I love Howard and Robin and the gang, but their facts on such showbiz matters are very often wrong. Surely if you listen to the show at all you must know this.
I just remember the announcements (from way back in last week) about Kimmel's show on ABC, but if you want documentation, I'll dig some up....

That's what I get for listening to Howard Stern and not checking the facts... but then, when I did search, I couldn't find any news about it online. From whence did your information come, Holden? Or can you divulge your source?
You got your facts a little screwed up, Mary Lo: Letterman is not retiring any time soon (don't you remember the controversy a couple months back with ABC trying to hire him away from CBS and possibly let Ted Koppel and "Nightline" go, but instead Dave resigned for zillions?).
ABC is cancelling Bill Mahr's show, "Politically Incorrect", which airs after "Nightline" in most markets. THAT is the spot Kimmel is taking. The first half of his show will compete against the last halves of Dave and Jay, then he'll be up against Conan and Craig Kilborn (also depends on the market and where the affiliates decide to air it, if at all).
I like Kimmel. He's funny with Adam Carolla on "The Man Show", and his guest shots in the writer's chair on the Howard Stern radio show have been spectacular. He's can be a hilarious guy, I'm sure I'll tune it in to see if his show works.

David Letterman is retiring, and Jimmy Kimmel (from Win Ben Stein's Money and The Man Show) will be replacing him. I say, all hail the Kimmel!
