Damn you for making sense, ok, I confess, it's the patriotism that gets me, which is why I've stopped watching The West Wing. I hate it, I hate it I tell ya!!*sulks*
G'day C-Man im doing pretty good, just chillin, working, same old, same old....im so boring, what about you dude?
Hey Mick! How've you been, man?
They were pretty good all things considered.....I dont know who the colts are, I just want to be loved
Okay, bump. But because I hate bumping alone, I should probably say something useful and/or interesting...

...so, how 'bout that Colts defense?
I don't mind that an American show is about America, I mind it when it puts that particular country at the center of everything.
I don't understand what you mean by this. It is set in America, focuses on America, and regards the destruction of America as very, very bad. Is that all you mean by putting it "at the center of everything"? Because to me, that just makes it an American show.

They would be the aliens. Godzilla is a Japanese folk tale
So? It's Japan-centric. It puts Japan "at the center of everything," does it not?

I think aliens, giant planet wiping asteroids and terrorism isn't specific to the U.S. but somehow manages to affect only that country, in crap films and shows that is, quality products have shown some more sensitivity to the rest of the world as of late.
I honestly do not understand what you're trying to say here. I listed two examples of American films about aliens that focused on American characters, but clearly showed the conflict to be a global one. What "crap films" are you talking about, and what do they have to do with 24?

I find 24 to be unwatchable for many other reasons, ridiculous patriotism is just one of them; the premise that one guy saves the world ( yes ,world if I recall it correctly, because if America goes, nothing can exist )
Does the show exactly make this connection? I hear people say it often, but does the show actually state that saving America is equivalent to saving the world? Regardless, I fail to see how it's silly for a country's citizens to regard the destruction of their country as being among the worst things that can happen. For them, it's akin to the destruction of the world, as I believe it would be for any other foreign citizen if their country were to face destruction. Again, I think you're criticizing America for something that happens everywhere.

in one day year after year with the same bullsh*t obstacles on his heroic path...like I said, it was watchable the first time around, and in my mind should never have had sequels. And you can understand why people outside the U.S. could lose interest in a show that revolves around America and its sanctimonious president.
Sure I can. I just can't understand why someone would be disgusted with an American show for revolving around America.
SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

I can't get "Go Insane" by Lindsey Buckingham out of my head and I think I'm going to kill myself soon if it stays there.
Children of Men focuses only on Britain? Does that upset you?

I'm dead tired. I'm going to go watch Firewall on HBO. That way if I fall asleep during it, I won't feel bad.
I don't mind that an American show is about America, I mind it when it puts that particular country at the center of everything. The first season of 24 I managed to digest, the second was just ridiculous. They would be the aliens. Godzilla is a Japanese folk tale, I think aliens, giant planet wiping asteroids and terrorism isn't specific to the U.S. but somehow manages to affect only that country, in crap films and shows that is, quality products have shown some more sensitivity to the rest of the world as of late. I find 24 to be unwatchable for many other reasons, ridiculous patriotism is just one of them; the premise that one guy saves the world ( yes ,world if I recall it correctly, because if America goes, nothing can exist ) in one day year after year with the same bullsh*t obstacles on his heroic path...like I said, it was watchable the first time around, and in my mind should never have had sequels. And you can understand why people outside the U.S. could lose interest in a show that revolves around America and its sanctimonious president.
Bump.
That's not a valid argument, there are plenty of quality american shows that don't put the U.S. at the center of the universe
Sure, there are some. But most aren't. And there certainly aren't enough to justify disgust simply because an American show happens to be about America.

you know , whenever the world is at threat, it's usually directed at america first, when the aliens decided to land, they chose america and that kind of stuff.
Who is "they"? In films like Independence Day and Signs, we're shown international locations, as well. They just follow American characters. Are you disgusted that every Japanese Godzilla film is set in and focused on Japan?

Plus, I'm sorry, but I get a vomit-inducing reflex whenever I see american patriotism on the telly.
Yes, I know. That's my point: that your dislike for "American patriotism" in general is causing you to find fault with 24 without any real reason.
