I wish people would stop doing that. Makes bananabox impossible to read.
I think you're right. He's a damn fine action choreographer and editor, that's about it. If he were a drummer, he'd be good at barking the hi hat just right, like a 1970's radio hit inspired by motown. He lets his sequences breathe while he keeps the pace tight.
Nah, Sin City is very much the kind of style-over-substance piece that aims to wow you the first time around and if that doesn't work then the odds of it growing on you are extremely slim. I put it into a top 100 about a decade ago, but now I don't think it'd even crack my top 500.

I don't think Rodriguez is capable of doing that kind of emotional weight. He's settled in his niche of doing weird little action movies and I don't think he's going to come out any time soon.
I'm still waiting for RR to drop a drama on us with the same emotional weight of Running on Empty or Ordinary People. I was thinking of watching that one again, Sin City. I remember not thinking it was very good when I saw it so..maybe now I'll love it? If you think it's not so great, I'll probably review it next. ;P
Maybe. I saw Sin City in theatres and thought it was the coolest thing, but nowadays I think it's, well, not.
OK. I understand. In all honesty I am a bit biased because I saw it in theaters back in 1984 and thought it was the coolest thing I'd seen. I suppose the collective has a way of lowering the shelf life. Just not in my aisle, that's all.
