TWO waves. Impressive.

Rofl. Ta!!
We apparently got a Sigourney Weaver fan aboard!
Oh yeah!
Mom worked some nights at a local video shop when I was in middle school. Just a step up from a gas station rental. I think it was Video Palace. Anyway, she got crazy discounts and would usually bring home like 5 movies at a time. Anything from the regular older releases was fair game, and only a new release if it didn't rent that night. She closed, so we were burning through movies. I watched a LOT of JCVD back then. They rented SNES games too. UGH. I miss the excitement of her coming of with videos reeking of cigarette smoke lol. I suppose it was no mystery that the place eventually burned down. =\ It's a subway shop, now.
I've been regaled with the stories of kids who rented a system and left feeling like a gangsta with that padded case. Instant Bond villain status. Roll up on a fellow 7th grader with that in your grip.

Hardware Wars! That was it! I miss Blockbuster Video. Prices were insane (IMHO), but selection was great for a bored college kid. That was my gateway to anime. Ghost in the Shell might have been my first, thanks to Blockbuster.
There were always the local shops (Action Video) and Phar-Mor. You might get lucky, but often left settling for anything.

Then there were the trips to Blockbuster. It was a longer trip to and then the depressing longer trip to return. But, man o' man, they had 60 copies of everything. You really felt like you had arrived if you went to the Blue n' Yella

In as rambled and incoherent as I can be...

I think part of my feelings come from the question,

"When are you gonna see the new...?"

"Probably never."

*harumph* "Oh, you're not a real Star Wars fan."

It's not lost on me that there are a number of things at play, mainly the loss of a child's sense of wonderment.
They say its empty but that don't mean its light.
SASQUATCH KITTIES!!!!
Misread that as Glengarry Glen Ross.
