I remember when people were wondering if anyone would ever actually earn the red lightsaber and who it was likely to be. Though I do recall what meatwad was like when he first joined, even at his worst I'm not sure that he managed to measure up to a fellow like Purandura88.

Nobody ever had a red lightsaber (though it's not for a lack of trying in some cases). It's not a question of "needing" incentive to be a good member - if anything, it serves to encourage people to be better. Shallow validation? Perhaps, but it works - why else is it still kind of here?

Meatswad had a red lightsaber. I had a few red reps here and there simply by people who disagreed with my opinion. I think if you need to be incentivized to contribute you probably shouldn't have joined. Especially if all it takes is the chance to feel like a big fish is a green dot. Like I said I'm not against the rep system but as someone who has been here before, during and after. I prefer the place without it.
