. Most of the waders leaked and you would be standing in toxic crap all day long, if they can promise me proper gear I will probably go back. Oh yeah pictures were not allowed, but hey I am a rebel.....;)
