All right, hows about this.

This weeks theme is an actor/ actress that you would like to see get ressurected via the Tuarantino effect.

It doesnt necessarily have to be a former star that has fallen into obscurity (like Travolta was pre pulp fiction), it can also be a character actor that you favour, that has never, for whatever reason gotten top billing in a feature film not counting indie flicks and arthouse productions.

I'm gonna start out with the former, And Choose Ralph Macchio. I'd love to see what Quinton could do with him.

Known primarily as the karate kid, i havent seen Macchio in anything since My Cousin Vinny.

Having just recently re-watched the Outsiders, he was terriffic as a teenager actor in the role of johnny, but as previously mentioned fell into the dreaded typecast pit after Karate Kid was a smash.

I have it on Good authority that while QT doesnt have an active account, he lurks here at mofo land looking for fresh ideas. With that in mind, lets all put our thinken caps on, and have some fun with this one.

:D

Stephen McHattie has minor roles in 300 (The nice guy with the major beard who stayed in Sparta to help the queen), The Fountain (Grand Inquisitor), A History of Violence (Leland), and Watchmen (Hollis Mason) but I think has the features and talent to take on a Tarantino role, preferably a major character.

I say Eddie Murphy.

#1: He's black.
#2: He's 50 years old.
#3: He's done nothing except Shrek and really bad, forgettable comedies in the past 10 years. I think he got praise for Dreamgirls, but I never saw it.
#4: Tyler Perry totally stole his shtick (dressing in drag - even if he wasn't the first, he was definitely one of the best) and has been making a killing off of it in the past decade, when Eddie would have done it a whole lot better (yes, I am finally trashing Madea for once.) So Quentin should give him a major role in one of his films and let Eddie rule again.
#5: He sings - and I absolutely love "Party all the Time."

ok, got one, finally.

Quentin is mostly known for having strong female leads in his films. Mercedes Ruehl pegs me as being the type of chick he'd cast and i haven't seen her in much since the mid-90's

Got one. Elias Koteas.

First ever saw the guy in the Ninja Turtles movie, since then he always plays small but memorable roles, usually someone who dies near the beginning or is hardly seen on screen but always makes an impact. Most recent movie I saw him in was Fourth Kind and he was by far the best thing in the movie but he need that one big role to let everyone know what he's all about.

The Terminator
Aliens
The Abyss
K2
Tombstone
The Rock
The Art of War
Planet Terror

Just to name a very few that are excellent, not a big fan of Navy Seals but it is good for what it is just a 1990 action flick. Can't wait for Sushi Girl, and I really want to see The Divide

Sadly ask most people who Michael Biehn is and this is who they would say.

Nothing against Rowan Atkinson, he's always good for a laugh.

Even though I'm not playing this (unless you think Ken Foree would be a good choice) I'd sure be interested if some of the following popped up in a QT flick...

http://media.screened.com/uploads/0/1144/135918-rutger6_large.jpg

Rutger Haur - c'mon Quenty, Robert gave him a chance, and he's still got it.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRDFgBJLNRtcx12xuj8Aa7bdcu-ouwNUTvZnMpAGLJioPiuW6DWWByofILTeg

Tim Thomerson - ok so he's looking a lot older now, but how about a small part?

http://www.lasentinel.net/UserFiles/File/021711/jim_brown_1.jpg

Jim Brown - once again your mate Robert gave Fred a go, so how about old Jimmy?

http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTcyMjI3NjQyNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzcwMTIzMw@@._V1._SY314_CR75,0,214,314_.jpg

Thora Birch - she's certainly cool enough in my book.

http://www.lahiguera.net/cinemania/actores/michael_ironside/fotos/9484/michael_ironside.jpg

Michael Ironside - give this guy a decent part.

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRo5k6zP241d8Mw8Nky6En-VP7D7PNvzZwhnR3-y3JtIhOGcMi_7h65j6sFrA

I could go on and on...but I wont.

This is Not Porn Week

not as weird as it sounds :D

basically, This Is Not Porn (http://www.thisisnotporn.net/) is a website dedicated to posting rare and beautiful celebrity photos. they have a lot of old and forgotten gems, too. you can search by celebrity, too, so if you don't feel like scrolling just click the little drop down menu and have a looksy.

anyway, if you want to participate you gotta use a picture from that website.

for starters, i'm gonna go with this picture of Elizabeth Taylor, just cause

Edit- unfortunately the pic doesnt lend itself well size wise to Avatar, so am turbo switching.

On September 25, 1978 Steve Martin filled in for Johnny Carson as host of the Tonight Show with Burt Reynolds as one of the guests. During the interview Burt got dared to shave of his mustache. “I don’t think you’re that wild and crazy” Steve told him. Burt got a razor from a prop man and began shaving the mustache he had since 1973. He also wore a fake arrow through his head.

