Just be glad I didn't remind you guys about John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt! That will get stuck in someone's head for days!
very small world. I'm just a 30-minute drive to the FL state line, more or less. And now you're near Gatlinburg! I really miss that time in my life. I believe we had a truly inspired youth pastor. He was a musician, funny, and could speak with kids rather than at them. He was like the coolest uncle to all of us kids, and he really encouraged music in the youth group. At any given time, there was at least 2 youth bands trying to make something of ourselves going. Like I mentioned earlier, the youth group basically converted a 2-bay garage shop into our own place. I remember scraping gunk off the foundation with a chisel when we first got it. We would have wednesday youth services there and it was open fri/sat nights for a place that teens could hang out. We built a stage and sound booth and really tried to connect to other youth groups in the area. The guy was great, really influencing my development at the time.

Ok. enough memory lane crap Still, neat though how some of this is overlapping

You named a couple I don't really remember. What is your age if you don't mind me asking. I am 42. So my wheel house for this stuff was like '87-'94.
41 last August. I'm from the south east my church was pretty good with the youth group they gave us a building that we turned into kind of like a weekend club for teenagers foosball ping pong live music. we had a lot of church bands from the tri-state area that would come out so we were introduced to a lot of kind of young upstarts and each year we would take part in a Gatlinburg youth retreat Ski Invasion a lot of bands would play there too.
My youth group days were in Florida so we always did Disney when they had their CCM weekend. I live very close to Gatlinburg now.
