ClassicQueen hasn't been here in about 2 1/2 weeks. DexterRiley, I'd rather you just go ahead, and if she shows up, she can go next weekend.

ok folks.. the theme this week is actors that direct.
A few caveats. To qualify for the purposes of this game, they must have directed a minimum of 4 movies.
I'm starting the week off With betty Thomas
We first knew her as the scrappy police woman that took no guff on the emmy award winning Hill Street Blues.
http://wherearetheynow.gophercentral.com/images2/bettythomas-then.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51KGNN3YR4L.jpg
She directed Howard Stern and he came across somewhat likeable.
now thats talent.

My first actor obsession. I used to have Kevin Costner movie marathons. I guess you could say I was a glutton for punishment.
Directed: Open Range, The Postman, Waterworld, and Dances With Wolves.

Although he didn't direct Cobra (that was George P. Cosmatos) which is what my avatar is from, he directed a lot of other movies... but Cobra is badass.

Alfred Hitchcock made an appearance in just about every film he ever directed... so technically, he was an actor too... :p and I'm changing to him for a while...

also, kevin Costner didn't direct WaterWorld, kevin reynolds did.
Like I said, IMDb had it listed in his resume and I didn't have much time to make a choice, since I was out of town most of the weekend.
Here is the explanation IMDb offers for listing him as a (uncredited) director on the film:
Rumors abound that director Kevin Reynolds walked off the set with two weeks of filming left, and Kevin Costner completed the film.
But if it bothers you, I'll try to come up with another actor/director that actually has some significance to me.
Edit: Okay, I'm switching to Bruce Campbell now. He's directed two movies (My Name Is Bruce, Man With the Screaming Brain), one full length documentary (A Community Speaks), one short documentary (Fanalysis) and several TV episodes (Hercules, Xena, and V.I.P).

The new theme of the week is…
SERIAL KILLERS
When I was compiling my top 50, I noticed that a lot of my favorite movies (as well as one of my newfound favorite TV shows) seem to feature these multiple murderers. And, while I don’t actually have a “thing” for them, they make for a great subject for film – whether it’s horror, drama, or even comedy. So let’s see your favorite homicidal sociopaths!
Any image from any movie or TV show featuring a serial killer will do. If you come in late in the game or are having trouble finding one that fits, anything featuring a murderer will be accepted, but do try to keep more closely with the theme.
My choice for the week is Clay Pigeons.
http://www.angelfire.com/music6/walteregan/MoFoAvs/claypigjoaq.jpg
Of course, Phoenix isn’t the killer in this one, but I’ve been Joaquin-less for too long and I love this picture.

from "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer"
I think he's a sexy serial killer. I just wanna play with his curly hair while he strangles me.
He's in another, but it's more like a twisted revenge situation . . . Because he's loony. Then he's in another, but he's the cop to Jean-Claude Van Damme's serial killer character. Replicant is the title to that movie, and I may as well use it until I think of something else. I'm not too into this type of movie. Vigilantes, yep, but not serial killers . . .

Destiny's correct, that's from the first scene with Drew in Poison Ivy.
If I've understood the theme correctly, given the parameters of what you said, I could've also used:
Waxworks 2: Lost In Time (though I doubt I could find a shot of her in it online)
Guncrazy
Doppelganger
Scream
Technically, I think I could've used Home Fries too, as there's a murder, but she doesn't have anything to do with the act, though she is the reason for it.

If you love horror, year round, then why aren't you wanting a creepy theme? ;) Yes, I'm just kidding with you, but I love horror year round, too. Which is why I, and probably anyone else who loves it a lot, wants to "at least" use it for this month. If you use Michael from Halloween, maybe. He's not the star, and you can say he stole the show from Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance. However, I think people are looking for actors... so, to be technical, you would have to say the guy who played Michael Myers stole the show.
I don't know about Frankenstein. I mean, the whole point of that film is Frankenstein. If someone else had been more interesting than him, you could use that person.
However... there is Bride of Frankenstein... but let's be honest. The Bride stole the show from Frankenstein and she was barely in the movie.
I don't think we should let you get away with anything, though, missy, since you wouldn't zip it over me trying to use my Tackleberry, the 50 year old dead hunk from Police Academy, during "Actors That Died Young" week.

If Rauldc also doesn't show up, say by Sunday morning, I'll let Xui Wan post her choice.

My first thought was Charlotte's Web, but I've used Templeton in a previous theme and I really don't much care for the other characters, so I'm going with Bambi instead.
Always liked the movie and have since replaced my worn out old VHS tape with the DVD. Not crazy about the title character though. My favorite was always Flower, even though I thought he was a she when I was little.

