Winston-Salem will always be a footnote in the history of Dell.

Dell opened a PC (tower?) facility in 2005, propped up by loads of local and state incentives. Basically at the time when the majority of people switched to laptops.

Closed the plant 4 years later after reneging on a bevy of promises and a murky story of repaying those public funds.
