Thought I'd make a midweek change.

I loved Battlestar Galactica when I was a kid (still do) and nothing was cooler looking than a Cylon. The pilot was released as a film over here and I must've nearly worn my copy out. They also released a 'sequel', which was "The Living Legend" double episode of season 1, which I watched and loved even more. It's still one of my favourite episdoes.

Hilarious! Magic Wigs!

Ka-Ching is a mutant creature from the Japanese show based on the adventures of the Power Rangers. Viewed for the first time by the Power Rangers, he is able to use his magic wigs to make people greedy and money hungry. That should work... I'll see what I can come up with... :) as for the Power Rangers... I've gotten curious about it now so what age group do you think would like it? My niece is six and loves a lot of different things... but her favorite movie is Nightmare Before Christmas...

It's quite campy, I would keep her on the Nightmare Before Christmas trail, showing her more intellectually stimulating things, maybe even show Big Fish, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, stuff like that? Not at all the same thing. Non-human simply means that it cannot create viable offspring with the human species. In-human means that the irresolvable gap between what is naturally human and the "alien" substance of the in-human subject is within the human itself, fully contained, hermetically quarantined from physical manifestation. Lecter is then... in-human (though this can be argued), but he is certainly not non-human.

Are the dead still considered human? I would think so. Thus someone is still human even after they are dead and their consciousness/soul "leaves" their body. I'm sure people will agree with me on this, right?

Now... in the specific case of zombies, it is clear that they are not merely dead. They are, and this is no stretch of terms, un-dead. They are dead, of course. But within their death, fully contained, they are alive. They have found life within death; animation within the inanimate.

In conclusion, it seems to me that because they are neither dead or alive, but rather, a perverse subversion of both, I would conclude that they cannot be considered human as such, and are thus monsters.

I am 48 yrs old and I don't have any children so I know next to nothing about the Power Rangers, but it is easy enough for us to google the words power ranger monster and come up with an appropriate avatar. Then you can ask about the monster you've chosen. I am sure wintertriangles would be happy to fill you in. I am really disappointed that so many people are bowing out this week or asking wintertriangles to amend his choice.

I have used avatars that don't represent anything about me. I think the point of the exercise is not only to have the fun of seeing a whole host of avatars that you would pick but to accommodate the other folks in the game. I could rattle off lots of things I had no interest in that I found avatars for and had fun doing it.

Yep, there are three, total. The last two went straight to video. I like them, but I am very easy going when it comes to movies. I like/love many movies simply because they were fun to watch. They don't have to win awards for me to check them out. If you have Netflix, it wouldn't hurt anything to watch them once, just to see what you think. The first movie is easily the best, but I'm sure there are many people who can't even stand that film.

The first movie is easily the best, but I'm sure there are many people who can't even stand that film.
I wouldn't say I can't stand it, but I was very disappointed with it. I thought it'd be the 'good' one, but it turned out that The Relic was much better.

Yeah a spinoff... that'd be sweet. Like some of his other cases and stuff.

I've heard frequently that the manga was better, as is usual with manga v. anime, but there are some really fine cinematic moments in the anime. For one, the use of music is pretty above-par and really makes some of the scenes. The plot is the most badass part though, as you know. What's brilliant is how you end up rooting for just about everyone in the end.

I've yet to see the movie.

I chose Breaker Morant. It's the disputed story of three Australian officers who were tried as war criminals during the Second Boer War. Edward Woodward plays the title role of Harry (Breaker) Morant an officer, poet and horse breaker who because of his court martial becomes an Australian folk-hero. It's a wonderful film from Australia. I highly recommend it.
