Yikes, pn ... I'm taking out the trash right now. You can't be too careful. LOL
last night as i was taking out the trash, i was horrified to find it crawling with flies. really, there were maybe only five or six, but it was certainly a concentration. the real horror was what i knew was underneath all the refuse: a squirming nest of maggots gathered around some week-old sausage. as i lifted the bag, i was relieved to find no leakage and i quickly disposed of it in the dumpster outside. not helping my nerves, there was a raccoon digging in there at the same time. i threw the bag into the dark, returned home and went to sleep.
when i woke up this morning, i remembered the dream i had just experienced. in absolutely concrete terms, what i saw in my dream was a very small (about 5 inches across) canyon with intricate rock formations. Lodged between the walls, well above the bottom of the canyon was a burning bus. how this connects to the night before was that the tiny canyon's ledge was contiguous with the edges of my wastebasket.
so, somehow, the disgust i felt at the maggots i had allowed to grow there manifested themselves in my dream as a burning bus lodged between a canyon.
