Graphics in games: I tend to agree with Yoda, despite being a Myst fanatic. (For adventure games like the ones I play, graphics kinda matter more because there's less "action," per se.)

Anyway, though, beyond adventure games like Myst, graphics don't matter as much. How do I know this? Because guys like Yoda can still play their old JetPack game and their old Scorched Earth game! I don't think Scorched Earth even HAS graphics, does it?
I don't know...I guess I just don't view it as "Reality"

I know that kind of stuff happens, but knowing that it's a movie it takes away from the emotional aspect of it all, I guess.

I suppose that's why I really respect movies that are moving. Because the director made you feel something real.
City of God stirred some sort of emotion because they were kids. Someone, please, write an essay about why it's okay to see adults die but not okay to see kids die.
I must have a really strong tolerance for violence. I've been told by many people that City of God, Goodfellas and The Departed are hard to watch because of the extreme violence. I've seen all of those and didn't really think twice about the violnece. I wasn't disturbed by it or anything.

Hmm...
Well, I should be getting out of here now. Wish me luck on my date.
Yoda, look at most of the best games in the history of video games. Most of them, not all but most, had insane graphics for their time.

Mario Bros, Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, and even Killzone. Graphics do make the game, but it's gameplay that makes it last in the minds of gamers longer.
Yea, I know I'm going to get bashed here in a little bit. Don't get me wrong Yoda. The Wii is an amazing piece of technology controller wise. I just don't see it lasting any longer then a couple years before people come back to the PS3.
Nah, not bashed. I feel quite certain of what I'm saying, but there's no hard feelings.

As for people "coming back" -- time will tell. I've been wrong before, but I think the opposite will end up being true. I think Sony and Microsoft will be forced to utilize similar motion-sensing technology into future consoles. We're already seeing the beginnings of this, with Sony hastily releasing the SIXAXIS.
Even twice as powerful it's still in the sixth generation of consoles from graphic capabilities.
Based on what standard?

Sure, graphics don't make a game good. But I also don't believe gameplay makes a game good either. You have to have a decent balance of both and there's nothing on the Wii that wows me.
If a game needs decent graphics to be a good game, wouldn't that mean that old games automatically become bad after a certain period of time, and that no good games currently existing before the 5th generation of consoles?

The way I see it, you can get a bit more out of a game if it's insanely good looking, and you can have less fun if it's absolutely terrible looking, but most games fall somewhere in the middle, and for those games, it's all about gameplay. Gameplay is the foundation of ANY good game.

All that said, games that read your actual movements is a ridiculous leap forward for gaming. If that doesn't "wow" you, then I have to assume we're buying consoles for different reasons. I don't buy them to be on the cutting edge, or marvel at the number of calculations they can perform per second. I buy them to play games and have fun. Judging a console on raw power is like buying a car based on which has the highest top speed.
