Not exactly a picture, but I put together a highlight reel (well, if falling down counts as a highlight) for my softball team, the Raging Avocados. Came out pretty well!

I presume you are the Raging Avocados primarily to indicate to opposition teams that you have the 'stones' to take on anyone and that the team colours were just an extension of the theme?

Actually we just already had green shirts and we were suggesting names that fit the color, and I suggested that as a joke, and it won overwhelmingly.

Well, hopefully the opposing teams don't know the truth and you can let the mythos of my thinking develop in their heads ;)

The wife is working on some decorations this year.

About 90 percent done, a few more finishing touches needed. She is also going to mount them on something to make them look like a totem pole.

That's me in the slasher hockey mask with the American flag behind me. One little boy saw me and went "Daddy Daddy it's Jason!!" Then he came up and grabbed my arm and said "You belong back at our house." Later another kid passing by on a golf cart yelled out, "We killed one of your brethren (holding up a hockey mask), hope you don't mind." Told him not to worry, I'll visit him later. (Cheating, Jason can't talk). Saw some Stormtroopers, they told us to "Move Along."

For my wife's Christmas present I helped her fulfil a long-standing desire to hold a sloth. She has a fascination with those hairy, slow, lazy things (which may in fact be part of her underlying attraction to yours truly), so I found a small zoo in Wheeling, West by-God Virginia that hosts private "encounters" with some of their animals. Including their sloth. On New Years Day she got to hold and feed a sloth for about an hour and a half before we took it back to its enclosure.

My gift giving is alllllll downhill from here. She loved it.

The other day while watching "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms", I remembered a story about a Mouse Prince, not a Mouse King, but a Prince. So I went on the world wide web hunt for the Mouse Prince and I came across a Danish company that makes cute little mice, bunnies and other stuffed animals. I noticed retailers in my area sold these Maileg mice and whatnots. I got my first 2 today. Let me introduce you to my mice named after two of my favorite Danish people. I plan on collecting these cute little beings and perhaps more from the Maileg collection.

Your maple is looking good! I had one of those planted by a gazebo at my old house. It grew to be quite big and was beautiful when leafed out. :(sad that I have no idea what it looks like now...I hope it's still there and not cut down by some fool.

:D yeah they can get massive if left unchecked.
I keep mine in an 6 inch deep pot on a plinth and I keep the roots cut back, and every year I trim back the branches.

I need to have a really good cut back at the end of this year tbh and get her back to looking how she was 5-6 years ago.

The thing with Acers is they can take a proper chopping up and some really nasty weather, and they always come back.

I've seen Japanese red maples planted outdoors as decorative trees, and, yes , they seem to be quite hardy. No problem surviving a winter. They don't grow as tall as, say, our native red maples (Acer rubrum) , so that could be why they're good candidates for bonsai. But even a maple can't withstand weather extremes so well - I'm guessing too much ice or rain? .

I' m not as dedicated a floral caretaker as you - I do more nature walks than gardening- but enjoy seeing your little beauty very much ( as does Citizen Rules- glad to know there's another 'tree hugger' on mofo, ). You're a good 'plant daddy' The Rodent- and congrats to your little tree for a 10 year anniversary.

I love bonsai. I have also seen 'natural bonsai' in areas-- a mountaintop for instance- where the foliage has been pruned and shaped by the winds to create a landscape that looks like a Japanese garden. Just lovely.

Definitely the freedom gives them higher intelligence and longer lives.

Used to breed budgies years ago, had over 500 of the feathery little turdbags :D
Longest lived one we had was a Cobalt female, lived to 18 years old. She was a right mean and nasty bird as well.

My guess is that the name is based on the lead character from The Three Musketeers novels (as a set known as the "d'Artagnan Romances") by Alexander Dumas!

Perhaps they learned now that you can flavor it to hide the taste of humans... the brown is actually Cacao (Chocolate). They have Strawberry flavored as well.

For those on the go... we got Soylent Squared... flavored human bars!!

I wonder if its possible that the creators knew nothing of the film. (The green crackers were horrible to look at anyway!)

I do like the cute and unique... they are cute mice and they are shipped to the USA by the Danish company that manufactors them.

I asked MovieMeditation about them when I first discovered them.. they are a high end Danish kids stuffed toys. To me, they are cute collectables that are rare. Only a few stores sell them. Mainly one, which happens to be across the street from where my daughter works.

I think Slappydavis loves Soylent, yeah. I tried something called Meal Squares for a bit. They weren't bad, but not appetizing enough to want to eat all the time. I can see the appeal, though, of just not thinking so much about food. It can drain a lot of thought to decide what to eat each day.

OMG videos! That's a first (isn't it?) We get to hear your voice!

I'm curious though, John McClane ... you seem to appear quite male in these. What up with that?I live in an area where I don't feel comfortable/safe letting "mah freak flag" fly. Plus, I like looser fitting clothing because it's just more comfortable. Plus, I have a job where I have to get dirty at times, and I'd rather not ruin a dress. Plus, people listen better when I present like a dude: ask any woman and they'll tell ya what I'm talking about. Plus, I have yet to find a store that has clothing that consistently fits me, whereas the smallest men's size in Eddie Bauer fits like a dream. Plus, bras are whack and I have small boobs so #FreeTheNipple. Plus, makeup is expensive and I have no idea what to use, so I'm not going to waste money on that either. Basically, I became painfully aware of how many different things are used to temper women's power in this world, and I made a conscious decision to not conform/surrender my power.

But none of the above detracts from my womanhood, and I'm comfortable enough with myself these days to realize it doesn't matter how someone sees me.

Yup, Soylent is one of the biggest changes to my life over the last few years, and so far at least, a very positive one.

Those squares are a new product that I haven't gotten to try yet, but I think I'll prefer the drink version by a long ways. The drink version delicious and forces me to be a little bit hydrated at least.

I'm somewhere around 50% of my food being soylent. I try not to ever only have soylent on any given day, but I have a soylent nearly every single day.

The creator was a big fan of the novel that Soylent Green was based on, so the reference is intentional, and has been a mixed bag as far as branding goes (both draws in and pushes away people), but it's far too late for them to change their minds now. I like that the name is a bit rough.
