The Shoutbox
I've just had the old eBay double whammy.

Sold my Chromecast (made a profit on it actually, which is weird) but the buyer's gone to ground and won't pay. The money from the Chromecast was going towards a new mouse ... and the seller went strangely silent after it didn't turn up.

The moment it crosses 100 the "Check Engine" light comes on. Heh.
That's weird. My recollection is that we sold that Corsica up here to some guy who buys cars for parts (once it was really run into the ground). Did you give it back to us when you bought the Buick?

I noticed something while I was browsing through the 100 laughs checklist. The film To Be or Not To Be has the year 1983 on it while the actual film that was on the AFI list was made in 1942.
Back in the says when I had money, I owned a succession of fast cars. Perks of the job, I guess, because I could buy things at trade prices then sell them on easily.

The scariest (not the most powerful, though) was an Impreza WRX, one of these things.

Had to sell it after 6 months because it would have lost me my driving license. It's the only car I've owned that just wouldn't keep beneath the speed limit, no matter how hard I tried.

Used the money to buy a 20 year old Porsche 928 which was a lovely big lazy beast of a car. The wife hated it because of the interior - Milk chocolate coloured leather and an aircon that smelled faintly of death.

I wish I'd kept it.

Funniest thing I ever did on my Honda 90:
Hit nearly 100mph and could fathom how the bike had done it.
Turns out, I'd pumped the tires up to much as I didn't realise the pressure meter was broken on my pump. The tires were almost at bursting point.

Scariest thing I ever did on my Honda 90:
Forgot to do a weekly check of nuts and bolts etc... and the frame bolt (which holds the front end of the bike to the back end) had come loose and dropped out of place... I didn't notice until I caught the slipstream of an artic lorry and hit about 80mph... and as I tanked it past the driver's cab of the lorry, the bike started rocking in a strange way and then split in half at about 70mph... good job I got some strength in my legs as I held it together using nothing but muscle power, pulled up on the side of the dual-carriageway, kicked the bolt back in (without the holding nut in place) and carried on riding with my foot over the end of the bolt so it didn't come out again.
Oh... I used to get near 80mph out of it too... and the speedo only went up to 60

Had to get my Brother to drive behind me and tell me what speed I was doing.
I once rode a Honda 90 through a 4ft deep flood in the road.
Worked perfectly fine

Honda 90s are like work horses though, they never give up. Shame they stopped building them.
Charlie Borman (television bloke) once thrashed one to the point it fell to bits, he mixed salt water and diesel into the fuel, dirty chip-pan oil (complete with chunks of food) in the engine instead of engine oil, he even dropped it off a roof and buckled the wheels, framework and engine block... and it still wanted to keep going.

My old Honda 90 once ran on the wrong spark plugs for ages. I put the wrong capacity in without realising and it ran just fine. I only noticed when the plugs packed up through old age.
Ran it without an exhaust for a while too... was pretty loud.
Used to get 150 miles to the gallon out of it too
