Simple misunderstanding about lead screening protections against the radioactivity medical X-ray machines. Without the typo, "Lead doctors don't die" is less offensive.

My high school best friend's mom was kinda into pyramid schemes. Not seriously, but she would get caught up in chain letter and pass-it-on type of gimmicks that promised income. Anyway, at one point she got into selling mail order supplements and sending mail marketing material to random names. One of the envelope slogans stated something like, "Dead doctors don't lie." I had to look that up and it's apparently the title of a book. Whatever. The point here is that she sent those out to random people with a sales pitch inside, along with her contact info. One day she got a call from a guy that assumed it was a threat on his life. Turned out he was a doctor. I don't think she made too many sales.