Alright so hopefully this will be a decent theme idea...
So you know how a lot of movies start you off loving a character at the start of a film but as it progresses you realize how much you hate them?? Well I want to do opposite...

Character you HATED in the beginning, but really LIKED at the end.

http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/24600000/Peeta-the-hunger-games-movie-24641275-2400-2037.jpg

http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/28900000/Peeta-the-hunger-games-28923801-500-500.jpg

I never read THE HUNGER GAMES books so I had no idea what to expect when I just saw this the other day. I choose Peeta because in the start he comes off as cocky and dim whitted. Also he was siding against Katniss with the other districts and I didnt know it was just strategy til later. He ended up surprising me with his kindness and compassion at the end.

TheUsualSuspect
04-08-12, 01:38 AM
Hard to think of one. I went with Sidney Prescott, I didn't really HATE her, but I disliked her at the start.

I really had to think about this for quite a while, There are not that many characters that I hate in the beginning and then love at the end.
But I wound up having to go with Barbara (Patricia Tallman) from Night of the Living Dead (1990), Hate might be a strong word, maybe severely annoying, she was so whiny at the beginning and then turned into a kick ass Zombie killer.

lol thanks. Wrong Turn (the 1st one) was my favorite of the 4. Eliza did an outstanding job and she's all around great in all her movies. I feel like I havn't seen her in anything recent though. I'll have to WIKI her and she what she's been doing recently.

Part of the reason the first Wrong Turn is so good is that it isn't all about "sex" like the others are. The first one was a good canable gory movie without the overuse of sexual things.

Funny, I feel the same way about The Hills Have Eyes series. The first was just really REALLY good... then the sequal was about them wanting to raise their numbers by using women to have more disformed babies and what-not.

In my 2012 update of Top 100 movies (which you can expect at the end of summer hopefully--depending on the time I get around to making it lol) you will notice that only the first Wrong Turn and Hills Have Eyes will make it. Haha :D

Have you seen it? It's not good, but she looks fantastic. Sadly, she doesn't have much screen time. :( Only reason I went and saw it, yet it was worth every penny. :yup:

Yes, Wrong turn 2. He was the Host (Retired marine or something) of the "POST APPOCOLYPTIC" show. The problem I had with that movie was all the errotic scenes. Some people love that stuff, but not me. Funny, all the guts and gore and canabalism doesnt make me sick, but watching two deformed sick-os getting it on in the woods just grossed me out. LMAO! If it wasn't for that scene and a few others in WRONG TURN 2, I would REALLY like it!

ok its been established that TV is allowed, and so, after watching last evenings Game of Thrones episode, it got me thinking, what is the best series to appear on TV ever?

plant your flag folks.

As good as Game of Thrones is, I think Boardwalk Empire is a notch above.

A couple of years ago I would have went with Firefly because I am a huge nerd and just sucks that the show got cancelled also, but now I have to go with The Walking Dead as my favorite, and Daryl as my favorite character in the show.

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc406/akatemple/AVATARS/the-walking-dead.jpg

As much as the show pisses me off sometimes with the way they tend to drag out stuff, they always make up for it in the end and I just can not wait for the 3rd season to start.

i suppose a combo of both, but leaning towards the best. In other words, Alf may be your favourite, but it doesnt qualify. :D

Also, after thinking about it today at work, ive decided that i cant personally annoint Boardwalk GOAT status as its incomplete.

When I was in the 7th Grade I had a really cool teacher, a really bad teacher but cool in that he was lazy as hell and about twice a week he would bring in episodes of Are You Being Served for us to watch, ever since then I have been hooked. All of my friends think I am insane because I think it is such a great and funny TV show but screw them I love it.

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc406/akatemple/AVATARS/AYBSblueflyerLR_opt.jpg

Wow dead for 3 years, I guess I should have payed more attention to the stuff I was reading about her, I know that Mr. Humphrey's (John Inman) died a while back but I did not hear about her.

Holy Crap they are all dead except for 2, that is insane, and the 2 living have to be almost the oldest of the cast except for the store owner of course, wow I did not know that, thanks HK.

Yeah I had to look up Grace & Favour and yes I have seen it but I new it by the name Are You Being Served Again, it was a good show but now nearly as good as the original. Yes, I've seen the film. I've not seen it in a very long time, but I do seem to remember Miss Brahms in a brown bikini. ;) Most, if not all, the big British sitcoms had movie versions in the 70's. Porridge, Rising Damp, Are You Being Served?, Steptoe & Son, On The Buses, Please, Sir!, Dad's Army, Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads?, George & Mildred, Bless This House, Up Pompeii. I can't think of any more. I'm sure there are more, though.
