The Shoutbox
Wow, I just looked at the recent post ratings and noticed I've gotten some negative points for some posts that, after rereading them, I couldn't seem to find out why. Oh well, just surprised me.
Well, it's an avi file so it's not in DVD format. That's the only conversion that needs to be made before it plays on a DVD player. Like I said, dvdSanta does a very good job.
I didn't realize you had to convert it first, either. That's kinda what I meant by ours taking so long if we're going from analog to digital (videotapes to DVD). Takes pretty much ALL FREAKIN' DAY. Sheesh.
WARNING: ""The Office" spoilers below
NNNNNNNOOOOOOO!!! How could Dwight quit!? He's obviously not going to be gone from the show for good, but I wonder what they're going to do with him.

So depressed.
Well, dvdSanta is a very good program to convert and then burn.
You could probably try finding a program online to convert movie files.
Yup, thanks very much Matthew

So there's not a quick way to convert .avi before burning?
Well, if you want it to play in a standard DVD player, you have pretty much no choice but to convert it. Unless, of course, your DVD player can play .avi files. In that case, you can just burn the file to a data DVD. That make sense?
Balls. So .avi isn't the ideal format to burn to dvd+rw? Any tips or should i just let it go? And yeh, the computer i'm using's pretty ****, mostly set up to my essays for uni on and not much else.
Yup, OG- is right. I didn't know you were converting it Pyro Tramp. Sounds like you got a slow computer.
I'm assuming you're trying to burn the avi so it'll play in a set-top player? If so, depending on the specs of your comp, 7 hours isn't all that much of a stretch. Nero has to convert the .avi first, which can take quite a long time.