Yeah I was kidding, I actually had my current avatar up before the theme change was even chosen, so I do not mind changing it. Believe it or not there is a film or two out there I grew up watching about as much as Flash. ;)

Well, you didn't specify any exact age, and childhood is any age from infant to adult. With that being said, and the fact that I never really watched anything over and over until I was a bit older, I'm going with Halloween (1979). I watched this more times than any movie . . . Maybe even The Outsiders. Mind you, if it wasn't Halloween/October, I'd probably split this theme between Ponyboy and Michael Myers.
I had the TV version saved to VHS when I was roughly 14, and watched it so many times that my mother said, and I quote, "The keys, the keys" . . . "If I have to hear about those damn keys one more time, I'm going to scream."
Yeah, she was pissed!

Yeah, this is funny, actually. He has used that movie constantly, and even well before this game ever got going. When I sent you that post comment, I scrolled back, and said, "*****, I just sent that to 7thson by mistake." Your email that I'm about to read just cleared that up.

Actually, I was grownup before the age of eleven, but I don't recall much of anything I watched before then. I could dwell on it . . . but I'm not going to.
I saw a handful of movies, one time each, at the theater. That was when I was 11 through 14, maybe 15. That was about it. You could put my theater experience on a post-it. As far as Disney movies go, from when I was young . . . I suppose I watched the bulk of them, but I should remember watching them, to use them.

How old were you, and did you see them at the theater?
Not that I'm trying to figure out your age, or anything. :p
The only other thing I remember movie wise, from when I was young (10-12 years of age.), was when I was still in Florida, and Vincent Price hosted a show every Saturday, where he showed classic horror movies all day long. I loved that. I spent all day in my room. This would explain my love for horror movies. I don't suppose I've been into animation since my father died when I was eight. He loved Looney Tunes.

I must have been around 5-7 years old.
I saw them at my neighbours home.. There was this retired film buff who had a huge VHS collection, he'd play us some stuff every now & then.
I owe him a lot, I really learned about appreciating films from him.
This was all when my dad was away from home, we then moved to a new place with Dad. That's when I learned to appreciate films a bit more.
My dad loves westerns & Disney films.
We still have lot of boxes of VHS tapes lying around back home.
I only hope my kids will grow up with the right kind of appreciation of films, literature & music.
I'd hate it if my kids skipped Mark Twain, RL Stevenson & started reading Harry Potter.
BTW I was born in the 80's..

Going with Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. One of the first horror films I saw -- and my childhood was nothing but watching horror films. Especially Freddy Krueger movies, but I'm not feelin' Freddy today. Would have been nice to have used something non-horror, but... *sigh* it is October.

Well if you go by the "Mofo Age Demographic" thread, a good percentage of us were born in the 80s.

I remember watching Robocop over and over again when I was young and I had it bought for me on VHS from my auntie for Christmas one year, I cannot remember how old I was.

I hate giving up my spooky avatar for a few days... but you guys know I will... :D
For now, I'm going with Princess Leia from the original Star Wars ... you know, the one they're calling A New Hope now...
I loved Star Wars when I was a kid and still do... I've gotten into arguments several times over Princess Leia because they saw her more as a "damsel in distress" and the guys as the heroes... but I see her as one of the main heroes and never as the damsel in distress... nor do I ever remember her asking for help for herself... when she asked, it was for her people... which makes a big difference... anyway, she was my Halloween costume of choice several times...
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c395/Caitgee/Avatar/leia.jpg
The movies I watched on commercial TV over and over as a kid were The Wizard of Oz, The Ten Commandments, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, House on Haunted Hill, The Pit and the Pendulum (the last two with Vincent Price), Ben-Hur, Atlantis, the Lost Continent, the original The War of the Worlds, Oklahoma! and the original The Time Machine.
I also watched the TV version of Peter Pan with Mary Martin every time it was on. (In fact, they just had a final "Jeopardy!" about the only woman to win a Tony for playing a male and I was the only person who got it, after two seconds). I think I'll go with that one.

OK, these are the four final members before the list rolls back around. Rauldc14 hasn't joined in for quite a spell, and after asking him about it twice, and not receiving a reply, I've decided to remove him from the list.
I want to adjust the list in two other ways, if you all are OK with it. Both beelzebubbles and Classicqueen13 were away, which doesn't count as far as missing other people's theme choices. It's not like it can be helped. With that being said, I'd rather not hold it against them. I'd like to adjust the list by adding them to the bottom of it. After it rolls back around to nebbit, they'll be back where they're suppose to be. Of course the list can still change a bit, due to the post counts changing. No time back, wintertriangles was after Fiscal. As you can see, that's changed. I'll continue to adjust the list as we go through the holidays.
OK, the list will go like this . . .
wintertriangles ~ October 16th
Halloween ~ October 23rd
Xui Wan ~ As early as the 30th, but some may wait until the 31st to change.
Fiscal ~ November 6th
sarah f ~ November 13th
Thanksgiving ~ November 20th
beelzebubbles ~ November 27th
Classicqueen13 ~ December 4th
nebbit ~ December 11th
Christmas ~ December 18th
Caitlyn ~ December 25th, and again, some may wait until the 26th to switch.
Is everyone OK with all of this?
