Yeah, that's how it was at the hotel. Stupid.
What gets me is how many are doing the half % matches.

"We want to use more of your money, but give you less to do it."
When I was at the hotel all I could hope to get was a 4% match. Boy, I do not miss that shithole.
Yeah, 8% for my 5% is a great deal. Leaves me a few points shy of the recommended amount.

It’s unheard of in my area to get that high of a match, and they also contribute 2% even if you don’t contribute yourself, which would just be insane.
Oh geez, if your employer does any matching, max that out immediately as often as possible. That's getting rarer.

Just like a 401k, if there is a company match, the HSA is a no-brainer.

I max out the company match and you can take it with you (mine) if you leave.
how good is your match? I get a 8% match for putting in 5%. Definitely thinking about upping my contribution to 12% so I can have a nice round 20% going back. Of course, it is a measly amount of a measly amount.
