Yeah, I love Wright, and the subject matter had me very optimistic that it could be that rare mix of very funny, quite moving, and genuinely insightful. It came close at times. It has a lot of good things to say, regardless.

I think this expectation comes with the territory with best pic noms, even if we should most certainly know better these days. I like Wright in pretty much anything he is in, so there is that, also.

I found myself siding with his character during the conversation near the end between him and the other author, even if they tried to play it out a a mic drop moment for her.
My personal ranking of the best picture noms that I have seen:

1. Oppenheimer
2. American Fiction
3. The Holdovers
4. The Zone of Interest
5. Maestro
6. Killers of the Flower Moon
7. Past Lives
8. Anatomy of a Fall
9. Barbie

I also thought it was pretty good.

My wife and I both liked it for the most part. Not sure it would make a shortlist of 5 best pic noms if that were still the normal amount.

A couple scenes had me rolling my eyes a bit, but otherwise itwas a pretty good comedy.

i know a cat that got removed from Spanish class and was told he needed to learn English first. he was shore he was right
LOL. A friend told me he used to study English by playing San Andreas and so he learned ebonics before proper English. His English teacher was shocked. Just imagine him saying this to her: "You picked the wrong classroom, fool!"

What if she retorted "Who're you callin' a fool, FOOL?" though!!!
