The Shoutbox
One of the reasons I don't watch TV shows. They're not cinema. (Also, you can't rate them on RYM.) They're something else. A separate art, if you will. Cinephiles don't really watch TV series, or maybe watch them as an additional thing next to their cinephilia, which means watching films and films alone! There's an intersection between film and TV, obviously. Some series are actually films divided into parts, something you actually feel when watching them.

The Twilight Zone is amazing, but I never started season 4. Finished season 3 and I'm quite happy with calling it quits after that.
People are forgetting about TV shows being binge watched that also take away from your movie watching time. Right now I'm about halfway through the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and just about finished with season 3 of The Boys. Sometimes you just don't have 2 hours to spare for a movie so I usually revisit Seinfeld or old episodes of The Twilight Zone.

And weirdly enough I found that missing season 4 of TZ I never could seem to track down. Turns out that particular year they experimented with hour long episodes. Who knew? Not I said the cat, goose and rat.

At one point you have to ask yourself why am I watching films? and if the answer is "to waste time and not be bored", fair enough, but one would think that dedicating a big chunk of your life to something would have a greater meaning

Yes, I like it when a film's ending remains shrouded in mystery.

You’re doing it right!

I would have too much of a complex that I should be reading if I was spending that much energy having a passive experience.
Initially, when a WoT appears in the Shouter, something seems amiss in the Universe. A token of another dimension that has slipped through a tear in the fabric between two realms. Filling it full of something not quite meant to be.

Then you remember to flush twice and jiggle the handle this thyme.

Think of it this way: An ascetic approach to filmmaking. The rejection of the commercial and industrial aspects of cinema, which are corrupting and alienating. Low budgets, minimal equipment and resources, and a small crew of collaborators. Avoiding the glamour and celebrity of the film industry, and instead focusing on the essential and meaningful aspects of the work.

Films that are humble, modest, austere, and abstinent, almost saintly, because they reflect the respect for their sources, their subjects, and their viewers. Directors who do not impose their own emotions on the material, but rather let it speak for itself. They do not manipulate or sensationalize the reality they depict but rather present it with honesty and clarity. Directors who do not entertain or distract the viewer, but rather challenge and provoke them to think and feel for themselves.

Do you know of any films like this? Are these the movies you carefully pick as worthy?
